Emerald City Energy

For the last several winters the windows in the Master bedroom have 'sweat' with condensation. I was concerned a seal had failed. The gentlemen from Emerald City Energy came out to take a look. He was on time, pleasant and very knowledgable. Fortunately the windows were fine and did not need replacing. Turns out the blinds were just too good at providing their own seal. There was no charge for the visit and the gentlemen did not appear put out for having come for nothing. I would definitely use this company again.

Emerald City had the lower of 2 bids. Their bid was prepared more quickly; the competitor had to change vendors to meet the appearance requirement. Their crew of 2 showed up promptly on the appointed day and finished most of the installation the same day, with a little bit of trim and caulking left to do the following morning.

Derrick and Himey showed up exactly on time. They were scheduled to arrive between 8:15 AM and 8:45 AM and they arrived at 8:30 AM. They got right to work and it took them about 8 hours to replace all 7 windows. They laid out canvas drip cloths that you usually use for painting so they wouldn't get dirt on our carpet. They worked fast and and barely took time for lunch. They vacuumed when done and were very polite. I had them cut back the window frame lining so that the window didn't stick out much more than the frame. I also had a slightly wider rough cut spruce trim of 3 1/2 inches. They handled these additional requirements with no problem. Dos Do turn your heat off so you don't loose it out your windows during the replacement process. Do stay out of their way so they can do their job. Don'ts Don't touch the windows or frames until the caulking has dried (1 day at least). Give it a couple of days before you attempt to do any paint touch-up.

Chris visited the site and listened to our concerns and made some recommendations. He presented a bid. Before the work was scheduled, he reviewed with us the details. The workmen were very prefessional and one hardly knew that they had been there. But we are very appreciative of our new energy effecient windows.

Chris contacted me within a day of my request for bid. No high pressure sales pitch just straight answers to direct questions. It's clear from talking to him that he focuses on quality and value and the full satisfaction of the customer. One time, he got the Simonton rep on the speaker phone so I could hear the two discuss the options for a particularly large picture window. Chris relayed my wishes and concerns to the rep and got me exactly what I wanted. Windows arrived in 4 weeks and Tom and crew installed in two days. Tom was very helpful and I could tell from his comments that he brought a wealth of experience. Both Chris and Tom explained precisely what to expect before and after the job. Both are very responsive and very nice. The crew cleans up fairly well and what I did dispose of myself was small and few. The job was done in early May and we've experienced temperatures since then ranging from the low 40's to 100 on 8/5/12. We've noticed that the furnace goes on less during cold days and the temperature was 15 to 20 degrees less inside when outside was 100. The other thing we've noticed is we don't hear road noise. It's been 4 months and there have been no problems with the install or the windows themselves. We are competely satisified from our experience with Emerald City Energy.

Emerald City Energy was wonderful. The owner, Chris, took a lot of time in helping us to understand what we were looking for and making suggestions, talking about their various products. The installation crew were really great to work with, they have to work with some really increment weather but they were very professional, hard working and they met their commitments and were very happy.

After doing research on Angie's list as well as checking valid business licenses we selected three companies to request bids. Chris at Emerald City was the best in every catagory. Responsive, prompt, prepared. We met with him and discussed our 'special' situation with a particularly large window. It was a fairly lenghthy process for us to decide what we wanted to do with it. Chris gave us several options and answered our MANY questions as we tried to find an option that we both liked and was affordable. Once the hard decisions were done, windows were ordered and installed within three weeks. The installers were curteous and professional. They did a grea job. We are very happy with the results

They were excellent, absolutely excellent; I would recommend them to anyone. They did what they said they were going to do on time. They gave us an Angie's List discount. They were in and out, clean; just perfect. I would absolutely give them all A's.

Overall, I am pleased with Chris and Emerald City Energy. They were very professional and answered all my questions. We had a slight bump at the end with a damaged screen but that was resolved. They missed caulking three of the windows, but the rest of the work was well done. Clean up was great. I recommend them.

