Tree Service – Pruning, Stump Grinding, Removal, & Preservation.
Fantastic! We are extremely happy with the work done. It turned out better than we expected. I called Cascade Tree Works for a bid on removing a failed tree, a fir tree, and pruning and trimming other trees. Greg Richardson, the owner of the company, and Certified Arborist, listened to the work I wanted done and gave me advice. He also gave me information on taking care of my existing trees during warm weather so they don't become stressed. I accepted the bid and scheduled a day and time for the work to be done. On that day and right on time, Cole, who was in charge of the job, introduced himself, reviewed the work to be done, and got right to work with his crew. They were very safety conscious, which made me feel at ease. Everyone on the crew knew what they were supposed to do and got right down to business. There was no standing around. They were incredibly efficient. They completed all the work that I asked them to do and the final bill was exactly what the bid said it would cost. I will continue to use Cascade Tree Works for all future tree work and will wholeheartedly recommend them to everyone I know that needs tree service. Paul

I called on Monday to inquire about cost and availability for chipping service. I was told by receptionist the cost was $250/hour but they would need to have rep come out and do an estimate. I provided my address and contact information and receptionist scheduled the estimate appointment for the following Wednesday at 1:00. I called Wednesday 10:46 to confirm appointment was at 1:00 and receptionist said yes. At 12:46 I received a call from company rep saying they don't need to do an estimate because chipping services are is billed at $250/hour, and there would be a setup fee of $350 because I live outside their service area. I asked why the receptionist scheduled an appointment for an estimate when it wasn't necessary and why she did tell me about the mobile setup fee. The company rep said she does not know "those details". I'm wondering why she doesn't know "those details" when she is answering questions about services and fees and scheduling appointments? They wasted my time by scheduling an unnecessary appointment and not canceling it until 10 minutes before they were suppose to arrive.

Response from Cascade Tree Works LLC
During certain hours of the day the person answering the phone is just a receptionist. This customer did not mention that she lives multiple towns over and in a different county. However, her zip code stretches all the way over to Clark county so the address didn't look unusual when she provided it. As I was headed out there I called to tell her I would be late as I was not expecting to drive up the Gorge into Skamania county and at that time I informed her there would be a mobilization charge to have the tree crew drive out to her and provide a service. She was very upset. She then started yelling and cursing at me over the phone. At this point the conversation was over for me I said sorry for the confusion and politely hung up the phone. I would have been more than happy to accommodate her if we made a mistake during the initial contact but if anyone yells, curses and disrespects me or my staff we will not do business with you, we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone and I mean that in the nicest way possible. Thank you, Greg Richardson Owner

Extremely fast and efficient. Was very thorough and was very courteous and respectful. Apologized for not getting all of the sawdust out of my lawn (which was beyond what I expected to have completed and was absolutely fine with having that left behind). Trees were down in roughly an hour which was extremely fast. Cleanup was fantastic. Service was far superior to any other company I received bids from. Office Staff, Heather, was extremely informative, always answered my questions and was extremely efficient with scheduling and billing. A+++ service and extremely reasonable rates.

The crew arrived on time the day of service. It was pouring rain. This crew was at my house all day working in the pouring rain taking down these trees and taking out the wood. Very professional. I have to emphasize it was pouring rain all day long. The crew did their best to not mess up my lawn as they had to haul the wood out of the backyard. My backyard is sloped making things less easy. I appreciate their hard professional work.
Description of Work: I had just purchased the house. Steve responded quickly to do a quote. One tree had fallen onto the neighbors driveway three years earlier and the previous owner had it stuck back into the ground. Even though it righted itself it was a potential threat to fall again. Steve identified other trees that were potential future problems. There was too many trees causing gutter clogging, less sunlight, and messy foliage as well as overgrowth and potential falling. I wanted to remove any problems. Steve recommended which ones to keep and trim nicely. Decision was made to remove 10 trees and trim some others

We were very impressed with both arborists we spoke to/worked with for this project. They were very knowledgeable and gave us excellent and reasonable information, not only for the current project, but also as far as what to expect in the future. The estimate was also very reasonable for the excellent quality of service. The crew was on time, respectful and conducted themselves professionally. They got right to work and stayed busy the entire time there were here. They cleaned up after themselves and did a fabulous job with our trees.

