Jeff's brother arrived on July 7 and began working on the pond. He was on time and ready to work. He was approachable and very informative as to what was wrong with the pond and why the pump was not working. He worked very diligently on the pump and thought if I dried it out it might have a chance. However, NOT DUE TO JOE OR JEFF, but to the person who installed the original pump and his lack of explanation of how to maintain the pump, I had to replace the pump. Joe immediately placed a call with a pond company and got the pump as soon as he could. I can not stress how busy these guys are during this time of year and yet they both responded to my situation with prompt and courteous service. On Joe's schedule return, he replaced the pump, got the water running, and my pond is crystal clear and running like a dream. Joe even said he would email me the key steps I would need to keep the pump running smoothly until next year's cleaning. Of course, I will schedule that with Affordable Ponds. What Joe did that was great in my opinion, he did perform everything he was supposed and more, he did return on time, he was more than informative about why the pump failed, Jeff did follow up and make sure I was satisfied with the service. I can not say enough about these two brothers~~~I love the service.

Attempted to contack this company 2 times. Once on the 23rd or June and once on the 28th. Both time I received a voicemail messag that tells me to leave a message and some one willl get back to me by the end of business. Since the first attempt was on a Saturday I assumed I would get a call on the following Monday. Did happen. I called again on the 28th and got the same message. This time I added that I got the name of the business from Angies list hoping that would urge a call back. Still no call back. I will not attempt again and definitly would not recommend this company to anyone else.

My call to these folks was returned promptly, an appointment was made for the next day, the technician was punctual to the minute, he determined the pump was burnt out, and he installed a new one directly. He was professional and very tidy.

Service man showed up on time. He knew exactly what to do. The pump was barely pumping it was so clogged. He cleaned the filter and flushed the line and cleaned the whole system. The Koi are so happy swimming in clean water. It took him about an hour and worth every penny. I will definitely have them back every season. Soooooooo glad I found them.

WOW was all I could utter when I saw the work that was done to my pond! I purchased a house a few months ago and hadn't paid much attention to the pond. To my dismay I soon realized that it was not very attractive, it leaked, wasn't level and had a whole host of other problems. I began getting bids for the repair and was told I needed to have the whole pond rebuilt. That is when I remembered to check Angie's List and found Affordable Ponds. Jeff saved the day! He was forthright, honest and extremely knowledgeable. Jeff was confident that my pond could easily be fixed (without being completely rebuilt) and found all sorts of ways for me to save money. He went above and beyond to make my pond absolutely gorgeous (something I didn't think was possible)--all at a fraction of the cost! I would highly, highly recommend Affordable Ponds to all Angie's List customers!

I learned about Jeff at the pond store, went to his website and asked if he did small ponds. He came out the following Monday and called me at work. I could hear my frogs and birds in the background while he described what the pond needed. We discussed the importance of keeping it organic and not destroying habitat. He gave me a quote and we arranged for the work to be done on Wed. I came home from work that evening to a crystal clear pond with the waterfall flowing again. He has advised me on adding bacteria to prevent sludge and algae from building up again. He was able to clean out my pump so I didn't need to buy a new one. He didn't disturb the surrounding plants and reworked the rocks in and around the pond nicely. He charged me $229 plus tax--exactly what he'd quoted. I've tried to do the cleaning myself in past years with less than satisfactory results, so I feel the price was fair, even though I'd prefer not to psend that much.

Jeff created a second pond for us in Aug. 2011 and is our "go-to" pond guy for our large koi pond too. We probably need him twice a year or so for pond advice, repairs, etc. He's the best. Also, he costs a fraction of what our prior pond company charged, yet his work is far superior. For example, our prior pond company wanted $7,000 to install a bubble rock in our existing small pond. Jeff's quote was $900. You won't be sorry if you use Jeff, or at least we haven't been. Highly recommend.

My overall experience was excellent. He was focused on the job at hand and fixed the problem in a way that I am confident will last.

The work was done in a timely manner and to my satisfaction. I found them responsive and I liked their approach - $250 if they found and repaired the leak (s) - nothing if they were unable to repair.

These guys did a great job. They were on time (a bit early, actually) and went right to work. The pond was drained and my few fish were put in a bucket of water during the process. The cleaning was very thorough, I even saw him cleaning individual stones in the pond. Overgrown water plants were removed along with their root system. He continued this process through the upper water features and waterfalls. After everything was cleaned and put back in place the pump was replaced and filter cleaned. The whole process took about 4 hours. After the pond was filled and the pump/filter run for a while it looked like new! The water is crystal clear, I can see my fish on the bottom, the rocks are shiny and everything works as it did when it was new 10 years ago. Overall I was very impressed with Affordable Ponds. They had very reasonable prices, did great work and were easy to work with. I would highly recommend them and will definitely hire them again!

Jeff is a real professional! He literally wrote the book that we used to build our pond about 10 years ago. However the pond had become difficult to maintain and always looked dirty. We found Jeff quite by accident at the Yard and garden home show last spring. We hired him to clean our pond, reinstall a drain system to keep it clean and to rebuild our messy looking waterfall. He and his brother worked hard and the drain they installed has kept the pond sparkling for the last 4 months, right through the hot summer. The waterfall is gorgeous and looks very natural. Jeff came right out when we had discovered a leak in the waterfall and immediately fixed it. As I said, he is a real professional. I highly recommend him to help you with your back yard pond.

They did a good job but their prices got to high.

Our pond needed a lot of work, so it cost us some money. I called them and Jeff came out the next day to give us an estimate. We scheduled the service and they were right on time. Two days later Jeff came back to make sure everything was running properly and the leak had been fixed. They are very friendly, polite, and professional.

Jeff (owner) was prompt in responding to our phone call requesting an estimate for the work. He missed our first appointment and was very apologetic; in fact, brought us a lovely hanging fuschia basket when he arrived on-time for the rescheduled appointment. He gave us a couple of good ideas about how the pond could be completed with a nicely finished appearance. He suggested either mortaring in the stepping stones around the pond or mortaring rocks up the inside edge. His estimate for labor and supplies was $650. Though he initially said there would be a two week wait to get the work done, when we contacted him to go ahead, he booked the work the same week. Two men x 4 hours was $500; supplies ended up being only $80; fee also included pond cleaning. Throughout the afternoon he made sure to have us check on the appearance of the work to be sure we were happy with the result. It looks great!

Jeff and his helper were scheduleed for noon.. gave me a call about 11:30 AM and said they were running late and would be here at 2:30. They showed up at 2:30. Jeff had told me on the phone that they would empty the pond, power wash everything and vacuum out all of the residual muck. They did get out about 80% of the muck.. but never fully emptied out the pond and there was much of the rock that did not get power washed. To his credit, Jeff did work on the stream/waterfall to cement down some rocks in there. I don't know why he felt like it such a deal as I was paying him for his time. They did remove much of the overgrown plants as requested but were not able get out as many as I had hoped. Jeff said he didn't want to harm the liner so this was the best they could do. I have three lily pots in the pond... when they left there was one pot sitting inside another... and the 3rd one was laying on it's side.... I contacted Jeff prior to posting the review to give him a chance to explain himself and perhaps offer a remedy to the problems. While this cleaning occurred a weak earlier he had my job confused with another and only offered excuses. When we got the confusion cleared up I still pretty much only got excuses. He did offer to re-clean the stream / waterfall but that was not the problem I was talking to him about. That part was fine. Overall the experience was ok. I wouldn't use them again however as they did not do the complete work that was agreed to.

Very pleased with attitude, competence, enthusiastic, upbeat, positive manner and quality of work. Can not recommend him too highly.
