Aegis Cleaning Services

I bought the "Big Deal" for $119 in October or November, I contacted the company in November, and told them that I had bought the "Big Deal" gutter cleaning. I inquired as to whether this included cleaning the roof, it did not. Where I live there are a whole lot of fir needles, it makes no sense to clean the gutters without cleaning the roof first. I was told that it would cost an additional $50 to clean the roof as well. I was okay with that, I was also informed that the $119 only covered a specific amount of gutter, and it was cost more for additional gutter length. I told her how large our house was, and we left it at that. A week before Aegis was to show up for their appointment, I tried contacting them, to make sure that they were coming on the day and time that the appointment was arranged for. We have a large dog that needed to be removed from the premises prior to their working. I called several times and could never get through. Finally after trying every day for 5 days, I left a message on Wednesday the day before, and begged them to confirm the appointment. Of course, I never heard back from anyone. On the day of the appointment, my husband went ahead and picked up the dog during his lunch hour. I received a phone call on my cell phone while I was a work, which I missed. The caller was an employee of the company, he called at 2:00 pm in the afternoon, and he was on his way to my house to perform the service, and I had 15 min to call him back, or he was moving on to the next job. I noticed the call at 4:00pm. I was furious, I had tried to contact them for days, and could never get a hold of them, and they didn't return my phone call to confirm the appointment as requested, and now I had 15 min to call him or he wasn't doing the job. Apparently, the employee went ahead and did a portion of the job. He only cleaned a portion of the gutters, again I was furious. I called him back and asked why only a portion of the gutters had been cleaned and why did he only give me 15 min to call him back after I had called the company for days trying to get a hold of them. The reason that the gutters were not finished was that I had more gutter length than the "Big Deal" was for and he didn't want to continue until I had approved paying extra for extra gutter length, and I needed to CALL the owner of the company. I told him I was not calling the owner of the company, since I had been calling the company for days with no answer, I told him the company owner could just call me. The company owner did call me later in the evening, and gave me a big sob story on how busy they were with all the "Big Deals" they had committed themselves to, and there just wasn't enough money being made to hire employees to answer the phone, yaddah, yaddah, yaddah. I told me I would pay additional for the extra gutter length, as I wanted the job done. It was agreed that the employee would come at 9:00 am Monday morning and finish the job. My husband took our dog to work with him again Monday morning. My husband returned at lunch time, and the guy had just arrived to finish the job, which was around 11:45. My husband stayed home from work until 2:00 waiting for the guy to finish, he finally went back to work before he was finished. The only reason I am not giving this company a D or an F, is because they never billed me for the roof cleaning or the extra gutter length. I don't know if they just haven't found the time to bill me, (its been more than 2 months) or just decided to write it off because of their poor service. All I ever wanted was to have the roof and gutters cleaned by a professional company that knew what they were doing. "This was not rocket science." I probably will not do anymore "Big Deals" since this one blew up in my face, so to speak. I think a lot of small companies cannot handle the extra time and work it takes to fulfill the "Big Deal".

It went well. Thought $75.00 was a little high for the dryer vent. They then deducted extra for an estimate on roof cleaning which I have not had done at this time. They showed me the debris that came out of the vents and answered all of my questions regarding method and effectiveness of their work. They were courteous and did not track dirt around.

It went just fine. They were on time and efficient. They got the job done. They were very pleasant and professional.

A straight-forward job: done in 15 minutes.

It went very good and quick. I was given a window of time and he made almost at the end of the window. He cleaned the gutters but forgot to clean the drains. I asked about it and he apologyzed and went and cleaned them.

As stated above, it didn't go well for me!

fter I booked them on Angie's List I tried to call them to set up an appointment and left at least two messages and never heard back from them until after I waited two days and then cancelled and went with another company.

The experience was very good.

Very well. The windows were cleaned beautifully and, though it was quite cold outside, he was diligent in cleaning more windows than expected for the four hours purchased.