Chris came out a couple months before the job to do the estimate. He was able to calculate a final estimate right on the spot (something other companies weren't quite able to do). He walked me through a few of the options and gave good reasons about why to choose the window brand they suggested. Apparently someone came to take critical measurements later, but they didn't even need to come in the house, so that was painless. On the day of the installation, the crew got the whole job done in one day. They cleaned up after themselves pretty well (a little sawdust still left, but not a big deal) and overall didn't require anything of me. It's now been about 2 months since the service, and the windows are fantastic. Our house feels more comfortable and quiet, our heating bill has gone down, and the windows are holding up great without any residual issues.

Some people enjoy having workmen come into their homes to change things, but I am not one of those people. Unfortunately, after 25 years it was time to upgrade the old windows, and I was lucky to find Emerald City Energy on Angie's List. Chris was very prompt for the estimate and couldn't have been more informative about his product. I asked many questions and he was very patient at answering every one without making me feel rushed or stupid. You won't find a nicer guy. The windows were ready a week ahead of schedule, and Tom and Derek were very fast and professional at the installation. All finished after 2 days and couldn't be happier with the new windows and door. Chris called after the job was completed to make sure everything was okay. So, after bad experiences with home improvement, I can finally say that this was a good one.

We accepted bids from a number of local contractors. Chris was professional and competitive. The team arrived on the day they were scheduled to do the work and they were efficient in completing their tasks. They cleaned up after themselves, leaving great, new windows.

My real estate agent referred me to Chris and Emerald City Energy. Chris came out and gave me a quote. He wasn't pushy and was really easy to do business with. He provided me with a number of options to control the cost of the project. The quote he provided was almost half the cost of what another company quoted me for windows and installation. I hadn't heard of PlyGem windows before but after talking to friends and family who have them I decided to move forward with the purchase. There was about a month of lead time to get the windows installed. The installation took two days to complete. His team was punctual and professional. I am happy with the installation process and the products that were installed. It's much quieter now inside the house. I'm looking forward to the winter to see what type of difference it makes to the heating bill. I would recommend Emerald City Energy to anyone that needs to have there windows replaced.

Even though I was going to re-install the screen myself, and it was a small job, he took the time to explain how best to re-install the screen. Not how I would have done it, and much less chance of damage. Very responsive and friendly.

We found Chris off of Angie's List and phoned him to ask for an estimate on replacing our bay window. He explained that we did not need a new window, showed us what we needed to do to fix the mold around it, and refused payment. Great guy. We will definitely use his services in the future.

Chris and his crew are very helpful and friendly from beginning to the end. They are punctual in each of the visit and respond very quickly whenever I have questions. Their price are competitive comparing with other bids I receive. My family loves the new windows installed. After the installation day, we find a minor problem with the windows itself after the crew left. I contacted Chris and he immediately followed up with the Windows manufacture and the issue was resolved a week after.

Chris came out a couple days after I contacted him via the internet. He did not use high pressure technique (like another bidder did) to get me to replace my doors. My concerns were going from French to sliders and having the look of my decor change. Plus another replacement would require additional painting as well as substantial increase in price. Something like $4,000 more. Chris was very personable, his crew was great. Worked fast and cleaned up good. Nice guys too.

When we told the owner, Chris, about our problem (dirty film on inside surfaces of triple glazed windows, which had us thinking we had to replace all the windows), he called a couple different companies to research the issue. He checked our city's airport noise abatement regulations, then printed them for us. He then suggested that there was probably a way to remove the inner, unsealed "storm" pane so we could clean, and told us what to look for. When we got home we tried his idea, and voila! We were able to take the window apart and clean the interior surfaces. We saved potentially tens of thousands of dollars, and will now have nice clean windows! Thank you, Chris! You will definitely be our choice for any future window installations.

