George was professional when talking through the project at my house and provided good recommendations on work. He provided an estimate a few days later and we agreed on his quote, and set up a date to start work. However, I sent a note about a week before starting and he disappeared for several days. 3 days before starting he replies and says he can't do the work with a cryptic reason why he's backing out (my guess he found something better). I scheduled time off of work and re-arranged meetings to be available and he couldn't extend the same courtesy. Completely unprofessional. I noted from other's reviews that this seems to be his M.O. He shouldn't be on Angie's List,

We have been trying to reach George for several months and it is very out of character for him not to respond. We have used his services over the last few years with great results. We have more work for him and would like to hear from him. We are concerned that something has happened to George. We hope he will contact us to let us know how he is doing.

Excellent! I've used this Handy Man service for several years now. Always happy with his work from start to finish. This time we had old tube style light fixtures replaced with round shaped LED fixtures earlier (by our son, the builder). There were a lot of holes and scratches/gouges to fix before painting. Our Family Room / man cave is 1200 sf. George was able to fit us into his busy schedule for one day. He worked alone, arrived on time, went right to work. We provided the paint and he provides everything else he needs. I was not there, but my husband was. George worked 6 hours on the project and I got home shortly before he finished. My husband was very happy with the job so I went ahead and wrote a check to George. Then later I went down to look and I was blown away at how beautiful it was. Just perfect! His patch work is invisible, and he didn't paint get paint on the fixtures like some professional painters have done in our home. I just can't say enough about what a great job he did on this difficult job. Painting ceilings is not easy, especially all that in one day, but when I saw George he was beaming and I knew he was happy with his work. He always does his best. I have had painting done by him before and been very pleased. We've had him work on several different types of jobs, and he has come through on every one with flying colors. I'm sure I left the report about the path he and his worker installed last fall, which withstood all the bad weather and rainy winter, and now extremely hot ... and still looks new and beautiful. AS ALWAYS, GEORGE IS A DELIGHT TO WORK WITH. HE IS ON TIME, AND VERY PROFESSIONAL. ONE OF THE BEST IN HIS FIELD. AND VERY HELPFUL IN EXPLAINING CLEARLY WHAT NEEDS DOING AND THE APPROXIMATE TIME OF THE JOB. THE PRICING IS REASONABLE AND CONSISTANT, SO NO SURPRISES...EVER! Let?s start with the good: Able to do drywall, paint, and lay tile. Was clear on what he wouldn?t do ? what I needed an electrician and plumber for. Asked for no money in advance and sent me a bill when done. (He needed to find out how much trash disposal was for final bill.) Price economical. Did show up the days he said he would. Aside from significant issues noted below, I?d say work was okay/average for the price, which was economical. Not good quality work, lousy communication and project management. Bad project management. Took a while to just get an estimate from him because the first several estimates he sent left out some aspect of the job, and I?d have to say back, did you include this? Same with emails. (He never speaks by phone, only email. Leave him a voice mail message asking him to call and he?ll text you back.). If you ask 3 questions in an email, he?ll respond answering1 question, so you repeat the other two and he?ll respond answering 1 . . . You get the idea. For this reason and because I had to select and schedule an electrician before George came, and I was traveling for a month, there were a 3 ? 4 months between when he came to see the job and give an estimate, and us scheduling the work. Which may explain his screw up with the plumber, but not really. He?s bad at telling the homeowner what?s needed for the job. He told me to buy tile but only thought after to tell me to choose mortar too. And only told me to get paint the day before he needed it, so I needed to make a special trip to buy it. But he really screwed up in telling me would be OK if the plumber came after he was done. When he came for the estimate, George said the plumber needed to come in the middle of his work, that he (George) would work before and after the plumber. A few months later, when we were scheduling the work, I asked George about scheduling the plumber, he said the plumber could come after he was done. I reminded him of how he said the plumber needed to come in the middle. ?No, anytime after is fine,? he said. (All this by email because he doesn?t talk on the phone.) WRONG. Because George had finished the dry wall and painting before the plumber came, the plumber had to work around the existing pipes and outlets rather than take out and replace. This seriously restricted the improvements I could make. Why George didn?t remember the plumber needed to come during his work EVEN WHEN I REMINDED HIM of what he?d said when he came for the estimate, I don?t know. Another frustrating avoidable screw-up was the guys used very very little sheeting to cover the closets and furniture in the room where they did the drywall, and to keep it out of the rest of the house. After the first day, I put up sheeting with some plastic I had but by then it was too late. White dust, everywhere!! And when they left they took some of my plastic sheeting. Well I hope they?re more generous with other drywall customers. George?s crew almost for sure caused visible damage on the other side of the wall where they took out paneling and put up dry wall. Unfortunately, since it was in my spare room, I only noticed after I?d paid him. After, I emailed George photos of the wall damage several times and asked if he had caused it. The ONLY time he responded was when I didn?t include photos. He responded to ask for the photos but didn?t respond about the damage, let alone take responsibility for it. Aside from all that, the work quality was . . . OK, not great. One ceiling they painted could?ve used two coats. Other contractors would have noticed that and asked if I was willing to pay more for a 2nd coat. George didn?t. One place where they added a little bit of dry wall around a light fixture could?ve really used some sanding, which wouldn?t have taken much time. No, just painted over it. Not good quality work, lousy communication and project management.