The roots of a beautiful maple tree (that was planted by the previous home owner) were threatening to take over underground sprinkler and water lines. I hated to take the tree down, but there was no choice. Based on Cascade's rating, I made an appointment for an estimate and we were able to set up a timely appointment. The cost to take the tree down was more than reasonable since I thought it would be much, much more. The hardest part for me was getting ahold of the city and then the county to find out of the tree could be removed without a permit - the answer was yes . . It took maybe 45 minutes start to finish. They even gave me some growing advise on another tree in my yard.

Cascade Tree Works was amazing. Possibly the best contractor I have ever hired for any service at our house. They gave us a quote that was reasonable, which we compared to others in the area. It was right in line with others, but the amount of detail on the quote was far and away in excess of other contractors. We new exactly what we were getting, and that meant a lot for us, since this was a large and expensive project. Cole provided the quote, and came out for work with his team. They arrived on time, they started right away, and everything went exactly like they said it would. There was also about 3 years worth of old brush that I had pruned from various plants in the yard in a large pile, and without being asked they went ahead and threw it all in the chipper with tree branches! More than I asked for or expected - I thought that was going to be a trip to the brush recyclers. Amazing. They came out again after power/gas lines had been marked out and ground the stump and chased the roots. It was almost 100 degrees out there, but Cole again was on time, efficient, and was done before you knew. I am glad I only had one "weed tree" (what we have always called it), but if I had more, I would not hesitate in a second to call them again.

Estimate was slightly higher than other estimates, but the team was very knowledgable and did an exceptional job. They were safe, did not damage any of the surrounding plants (even with removing some very large limbs). Their clean-up was immaculate. They advised against further trimming of another tree because of the risk of seriously damaging the tree. They were very professional and well worth the small extra cost of the other estimate.

Gentleman came out and looked at the layout of my yard and gave me a quote for the whole job with a couple of what-ifs depending on what they found below ground in the stump. Came back several weeks later to do the job as scheduled, billed me as quoted. The stumps are gone and I have a nice pile of chips in their place. Nice people to work with, delivered everything as promised. I would use them again.

Cole came on time for the estimate and I was satisfied with the quote. Had to wait 5 weeks to have the work performed due to their busy season. On the day of the work, Cole and his assistant showed up about 3 hours late due to other jobs running longer. They stayed until all the work was done and they did an excellent job. Would not hesitate to hire them again for any other tree falling/trimming needs. First class. Heather in the office was also great to work with in regards to questions, scheduling and invoicing. Thanks everyone.

Went fine. Crew was on time courteous and professional. I was a bit disappointed that they did not move the wood to the front, but that had not been specified in the contract and the guy inc charge said they couldn't do it due to needing to get to another job even when I offered to pay extra. Got a 10% discount through Angie's list, which was nice. The pricing was competitive.

The service went very well. They are a family owned business. Heather, the wife, did a nice job handling the account and was great at communicating with us. I paid an additional fee to have them work longer on the trees with more technicians. We had them cut down a 35 ft. Blue Spruce; grind a few photinia tree stumps, ground all the removed tree's stumps- about 15 trees and shrubs, trim a Plum, Dogwood and shrubs. They also trimmed a hawthorn and magnolia tree. Four technicians came out and worked for about 25 hours. An arborist led the team and supervised their work. They completed the work in a timely manner and were friendly. They did a decent job with the cleanup and I had no problem scheduling their service. We could have paid an additional fee for them to removed what was ground.

