Greenwood visited my home several times over the course of almost a year. My old furnace was repaired and then continued to act up, eventually triggering my smoke detector in the middle of the night. Greenwood technicians visited my home to fix the furnace and after the initial visit, did not charge me for the follow-up visits. The technicians were patient and didn't leap to recommend that I purchase a furnace. Instead, they made diligent effort to fix the old one. After some frustration with repairs that should have worked, it was clear that the furnace needed to be replaced. Greenwood ordered and installed the furnace and new thermostat control within a few days at the end of last Spring. My furnace is up and running and has been working very well.
Description of Work: Purchase and installation of a new furnace after repeat visits to repair my old furnace were unsuccessful.

Arrived at 3 pm (had been given 12-4 window...shorter window would have been nice). Alan was friendly and thorough, tried to sell me a 1 year service contract but didn't push when I declined. Thoroughly tested, turned on gas fireplace and took me through its operation. Spent time going over operation of the thermostat for the furnace as well.
Description of Work: Furnace tune-up and inspection of five year old furnace in newly purchased house, replaced media air filter. Also inspected gas fireplace. Firestop in garage ceiling (for flue from original Greenwood installation in Aug 2001 which was not done) needed to be scheduled for following week.

Every stage of our experience with Greenwood was positive, from the initial estimate to dealing with a small problem after the installation. They were (see above) very above-board and fair about pricing, and offer a generous warranty. We got 6 other bids and felt most comfortable with Greenwood. We also like the units they use (Lennox), which are significantly quieter than the leading competitive brand. The A/C market in Seattle is booming, and there seem to be many unscrupulous new companies out there trying to cash in on the boom and offering dogdy products with no service - all the more reason to go with someone with an established reputation.
Description of Work: We had a 15-SEER heat pump/air conditioner installed. Greenwood is an exclusive Lennox dealer, and we went with them both because the company itself has a good reputation. The Lennox units they install seem to be the quietest on the market. We got an appointment with them after 10 days (at the peak of the hot season). They did all stages of the installation and necessary duct work, and there was never any messing around with the price - the price we were quoted was what we were charged, everything included. An intial problem with a valve in the pump was dealt with right away. They sent a technician the same day, very friendly, who located the problem. It was just a question of replacing the valve, but several hours of work had to be done (pressure testing, vaccuuming the lines, etc.). All of this was done on warranty, no questions or quibbling. Everything now works really well.

The fan finally gave out on our 19 year-old furnace. Greenwood came out to service it and the rep said he could replace it (it would cost a few hundred dollars), but since the furnace was so old it would be better to replace the whole thing. He called another rep to come out and give me an estimate that day; he was there in 30 minutes. Lennox has a $1000 credit if you replace our old furnace before 20 years is up, which was a nice surprise. We had another company come out and give us an estimate, but they couldn't beat that $1000 credit. My husband worked at home while they were there and he said they pretty much kept to themselves and did their thing. I would have felt comfortable leaving them at our home by themselves, but we have a big dog that we couldn't find a place for. I didn't want them to deal with our dog underfoot.
Description of Work: I called on a Monday to make the installation appointment and they came out on Friday. They were there from 9:00 to 3:30, and did great work. Installed the new furnace and thermostat and took the old furnace away.

The work was scheduled for the following Monday, but they had to reschedule to Thursday due to a staffing problem. On that Thursday they were scheduled to arrive between 8 - 9 a.m. and didnt get there until almost 11:00.
Description of Work: I called on a Monday morning to request a service call for our broken heat pump/air conditioning system. A service tech came out Tuesday morning and inspected our system, which turned out to have several problems and would require a half day or more of work to repair. Our four year-old system had never Been serviced, and apparently had a couple of improperly installed connections, was leaking oil, and needed several replacement parts and coolant, and cleaning. Kevin was very thorough in explaining everything and in no way pressured me to proceed with the work or with the annual service agreement but I decided to get both. They did a great job, were professional, clean, and I feel confident in the work done and the annual service my system will now receive.

Outstanding. These people are prompt, efficient, and professional. Its pleasure to do business with them. Last year my furnace went off on Easter Sunday. I had company. It was cold. Greenwood was at my home with space heaters within an hour of my call.

In general Greenwood Heating was easy to work with and very professional. I would have given them an A rating across the board, but when they had finished the installation, the fan would not work and the installers arranged to have a repairman come out that day to check it out. The installers thought it was a problem with a defective mother board. The repairman said one of the wires was attached incorrectly. Fortunately, this was easily fixed, but it left us wondering if there were other things that had been done incorrectly.
Description of Work: Removed old furnace and installed a new top of the line Lenox furnace and thermostat. Rebuilt sheet metal connecting furnace to duct system. Instructed us on the use of the new furnace.

WOW - Super fast! They came by on Wednesday to diagnose the problem and installed the new furnace on Friday from 7:45 to 12:00. They were very professional and willing to answer a lot of questions. No buyer's remorse from me. Compared to other contractors I've worked with, these guys were GREAT!

They called when Jeremy was on his way (in the middle of our 4-hour window.) He was very polite, wore booties over his shoes and filled me in on the status of our furnace and heating system. I had several questions for him which he answered for me. He was courteous and efficient and we are happy with the maintenance. We will definitely call them again.
Description of Work: We bought our house about six months ago and wanted general maintenance performed and a look out for problems. He cleaned the filters, checked the ducts and the state of the furnace and corresponding parts.

OUR FURNACE BROKE AND GREENWOOD PROVIDED THE QUICKEST AND LEAST EXPENSIVE OPTION FOR US. WE HAD USED GREENWOODS ANNUAL SERVICE CONTRACT IN THE PAST AND WERE SATISFIED WITH THEIR OVERALL SERVICE. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND, THE COMPANYS NAME IS THE SAME BUT NEW INDIVIDUALS ARE NOW OPERATING THE COMPANY. MY LANDLORD IS NOT HAPPY WITH THEIR SERVICE.
