They came out and gave me a bid on replacing the windows with new vinyl windows. The price on the bid was much higher than the other bids I received.

Chris was a pleasure to work with. He was punctual and professional and took just as much time as was necessary. He did not try to upsell me on anything, but was sure to answer all of my questions. I placed the order, and then it was several weeks before I heard anything further regarding installation. I called several times to ask when installation would be scheduled, and Chris always returned my calls promptly. He informed me that their installation schedule was very busy, and after a few weeks was able to give me an installation estimate for a few weeks out. I did not hear from him the week before the estimated installation date, so I called him and we firmed up installation plans. The installers arrived on the day and time expected, and explained how long they expected the work to take, and what conditions might change that. The installers were very friendly and pleasant. The installation generally went smoothly, but some extra work was required when they cut the one window opening larger and discovered that they would have to move some electrical. They did this and were back on their way shortly. This increased the cost of the install and Chris had warned us ahead of time that this may be the case if any electrical was in the way of the larger window opening. It only added an extra hour of labor. The process also hit a snag when they opened up the bathroom shower window and discovered ants and fairly some rot in the wall. My husband was home and so they paused work briefly to show him the issues and explain the ramifications, and then proceeded to re-frame the opening and install the new window. No other issues arose, and they were done by the end of the second day.

They were fine when they came to measure my windows and gave me an estimate. However, the installation got messed up. The old windows had a decorative piece of wood, when they took that out and put the new windows in leaving a large beam sized gap left. When I talked to him about it, he tried to tell me that he informed me of this. Twice they rescheduled and did not show up. Then one time they came early and I was not here so he yelled at me for not being here. Finally he came back and fixed the windows. He did not sand the top of the windows properly. There were some windows that were not sealed either.

They did a good job. They were on time for their appointments.

I liked that they had a very high rating on Angie's List. The price was very reasonable and competitive. When the work was finished, the crew was extremely professional and cleaned up really well after themselves. They did a nice job not causing any excess damage around the windows they installed. I was very pleased with the work that they did.

He was really professional, informative and courteous. He was very low pressure and his bid was extremely competitive. He seemed very trustworthy. I would have chosen him, but we have a family friend offered to do it for us at cost. He knew that he was going against this price, but was still very informative and low pressure. I would recommend him to others.

Chris, owner and salesperson, did a fine job explaining our options and not "overselling" us when he certainly could have. with our old home, there are some trouble spots and he was very honest and forthright on what he would do "if it were his home"--practically, aesthetically and financially. Along with Chris, the team of installers was hardworking, courteous and respectful.

Price and Value were excellent. Emerald City's bid was competitive, even lower, than other bids I received from companies that were rated far far lower (bids I got before joining Angie's List). The ONLY reason I ended up choosing the contractor I did over Emerald City Energy was that the other contractor came up with a very clever solution for an awkward sized picture window that tied it in architecturally with the other front-facing windows. I was all set to give Emerald City the job when the very last contractor (out of 6) came up with the unique solution, and so I am going with that contractor even though it's a higher price (I don't feel right about taking one contractor's idea and then shopping it around to my previous bidders). Therefore, I can honestly say that I would not hesitate to call Emerald City Energy again in the future for other work; I think this was my best Value bid.

We called Emerald City Energy to schedule an estimate. I explained to the person on the phone that we wanted to hear about their aluminum window options. We weren t interested in vinyl windows. Chris arrived just before the agreed time. It was evident there had been no communication as to what I had requested on the phone. After a few minutes with Chris he said "nobody does those anymore. We haven't done those for 5 years." I said if his company had not installed aluminum windows in that many years we didn't want them to do it because quality installation is the most important thing in windows! We asked him to give us all our options as we don't have any idea what options are out there. He tried to backtrack, but it soon became apparent that white vinyl windows are what they want you to have and nothing else. We were offended by his unprofessional behavior and the fact that Emerald City completely wasted our time by coming unprepared and not being able to explain all our options to us.

Chris, the owner came to do the estimate, he was very nice and professional. Initially, I only wanted estimates for the main floor of the house, but since Chris' price came out to be lower than the others, I decided to get estimates for the basement floor too. The windows took some time to arrive, but I think it was mainly due to the end of the year holiday seasons. Gregg and the installation team showed up on time on the first day and was very courteous and professional. The quality of the installation was absolutely fantastic, especially on the finishing work. I really appreciate Gregg carefully cutting and fitting the wood pieces around the bay window. The trim and seal around the edges of all the new windows were meticulously done. I was also pleasantly surprised to see the installation team left me with a clean house on the last day, even cleaner than it was when they arrived. Overall I am extremely happy that I went with Emerald City for the job. Highly recommended!