I'm sorry, but Cascade Tree Works let us down. Was it a fluke? I would hope so, but nothing went right. We went in together with our neighbor for tree trimming - Greg came out and talked well, and we settled on getting some trimming done later in November. We made it clear due to the nature of the job and the importance of the trees to us that they would come out the last appointment of the day so we would make arrangements to be home to guide the work being done. The first date came and ... they canceled because they "didn't realize how dark it would be at that time of day." Not the best beginning, especially since I took time off of work to get there and found out only when I arrived home that it was canceled. The next date was set and, wouldn't you know it, we got the big wind storm here the day before. We pretty much counted on them canceling, but we weren't called, so again I came home early from work and ... not only hadn't they canceled, they had come before Noon and just sheered the branches off the tree to a height of about 25-30 feet. Neither my neighbor or I were home to keep this from happening - they just decided to get it done and put it into someone's hands who only had the basic info down on a bid form, which talked about trimming to a height of 20 feet. That was to get the branches off of and away from the roof, whereas there was a lot more tree there we wanted to preserve to keep privacy from the road - well, we could forget all that, as it was gone and you can't quite glue branches back on a tree. (Oh, except for the limbs on another tree by my chimney they promised to throw into the deal - nothing was done there at all.) Not on that bid form, after all. My wife was in tears, we've even had conversations about selling the house because my wife can't bear to look at it. My neighbor said she thought she had driven into the wrong address when she came home and saw the work. She spoke with Greg and he had talked about doing something to help - my neighbor wanted me to conduct negotiations how this would go down. So I called and hit a receptionist, then Greg's wife, then ... Greg's wife again saying Greg didn't want to talk to me on the phone, but wanted to meet me at the house. I told them I didn't want him anywhere near if my wife was home because she wouldn't "mince words" (to put it nicely). Obviously it was becoming another situation where I would have to leave work early - sorry, I wasn't going for it a third time. I stopped interacting with them at this point. Finally our neighbor received the invoice and they had over-billed from the bid - we were supposed to get a 15% off-season discount, but they ADDED 15% rather than subtracted! I just wrote our neighbor a check for our half and let her take it from there. I really only wanted it over at this point, an awful lot of stress over something that should have been straightforward. And funny - all that time and the company never felt it necessary to know my name or bill me separately.

Response from Cascade Tree Works LLC
I have been struggling with responding to this review because my point of view is quite different than what is posted above. I do not want to accuse anyone of being dishonest or spinning the truth, but here is my version of this situation. I do not recall anyone requesting to be present at the time of service. This is something that is crucial to customer satisfaction. This is double checked by myself or the Certified Arborist who wrote the contract, and also my office staff who schedule the jobs. So it is not likely that is was made clear to us that someone wanted to be present at the time of service. In our profession it is nearly impossible to give any customer an exact time of arrival unless it is first thing in the morning. If we are unable to complete a job it is always my goal to make sure it does not get rescheduled again no matter what. Even in a windstorm and its aftermath we put this job first to keep our commitment. Their branches were not just sheared off the trees, they were removed by an ISA Certified Arborist. In most cases, Fir tree branches are removed completely not cut back. This is how they are properly trimmed up to provide more clearance. Anything else would have been inappropriate and unsightly. The job was performed to the exact specific contract that was written by me and I went over the project in detail with my arborist before he started the project. The neighbor ( the person who actually contracted us to do the work) said to me after the work was done " you guys trimmed the trees exactly how it was written on the work order". If this mans wife feels so passionate about the trees, she should have been present at the consult when the contract was written! After all, that would have been much easier than moving when she didn't find the outcome as she had expected. When a customer finds anything unsatisfactory with our service I always make myself available, to meet at the site and come up with a solution. A site visit is the only way I can explain the workmanship. Its the only way I can see a problem for myself and make arrangements to resolve it, and at the very least take responsibility for our part in the situation. Customer satisfaction is the most important thing to me, and it always come before profits or egos or anything else. I have worked so hard to maintain my reputation through humility and understanding. This person never gave me the opportunity to make them happy and explain the workmanship. I would have been more than willing to come out on a Saturday for a site visit. If any of my customers find something unsatisfactory I will be available to them 7 days a week to resolve it. My quick-books shows no mistake in the billing. I would still like the opportunity to resolve this issue. Please call the office to schedule and appointment with me at your convenience. Sincerely, Greg Richardson Owner

Greg came and provided an estimate and recommended removal of a tree that was crowding out other desired shrubs and plants. He was very easy to talk to and was clear on scheduling the job (about 6 weeks after the estimate so we could get a discount by keeping his crew busy during January). The crew showed up and performed the work as scheduled and did a good job cleaning up the debris.Would hire again; even recommended them highly to next door neighbors who also want to remove some trees.
Description of Work: Greg removed three trees (and ground out one stump), two overgrown shrubs and thinned out a large Douglas Fir.