Chris and his team were fantastic. Chris was no-nonsense when he came to do the original estimate, but was very personable as well. Right away I knew he was the kind of person I would trust with a major house project. His quote was not the cheapest I got, but he warned me of that upfront - however, I consider it money well spent when I look at the quality of the windows and the quality of the installation. Like Chris, his team was no-nonsense, but friendly and a pleasure to work with. They installed all the windows on the first day - in the rain - and came on the second day to finish the cleanup and caulking. They addressed all my concerns and questions, and came to me when they needed my direction. They even replaced a window in my basement garage that I hadn't asked to have replaced, when Shawn, one of the installers, noticed that he could switch out the existing window with a vinyl window I had torn out of the basement bedroom. They also noticed that one of the locks on a bedroom window was broken, and told me they'd put in a service order with the window manufacturer on my behalf. All in all, it was a great experience, and I would recommend them to anyone in a heartbeat.

Everything went pretty smoothly. On the first day they came and replaced all the windows. Next day they came back to replace the sliding door. While they were replacing the sliding door, they had to do some extra work to make it fit and look better. The lead carpenter guy, Tom, took time to do good quality finishing work. His detail of work made a huge different for the look. Before I hired this company, I got an estimate from pro windows and Home depot. Their proposal price was 15-20% less than these two other companies with the same grade quality window (which was energy tax qualified). Those new windows made a huge difference for my house's appearance!!

The estimate was accurate, the windows were ordered and arrived on time, the crew arrived punctually to do the installation, very professional, easy to work with. They were careful about the installation process and cleaning up. Overall, 'the process went very smoothly except for one mistake. We special ordered a large living room window to replace the existing picture window. When it came, the design was wrong. When we brought it to Chris' attention, rather than argue he immediately contacted the window manufacturer to discuss the specs and figure out what went wrong. He took responsibility for it and probably lost some money on it, but never blamed us through the process of rectifying the mistake. He was absolutely professional and honest. I respect him highly for that. We are very pleased with our windows - they work smoothly and were clearly installed by professionals who knew what they were doing. I would definitely recommend him to others.

Pretty smooth. The estimator and workers arrived when scheduled. The estimator on his initial visit was knowledgeable and not pushy about selling upgraded window products, although he did do a pretty vigorous promotion of Emerald City Energy at the end of the visit. His cost estimate was competitive with the other window companies that I dealt with. The actual window installation proceeded promptly and without difficulty. The window installation was done neatly and the new single hung units open and close smoothly.

They were very good and their pricing was also very good, but we didn?t want what they offered us. However, I would use only the required materials. That had nothing to do with the technician?s service, as his service was excellent. His responsiveness was good too. I would use their services in the future to get another quote.

The owner of the company Chris, submitted a bid along with 3 other window replacement companies. Two out of the three other bidders were highly rated on Angies List. The Emerald City bid was the lowest by a significant amount. I was impressed by Chris and felt that he was truly interested in customer satisfaction. The factory for the windows is located in Washington State. The quality of the windows was equal to or better than the windows from the other bidders. After selecting Emerald City to do the work, I paid a 50% cash deposit. About two weeks later, Chris called to schedule the installation. James and a helper did the installation over a three day period. They did a quality job and kept me informed as the job progressed. I had told Chris that I wanted the installers to take their time and do their best work. Quality is more important than speed when doing this kind of job! They carefully sealed all the new window units and specially built some flashing for a basement window to avoid problems down the road. I am very happy with Chris and the job his team did. Highly recommended!!

They quote and initial visit went great. They owner even went out of his way to show up earlier than we initially agreed on, and he rushed his visit in order to accomodate another conflict I had. This was much appreciated. In addition, his pricing was very competitive to other quotes I received for the same product. However, I didn't end up going with the company simply because we liked another quote we received for a different window manufacturer. The deciding factor was simply the window itself - pricing, service, everything else was very competitive.
