Thank you so much Greenwood Heating & Air Conditioning! Our air conditioning was working downstairs, but even though the system seemed to be working fine, it wasn?t blowing through the upstairs vents. Unfortunately we had 2 other companies come out before calling Greenwood. The first company sent a technician out 3 times. Even though we said we had recently had the ducts cleaned and that we thought it might be a problem with a damper or the ducts, the tech insisted that could not be the problem and refused to look. He was unable to diagnose the problem. He said he would discuss it with his boss and have him get back to us, but we never heard from them again. The second company also was unable to determine the problem, but said the entire system should be replaced (it?s only 9 years old). Fortunately we found Greenwood! When Imran arrived and we explained what was happening, he immediately said ?It sounds like a problem in the ductwork, I need to get into the crawl space.? When we opened the crawl space access, there was a duct right at the opening that was split apart. He also found a damper that was broken, and additional places that the ducts were separated (they were installed badly using LOTS of dried out duct tape). So, instead of cooling our upstairs, all of the cold air was going into the crawl space. Ken did a great job of repairing/replacing the damper and ductwork, and the system works better than ever now! We wish we had found Greenwood first?it would have saved us the cost of 2 wasted service calls.

I have used Greenwood for the past 8 years and have received really terrific service each time. They were one of the few places in my area that service Rinnai tankless water heaters. I reached out to them to install a new furnace in the crawl space of my home because of my past experience with them (and because they received good reviews on Angie's List). One of their service reps came out to meet with me and discuss my needs. He recommended a Lennox heater of a size that would be suitable for my 950 SF home. He explained his reasons for recommending the product that he did and I felt like he was listening to what I wanted (and didn't want). He offered guidance but let me make the final decision. The installation went very smoothly, despite having to work in a crawl space with a height of maybe 4' in some spots but more like 3' in most. They discovered that although the heating duct appeared to be lined, it in fact was not. That was an extra fee but it was reasonable and a necessary investment to prevent fumes from leaking into the house. They cautioned me against turning the unit on until they had a chance to install the sleeve and came out promptly to do the work. Courteous, professional and reliable. I trust them. I got the work done in May so haven't yet had to use the furnace to heat my house (although I've used the fan to keep it cool and it has worked well) but I feel confident in their work.

I did some troubleshooting online using You Tube and Google and thought it was probably the capacitor which it was. I toyed with the idea of trying to replace myself but thought better of that......It was in bad shape....bulging and ready to explode from the looks of it. Gordon was very patient and explained a lot to me while fixing it in 90 degree heat!!!! He was not at all condescending to a female customer. I always call Greenwood for the gas furnace, fireplace and this 10+ AC unit which they installed and never had a trouble with it.
Description of Work: Technician Gordon replaced the Dual Capacitor in Trane Air conditioner, diagnostics and tested system. Got it working and made sure of all functions.

Service people are competent but will recommend unneeded replacement parts when it begins to show SLIGHT wear or degregation. I'm mechanically inclined so I bought some parts myself and did repairs. I can see labor charges...but their parts prices were much much more expensive than I got myself. For example, tech recommended new fan motor since measured resistance was outside of specs. He said replacement was upwards of 700.00 and might consider replacing heat pump/furnace system since it was 15 years old. Did it myself for 200....still working great.
Description of Work: Have contract for annual furnace and heat pump maintenence. Service okay but very pricey on parts etc.

We were a little nervous about new technology (and how the wall units would look), but we LOVE it! We couldn't get traditional A/C compressor due to small lot and not having a good spot for it, but this compressor is more vertical so fit easier. Plus, with no more furnace running and blowing dust around, my allergies and asthma have been so much better. That might also be because the filters in wall units have strong anti-allergen properties. I often turn on cooling even if it's not all that hot. We typically run on lowest/whisper speed and it really does "condition" the air. And quiet! If you are interested in ductless, and worried about allergies, note that the ceiling units (which are flush with ceiling) do NOT have the better allergy filters. The people at Greenwood were excellent. I was actually a little surprised at how good everyone was. Rod was the sales guy; really liked him. He seems genuine and not pushy at all; he wants you to feel good about your decision. And he brought his laptop so was able to price different options on the spot - and they stick to their estimates. Every communication beyond that point was professional and responsive. The installers (Bob, Gerald and I think the last guy was Chase) were pros and very courteous and good to have around. Also, for ductless, this was the lowest of 3 bids we got on the Mitsibushi system. The bids were not identical because some had ceiling units, which are more expensive. But one of the bids was REALLY high. With ductless systems, people often keep a backup furnace to use if temps get down into teens or lower. So we're keeping our furnace at least through next winter to see how it goes. We have a gas fireplace so maybe could get by. Our furnace is old so ductless was still cheaper than a new furnace and traditional A/C would have been. And the ductless is supposed to keep heating even below 0, I believe; it just runs less efficiently.