Badly...not at all...no-show

When the original service date arrived, we got a call early morning to let us know the service crew was sick with flu. We rescheduled for about 10 days later, with the date set by the company. We assured them we were not in a hurry and we wanted them to be well before they came. On the new date of service, we got a call early morning to get additional instruction on directions to our home. The service workers arrived at 9:15. (The promised time was between 9:00 and 10:00.) The two young men were very courteous and removed their shoes before coming into our house. My husband showed them our wood stove location and then took them outside to show them the chimney pipe. He encouraged them to be careful when getting on the roof and told them he was more concerned about their safety than damage to our roof or chimney. After some time, the workers told us they were unable to figure out how to remove the chimeny cap from the pipe. They said they were not the regular chimney cleaning crew and that they had never seen one of these types of caps before. (We've had our chimney cleaned by other professionals for the past 15 years with no problems. Our "old" chimney sweep no longer services our neighborhood.) They were preparing to leave, but gave it one more try and discovered the cap was friction fit and they finally removed it. The one worker continued with sweeping the pipe while the other worker came inside and began vacuuming the ashes and sooty material from inside the wood stove. They finished up and left. My husband then set and lit a fire in the wood stove. Smoke immediately began to pour out of the stove into the family room. My husband was able to shut down the fire and remove the smouldering wood to the outside sidewalk. We called the company and told them something was wrong and described what happened. We were assured that the workers "knew what they were doing" and that they would be back soon to take a look. In the meantime, my husband was able to use a flashlight and see a large amount of debris blocking the chimney throat. When the men arrived, my husband told them he thought he knew what was wrong and showed them the pile of stuff inside the stove. The workers were very apologetic and vacummed out the woodstove again. While they here, their boss arrived to see how things were going. They let him know the problem was taken care of. After the workers left the second time, my husband happened to look behind the wood stove and discovered a great deal of black soot on the floor and covering the pipe for the outdoor air supply. As this was something we could clean up, we didn't call to report the mess. We were not happy with the experience overall, but appreciate that the workers were polite and apologetic about the service problems. We think the management made a mistake by not deferring our appointment until an experienced crew was available. We wish we would have been offered the option of rescheduling again if it meant we would get seasoned workers. We gave the price a "C" because even though it was a bargain, we would have paid more to get quality service.

This was a popular deal! Nevertheless, I got an appointment reasonably soon. The service people were delayed arriving due to a scheduling problem, they said;but they called to explain and were only somewhat late. Since my dryer is in the basement, they had to lug heavy equipment downstairs. They were careful not to damage anything or track in dirt. The cleaning took 20-30 minutes total, and the service people were extremely pleasant. This company offers numerous cleaning services, and I would definitely give them a call for any planned future work.

After 9 days of trying, we finally got in touch with the proprietor and scheduled a cleaning for next week. I will edit the revise this after the service has been performed.

Arrived on time. Suggested a replacement of corroded duct but didn't push it. Stayed until both sides of duct was cleaned thoroughly.

Overall expierence was ok. After they were done, the dryer was getting very hot and not drying the clothes. We had to call them back out. The first time they cleaned the vent from the outside which caused the line to plug inside where the dryer hose is attached. They came back out and cleaned from the inside and made it right.

They were very cordial and courteous. I think they did a very thorough and fast job. They were very knowledgeable. We had a lot of questions. They are hard workers. We watched them and they explained everything that they did. There were some add-ons so you have to watch the deal carefully. It only covers 10 vents. It was almost doubled in price so be sure to ask those questions.

Fine. The team ran into a small problem--the brush system briefly stuck in the duct--but they knew and used the tricks necessary to reverse and remove it. No big deal. The entire process, which included a few minutes helping me insert a LintAlert system for monitoring air flow, was less than an hour. Very nice guys, and very professional.

I called and left a message at the given number and received no reply.

Overall, the experience was good. Two workers came, we talked about how many windows they would be able to clean within the two hour window and they set to work. After two hours, my windows were much cleaner, especially the large windows that were 20 feet up in the air in my living room!

The young man that did our gutter cleaning was prompt and got the job done in a reasonable amount of time. HE cleaned up after himself and was courteous. He also recommended somethings that we could do to help our drainage once we do our remodel.

It has gone very well. They get better each time they come.

I purchased the big deal and contacted the company immediately. It took several days for them to get back to me, and they left me a voicemail. Since then, for a total of 15 days, I have tried daily to call. I have left numerous messages on their phone, but have not been able to schedule an appointment. Today, I called three times, and realized that I am most likely not alone. Their voicemail was completely full. Clearly there are others who have been going through the same thing. I am not certain whether they have not been able to deal with the burst of work that the offer generated, or whether their operation is a scam. I would have liked to have the opportunity to judge myself.

Although this was an Angie's List Big Deal, I was able to schedule an appointment within 10 days of purchase. The cleaning team came on time with the right equipment and did a good job. There were no sales pitched for heating duct cleaning, video inspections or anything else. Very nice.

They were very flexible in scheduling. I could not be here when the work was done. But they showed up early so I had the chance to meet the guy and they did a great job. This is the second time they have done work for us and I would use them again.

I've used him before. He did a very good job. He's friendly and thorough and makes no messes. I even tipped him!
