When I call them, I can usually talk to the president of the company, which is nice. They are always punctual and explain what is wrong or right. They do a very good job.

+ -1 moreI received four bids and the Blairco bid was one of the best bids. The equipment was rated very well, but Blairco offered me the best warranty on the equipment for parts and labor. The salesman, Vic, was very knowledgable about the equipment and the old furnace I was replacing. The workers who installed the equipment were very polite and made a minimal mess. The job took two days because I was adding air conditioning for the first time. Although it was cold and I had no furnace overnight, they brought space heaters, so I was fine through the night. I referred Blairco to a freind who also used them for a furnace installation, and she, too, was very satisfied.
Description of Work: I had a new (replacement) furnace installed, and air conditioning installed for the first time.

+ -1 moreThey detected a failed transformer and replaced. I would like to say they were very professional but--there was no interest in determining why the transformer failed. The tech just guessed it was a power surge and it could have been. But there are other reasons a transformer could fail such as faulty sequencers. Many auto mechanics just throw parts at a car until it solves the problem--I hope it does not happen with our furnace.
Description of Work: Called them in to diagnose and repair a faulty electric furnace.

+ -1 moreIt ran a little more money than I expected--mostly because I hadn't been informed in advance that I'd be charged for driving time, too. Not a big deal since that is a pretty customary practice amongst home service businesses. Regardless, the high level of service made it a good value. Clearly, a local company run with integrity, honesty, and superior customer service--all excellent business practices. I will most certainly call them again when we have future needs for either heating or A/C services.
Description of Work: Great customer service! This company came highly recommended by our regular handyman. They lived up to that recommendation. They made the process of getting our A/C system routine service and cleaning (no repairs needed) go easy and smoothly from initial phone call and scheduling, to showing up on schedule, answering questions and explaining every thing, offering some instructions and good tips on how to run the system most efficiently and proper maintenance in between servicing. Very experienced! There was one little glitch that was handled with a phone call. It seems the service guy had left some jumper cables on the system that over-rode the thermostat. So when the thermostat was turned off, the A/C kept running. We didn't know why it kept running. We had to call the emergency number, waking up the on-call service person (I think the owner of the company) at nearly midnight. We felt so bad having to call in the middle of the night, but didn't now what else to do. He was most gracious and helped us over the phone. He knew exactly what had happened. So he walked my husband through the simple fix. I am thoroughly impressed with the superior level of customer service so rare in this day and age--most refreshing, reassuring, and reaffirming!

Description of Work: My old furnace needed to be replaced. I asked for a quote on an energy efficient furnace from Blairco and several other companies highly rated on Angie's List. Unlike other vendors, Blairco rep did not try to upsell (e.g. variable speed blowers) to a unit more appropriate to a large house (mine is small). They were also about 25% lower than the next best bid and yet the gas furnace I got (Carrier) still qualified for the Energy tax credit.

+ -1 moreHe told me that my air conditioning was working at the level that was expected and that replacing it would not make much of a difference. He was very honest because he could have been pushing me to make a sale. I’ve called them before for a system tune up and they did a good job. To me, in the two times I’ve used them, they are technically proficient and honest to a T. I was not charged when he came out to check the system.
Description of Work: Blairco came out right after the really hot period so we could talk about upgrading the system.

Ralph was very professional and knowledgeable. He has a super personality and we enjoyed his sense of humor. Blairco initially installed our A/C unit in 2007. We've been very pleased with their service and their team and will continue to recommend their services.
Description of Work: Full service maintenance on the following: compressor, condenser coil, refrigerant, evaporator coil, air filters, heating assembly, electrical components and thermostat.

+ -1 moreI couldn't have been more pleased. He called me on his way to let me know he was coming according to schedule. He not only performed the inspection and maintenance but answered all of my questions related to how long I could expect my furnace to last; what brand he recommends for replacement; and many more! He explained how the furnace and AC work; showed me the diagnostics chart to be able to determine what is wrong to communicate that with a technician; told me about a small part that is wearing out on the AC but did not recommend replacing it now since I don't use it often. He even took the time to answer a question about my hot water heater!
Description of Work: I requested an annual inspection and maintenance on my gas furnace and AC.

+ -1 moreThey were able to schedule the repair for Monday but made sure that I was ok without heat until then; if not, they would have done my repair right away. The repair was more extensive than they first thought and they were honest and detailed about what they were finding. At one point, they explained where the repair bill was and asked if I would prefer to put money into a new unit rather than more money into a 21 year old furnace. It was a no-brainer but they certainly did not push me. The new unit was ordered and installed in 2 days. The cost is exactly what they quoted and the service men were terrific. Came on time and did excellent work. They contacted an electrician who could do the necessary work and handled all the permits and inspections. I could not have had better service. I would ONLY recommend Blairco (and their electrician of choise) to anyone else.
Description of Work: My furnace stopped working completely on a Saturday morning in the middle of a snowy week. I contacted Blairco and they came out that day. They began repairing the furnace but when it was clear that more was broken than the original estimate, I had them put in a new furnace and do all the necessary adaptions to fit my former system.

+ -1 moreExtremely smooth experience. Estimator arrived per schedule and provided a very competitive bid. Property is a rental so Blairco arranged with renters for installation about 2 weeks after. Renters raved about how they were treated and impressed with the professionalism of the team: friendly, courteous, cleaned-up, everything. On schedule, installation was very clean with good attention to detail. Overall appearance of the installation was better than expected. Electrical contractor added outside outlet that was not specified in the bid, but a very nice addition at no extra cost. Renters are already seeing substantial savings on their electric bill - very happy. Been around the trades for years and this experience tops them all.

+ -1 moreWe had an ancient and incredibly large oil furnace in our 1955 mid-century modern home. It was behind a closet door in a hallway! They took great care protecting our hardwood floors and worked for three straight days cutting apart the old furnace and eventually installing the new one and an a/c unit. We were advised by Blair Co. that if we were going to purchase air conditioning it would be cost effective to do it at the same time as the furnace installation. It was excellent advise! If we had purchased the air conditioning later, they would have had to take the whole thing apart and add in the a/c! They measured and carefully cut pieces to rebuild the floor in the closet and to assemble the new furnace so that it would fit perfectly into the same space. There was much discussion and professional skill put into action to successfully finish the job. They used creativity and ingenuity and we were impressed. When the job was complete they took time to explain how to program the thermostat and exactly how the units worked. Details about gas safety and the shut off switch if we would ever need it. Great work! They also cleaned up and took the useless furnace away. It passed inspection easily.
Description of Work: Removed a 1955 oil furnace and replaced it with a gas furnace. Also added air conditioning! ( Please note-the cost of the furnace and install was split with the seller of the house we purchased. We opted to also add air conditioning.)

+ -1 moreI was very pleased that Sheldon found that the source of the problem was something significantly less expensive than what I was expecting. He came within a couple of hours of my initial phone call (earlier than expected) and was very polite, knowledgeable, and professional.
Description of Work: He determined why we were not getting any heat. Then he cleaned the pilot, main burners and flame sensor. He also vacuumed the burner and blower compartments. He tightened the loose gas valve connection and ran system heat mode.
