Description of Work: They have re-keyed a lock to match a new lock so we can use one key for all of the doors. They made us copies of our keys that work perfectly.

+ -1 moreI spoke to owner or manager to schedule a time; I was super stressed as I was about to move my entire home and office (2,500 SF) and the locks were the last thing I needed.so voiced my frustration with the building supply co; my tight schedule, and worry about damage (since my interior doors had to be painted twice after they were damaged being installed). After he declined I even stopped by the east Vancovuer store on my way home to ask who the guy I spoke with was - the 3 guys standing there said the owner and had the compassion of a stone - I left in tears. I used to recommend this firm to everyone but obv. not anymore. Harrys got the $217 job done and went the extra mile (see my other report).
Description of Work: New construction home where the building supply company had screwed up big time. Two of the exterior door handles were bedroom locks; all four locks were not keyed the same as requested; deadbolts were missing parts, etc. So the supply company agreed to reimburse me locksmith expenses; They/builder called Curlys since I asked for a locksmith with a bricks and morter address not just a van (farther location from my house) since I had used them twice before for re-keying homes I moved in to (one bought and last summer recommended to landlord for my rental). They did a good job both times with straight forward work but apparently are not interested in work when the request is outside the box and/or the potential customer asks questions in anticipation of things that might go wrong. The manager and/or owner refused the job due to my tight schedule requests and/or after I asked if removing the two incorrect handles and replacing (I had bought more) would cause any damage to the door (he admitted it "was me" - which was honest so if there was a grade for candor he would get an A).

+ -1 moreWe would give them A’s across the board. The guy that came out was real knowledgeable, really smart and he just buzzed right through here and got everything done real quickly and I appreciated that. We spent around $200 on that service.
Description of Work: We used Curly's Lock & Key Inc. 1.5 years and rekey everything, so it had the same key when we first moved in here.

+ -1 moreWonderful experience. We had been trying to order the handle set through retail/internet sites but couldn't get good information when we had a question. Curly's was able to understand what we needed and provide the solution. Quick app't, professional installation.
Description of Work: Wanted exterior lock/handle replaced with a different finish than the existing one but wanted to keep existing interior parts. Everyone told me I couldn't do it except Curly's. They had the parts I needed (although they do not usually carry the handle sets) and saved me a bundle. They provided the installation and changed the other locks to match at a lower price than we were quoted elsewhere.

+ -1 moreThe technician (Travis) was also supposed to change the lock on the garage door but failed to do this. Not only did he not do this, but the front deadbolt did not even have a cylinder! He replaced the DEADBOLT LATCH but failed to tell us that there was no deadbolt to lock the door with! (There was no way for us to have known in advance because we had just purchased the property and had not had a key before. Travis refused to return to complete the job unless we paid another $45.00 trip charge, in addition to additional labor charges. The owner, Dale also refused to waive this second trip charge. We had no proble paying for the addition labor and part charges but did not think it was fair for them to charge another trip fee on top of everything else. We will not be using them again.
Description of Work: He picked a doorknob lock, rekeyed 2 cylinders, and replaced the dead latch on the front door.

+ -1 moreCurly's recommended having keys made to original factory specs. They showed me the keys we had and why it needed to be done. When the keys were made everything opened effortlessly. I was so happy, I thought the trunk lock needed replacing as well as the ignition. Every time I use Curlys, they are always so honest.
Description of Work: Keys would not open trunk and would have trouble with ignition.