Fantastic. It started from my first call to Greenwood. They were very quick in returning my call and scheduling our annual maintenance service. When our heat pump suddenly stopped working (a unit they did not install), of course when the weather suddenly turned warm, I called to see if we could move the appointment to an earlier day to restore A/C in the house. They were fantastic in moving things around so they could come by 2 days earlier than originally planned. The service technician Pat showed up right on time. Went right to work. Did a great job on the furnace and hot water tank annual service. Quickly diagnosed the root of the problem with our heat pump, walked me through the options for fixing it, and then quickly completed the required repairs. He was the ultimate professional, and went above and beyond in all of his work. I would highly recommend Greenwood

We have been remodeling our condo and needed to replace the furnace and A/C which were over 20 years old. This was a difficult project since the furnace was in a closet with little space and the A/C unit was mounted on the roof of our building. We interviewed several contractors and Greenwood was the only one that developed a plan that met our needs. Greenwood had a Lennox furnace that fit into the available space with the latest features for efficiency and noise reduction. And, Greenwood was easily able to meet the City's building codes for replacing the roof mounted A/C. The other contractors we interviewed had complex plans that were much more expensive to implement. The overall replacement went smoothly. The installers started work on schedule and everything went well. The installers were able to work around some snags that occurred and the project was completed on time. The quality of the work was outstanding and the new units work great.

I contacted them through Angie's list to replace a automatic filler on my boiler. When the technician arrived he inspected the problem and declared that they could replace it but they don't have one with them. He then informed me that the "simple fix" would be 500$ on top of the part and the inspection fee. None of this was communicated to me in advance , there was no mention of an inspection fee. I found another provider able to do the job for just less than $200. This company is a rip off , do not use them.

(removed member's name) I apologize if you were not informed that we charge, to have diagnostic boiler technicians run house calls. It is our policy to quote diagnostic charges when ever a call is booked I am sorry if that did not happen for you. I believe the charges are with in reason across this industry and congratulate you for getting the repair done for so little. For a repair like this to happen many things need to happen I will run through a few of them, typically your boiler system needs to be drained, the faulty feeder would need to be replaced, this could take an hour or two, then the system would need to be refilled and radiator or infloor would need to be purged of air, this could take an hour to three some times much more. Many system can be very difficult to purge all the air from a system. I have not seen your home and many installation differ from one to the next however this would be the basic strategy in replacing a feeder valve. I am happy you had your system repaired however the correct cost is closer to the $500 that most reputable companies would charge you. When considering this is a estimate on repairs that you believe is going to take 3 to 6 hours plus a replacement feeder valve, I believe that the $500 quote was well with in reason. I believe that our boiler technicians are extremely well trained and thee are far too few boiler technicians in our area. So they are also compensated very well for there knowledge. A company that charge's $200 for a boiler technician to do 3 to 6 hours worth of work either is not using a licensed service technician or will not be around very long at all. They had to come out several times to make adjustments to the furnace since it was not functioning properly. The end result was good but they had to come out a number of times to rework things. So I would not say they are outstanding but overall I was satisfied with them.

We waited 3 weeks for an appointment. The estimated cost seemed high. The day of the appointment I called their office to confirm their arrival time that day and was informed their schedule had the appointment for a week later. I knew my calendar was correct & expected Greenwood to remedy the situation. They did by rescheduling our appointment 2 days later. This was acceptable. On appointment day, technician Don Page arrived on time, was friendly and had a professional appearance. He toured our home for the locations of duct openings and was very knowledgeable answering our questions. The work started at 9 am and was complete by 2 pm. The work areas were left clean. The service was worth the price paid. We will use Greenwood Heating/AC in the future & recommend their services to family, friends and neighbors.

From the sales rep, Todd, to the installer and his assistant, Jake and Nobu, everything was professionally done and on-time. I appreciated how well Todd and Jake knew their areas of business, and how quickly Jake and Nobu went to work when they arrived. They stayed late until the job was done, and left everything clean. Jake did a great job explaining the new thermostat to me. Todd was well informed about the furnaces that Greenwood offered and helped me understand what I would be getting from each. On a side note, I got a kick out of what furnace "geeks" Todd and Jake were, as each admired the old duct work around the old heater. a great experience all around. THANK YOU!

The technician came out and had our furnace running again in about 20 minutes. It had seemed like a complicated issue, and we were afraid it was going to be extensive damage and a costly repair. He was very knowledgeable, quick, and fixed it right away, only charging us for the service call. What a relief. We had a technician from a different company come out the week prior, and he seemed uncertain of how to fix the problem, so we decided to call Greenwood instead.