Chris was a friendly salesman and let me know exactly what I needed. He showed up right on time. I got three other quotes and Chris was the lowest. A co-worker of mine used Chris and highly recommended him. The job was scheduled for about six weeks later. I was happy to get a call from Chris saying the windows would be installed in four weeks. The installers arrived on time and did a great job installing the windows. They were friendly and knew what they were doing and finished the job in about 3.5 hours. I am happy with my windows and need to save more cash to change out the remaining windows. I will use Emerald City Energy again.

After receiving 5 quotes, we found Emerald City. Chris provided a quote that was 30% less than anyone else. Chris was also able to identify several small changes to enhance the overall look of the work without increasing the cost. We booked the work and Chris was able to schedule the installation 5 weeks out. The crew did a great job installing the windows and left the house clean. There was a small screen defect and Chris was able to schedule a factory representative to come out and repair in just a couple of days. We did have a small issue with the installation team and I'm happy to report Chris went out of his way to work with my wife and me to correct the situation. The way he handled the situation displays the high level of personal ethics Chris brings to his work.

They did a very good job. The presentation was pretty good actually. We had a little few minor things that had to be redone. They came back and fixed them. The price was very competitive. I would definitely hire them again in the future.

These guys are fantastic. We had four different companies out to provide estimates and we picked Emerald City because we trusted them to do the job right, the estimate seemed fair, and we liked their product better than the one offered by the company with the cheapest estimate. When I met with Chris, he assured me that if anything ever went wrong with the windows, they would fix it, period. They are clearly very proud of their record (zero Better Business Bureau complaints) and they take it very seriously. Summer was fast approaching, we couldn't open any of the old windows, and we had house guests coming, so Chris promised to try to schedule the job in within less than the usual five weeks if at all possible, and he delivered. The installation crew was very professional, they got it all done in less than a day, and they did a remarkable job cleaning up. They followed up after the work was finished as well as when the final charges were going to be processed.

Using Angie's List and the BBB I narrowed down a list of 12 companies. I sent a 17 page request for proposal with pictures and measurements. Chris was the first to respond with the lowest bid and he didn't insist on sending someone out to 'sell' me on their products. His crew did excellent work and I'm very happy with the value I recieved - especially after dealing with the other companies. Long story short - after sitting through a couple of presentations from other companies (and saying 'no') then doing more research I concluded that many companies in this category rely on sales pressure to boost their prices. If you continue to say 'no' you will find out what they will really sell for. In my case I had bids ranging up to $20K for this job. Despite my request for a non-binding proposal - some companies insisted on sending someone out. They were not competitive and it was an annoying waste of time. Chris was flexible, competitive and let me buy the way I wanted to.

Chris, the estimator, was very professional. He took a lot of time to answer my many questions, and was responsive in returning my calls. I did sometimes feel rushed in trying to process his answers, but he is a very busy man. His estimate of when the installation would take place and how long it would take were dead on. Bill, the installer, educated me and consulted with me throughout the installation, and made thoughtful and experienced installation recommendations relative to the peculiarities of my situation. I felt Chris and Bill were very hard-working and had integrity. Their crew were the type of folks I felt comfortable having in my home. Their price was not the cheapest, but it was still reasonable. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to others.

This is the second time we have used Emerald City Energy. We used this company when we replaced our windows approximately 5 years ago. Chris is always prompt and polite; he takes very good care of his customers, and remembered us. Our windows for addition project arrived on time and without problems. Compared prices with another company and Emerald City had competitive pricing.

Chris never followed through after I requested an updated quote. He didn't seem too interested at all in my job, even though I was prepared to spend $30,000.

They were very prompt and extremely efficient to watch. They did a good job. I'm very pleased with the new windows and would recommend them to anyone.

OUR EXPERIENCE WITH EMERALD CITY ENERGY WAS GOOD. THEY REPLACED TWO WINDOWS. THEY CLEANED UP AND WERE CAREFUL OF OUR LANDSCAPING OUTSIDE THE WINDOWS. ALSO CLEANED UP THE INSIDE MESS AND TOOK CARE OF THE CARPET.