Greenwood heating installed my two furnaces about 12 years ago. My larger furnace has always been a little difficult, so I signed up for the Greenwood Heating maintenance plan, and they have come out every year. I must admit, it was easy, so I never questioned the cost of the plan or the quality of the work. Some service reps were very good, others were ok, but the furnace worked with the occasional repair. But this year, the service rep, while polite and punctual, spent over two hours working, sold me an almost $200 filter (which is not covered in the price of the maintenance plan), which he installed. Then, when he presented me with the service invoice, he told me that my furnace should not be run for more than 10 minutes at a time because it is dangerous. He had me go down to the furnace room to see where flames had charred outside some vents, and he said I should just get a new furnace because it would be very difficult to figure out exactly what the problem is. I asked him why he didn't tell me this before he bothered to clean it, and his response was that the furnace needed cleaning!!! I pointed out that this is not true if the furnace isn't usable. Also, why would I want a new expensive filter installed in a non-working furnace? He argued with me, and then said I could use the filter in the new furnace they would install--interesting. He also insisted that I needed to pay for the maintenance plan for next year. Needless to say, I got a new furnace, but not from Greenwood Heating. I obtained bids from three companies, and Greenwood Heating's bid was the most expensive by far. I did get my maintenance plan money back, but not the cost of the filter, since Greenwood says I can use it with my new furnace, which happens to be true, but the maintenance plan I've signed up for with my new furnace company includes the filter in the cost of the plan, and it is still less expensive than Greenwood Heating's plan. I must add that I used Greenwood Heating one last time a few weeks later to service a gas furnace in a rental house I own, because I paid for the service last year. This tech was very nice, but he didn't even have a furnace filter on his truck to match my furnace, and the filter is a standard size. So, I had to go to the store and buy a filter and put it in myself. I will not be using Greenwood in the future, as I believe they have a real quality control issue, and I've found that they are much more expensive than other companies.

(member name) I would like to say I am truly sorry for they way this was handled. We absolutely should have stopped what we were doing once we found that the furnace was not safe. The correct course of action when ever one of our maintenance technicians finds a possible issue with a furnace is to ask for a second opinion from one of our senior technicians to verify the cause of the issue. This obviously did not happen here. The technician that performed the maintenance has been with us for quite some time and should have known better to continue on with your maintenance. I have trained almost all of our technicians and installer and except responsibility for our technician not following our guidelines for situations like this. I feel you have every right to be angry with how this worked out and only wish we could do more to rectify the situation for you. We are a growing company that suffers from growing pains from time to time and try to do the right thing when ever possible, however admittedly we do make mistakes but do try to make it right where we can. We used this company last year for furnace maintenance and pre-paid at that time for maintenance this year. We were satisfied with the quality and most other aspects of the maintenance service both this year and last. Last year all service was routine and no special parts were needed. This year all was fine except that the technician noticed that the motor run capacitor was failing. He quoted us a price of $200 to replace it. When my husband expressed incredulity at the price, the technician checked his records and told us that since we were preferred customers we'd get a discount and he could replace it for around $150. My husband declined and said he'd check into the price elsewhere. Turns out it is a self-contained, stock part and can be obtained via the internet for as little as ~$3!!!! It snaps into place, so requires no special expertise to install. My husband ended up ordering two on the internet and with tax and shipping it came to less than $20. My husband called Greenwood to complain about the obvious price gouging. The manager he spoke with said that the technician was relatively new to the job and probably quoted the price for a much more expensive part. The manager said Greenwood's price for replacing the capacitor is ~$45. This is still many times the price you can get the part for online....and it's not like the online retailers aren't making money on the part. I am happy to hear that you were resourceful enough to make your repair your self. The difference we have in our pricing is very simple, we cannot compete with national online retailer and we simply do not try to. We use local distributors with more support for our technicians, office staff and our customers. Unfortunately they charge us more for our parts than on line retailers as well. Our cost also include the labor to install the parts and a warranty on all parts we install. One thing national online retailers cannot do is diagnose install and stand behind products they sell there customers. I apologize the technician did not understand the pricing well enough to quote you the correct amount to begin with, he has been with our installation department for 5 years and has allays shined as an employee so we gave him the opportunity to move up and do service work. So while he was new to his position he is not a new employee at Greenwood Heating. From estimate to final touches, the project ran like clockwork. Everyone was courteous and efficient, respectful of my property and willing to answer any questions I had. I would definitely recommend them and use them again if necessary.

Arrived on time and generally did an efficient job. Despite our monthly cleaning of the filters, there was a lot of lint/dog hair that passed through to the heater coils in the supplementary electric heater. Vacuuming this was not included in the $180 promotional price, so I had to agree to pay an additional $120 for what appeared to be less than 20 mins additional work.
Description of Work: Inspected and cleaned heat pump inside and out.