Was pleased with the work done, which was a mix of replacing and painting exterior boards and trim on our house. My issue with the vendor wasn't necessarily on the price of the work, but how the work was quoted and what the final cost was and why. The final cost ended up being ~$300 more than the original quote. We had discussed all of the work to be done during a quote visit, it was understood that materials and tax would be additional. The day the work was completed it appeared that the vendor did not know they were to paint all of the trim on our house, which was discussed when quoting. I have made several attempts to ask for reasoning as to why the additional trim painting raised the cost so significantly and haven't seen a response.

HE NEVER SHOWED UP ON THE TIME AND DATE PLANNED...I CALLED HIM BACK SEVERAL TIMES AND LEFT MESSAGES ON ANGIE'S LIST...HE NEVER RESPONDED...

He was supposed to do fix my fountain, hang curtains, a few "honey do" items. I spoke with him on the phone and we scheduled a date for him to come out. He never showed up.

He showed up on time for the estimate. He seemed very knowledgeable and fair in his estimate. He discouraged a repair, saying a replacement would really be better in this case. We then asked for an estimate on replacement. He was going to research material costs and get back to us with a new estimate. We didn't hear from him, so we called him back and left a message to let him know we were waiting for the estimate. No response back.

I called George about a week ago to perform a series of projects at our home. We scheduled for him to come out today, 5/19/14 at 10:30 AM. He never showed up, and worst of all, he never called to let me know why. I've never had this happen by any provider and it was a real surprise that it happened with a provider listed on Angie's List. I called him 3 - 4 times at various times during the day and evening to try to find out what happened. He never answered the phone or returned my calls. My advice to all Angie's List members is that if you're looking for a reliable handyman, don't call George Wyre as he may or may not ever show up, and if he doesn't, he will not even have the decency to call to let you know. Basically, I wasted the past week plus today waiting for this clown and now I've got to start all over to locate and schedule another provider. Hopefully, Angie's List will give Mr. George Wyre the boot as he does not deserve to be listed on Angie's List!

He gave me a half-hour window for when he would arrive and he was prompt. I thought I would have to have a segment of the gutter replaced, but he got most of the dent out so that the gutter is fully functional. This saved a lot of money. The caulking was starting to get loose on the tubs. He did a perfect job on recaulking. I was concerned that the water damage to the townhouse door was beyond repair. But he put a very excellent protective finish on the door where it was getting worn. It looked different than the rest of the door, but after 2 weeks the repaired area blended in with the rest of the door and it looks perfect now. I was amazed at his excellent problem solving skills and I imagine that his hourly rate might be the best handyman rate in this area. He is also excellent for giving advise on future projects. There is a 2 hour minimum for hiring him so have a list of things for him to do. He is a very efficient worker and got all the above projects done within 1 and a half hours. I would advise that you e-mail him a list of what you need done. He will let you know what he can and cannot do. I will definitely hire him again. Note that my bill of $98 was for 2 hours of work.

As always, George does a very professional job, while treating us like family. His work is impeccable. Plans well and does the work efficiently, but not in such a hurry as to make a mess of the job. Arrived as scheduled ready to work. He's my first choice whenever I need work done on or in our home, and he can do most anything and is very honest and straightforward if he cannot do something. Also, if I'm asking him to do something that isn't necessary, or that could be done a better way, he will be very honest about it and let me know all of the facts so I can make a good choice. George did a good job. He was always on the job when he said he would be and got the work done on time. The work was done really well in almost all cases. I gave him a B on quality due to a few details that were missed. I would definitely use his services again.

George responded to our request for estimate within a couple of days. We were pleased with his bid and his professionalism. Also, though he is a younger man, he is very experienced in doing this kind of work and has gotten the education necessary to do this type of work properly. His licensing, bonding and insurance is up to date and he is familiar with the process of permitting, and when it is necessary to get a permit for work to be done. He walked through our property with me prior to submitting his estimate, to get an idea of what we need done, and to help me prioritize and make decisions about the best materials to use and so forth. We are very glad we hired George. He scheduled our work day and was a about 20 minutes late arriving, due to the mess on the West Seattle Bridge that morning. I expected it, since it can be tricky getting over to the eastside on weekday mornings. We live near Microsoft in Redmond. Need I say more?? Anyway. George went right to work and got everything done that we had planned on this time. Though he works quickly, his work is impeccable. I was amazed at how well he installed that Garage Floor tile on our crooked concrete floors and walls in the storage room. The room looks very nicer than a common storage room. Very professional. He plans ahead and once he gets the plan in place, he works very quickly. He has his own tools and cleaned up very nicely when finished. His bill was quite a bit less than his bid on this job....and I questioned him about that because I thought there was a mistake. But the job was complete. He said he only charges for the time it takes and it did not take as long as he thought it would. I told him we expected to pay the full estimate...but he insisted. This is what I mean by old fashioned values. Very nice young man. We will hire him again and again.

George was great! He stopped at Lowe's before he came and picked up the doors since we don't have a vehicle large enough to get them home. He worked very hard, did quality work, and his prices were very reasonable. We will use him again next time we need help.

We have recently purchased a new home circa 1958. Once we moved in we discovered a lot of issues that the inspector had not identified including rotting floors and walls in the bathroom, mildew downstairs, and in addition we had MANY odd jobs that we were not qualified to do ourselves (plumbing, tiling, dry wall, other installations). George was a lifesaver! We worked with four other contractors and George was the one we could count on to be there on time, stick to his quote, and fix issues that we ended up having due to other contractors' work. He is honest, really pleasant to work with, and has terrific work ethic - he gets the job done right! George handled a skilled job of tiling work and did a great job with drywall. The amount we spent was higher because he was with us for over 5 days doing repairs and helping us with home issues. We are grateful to have George on speed dial and will continue to hire him for more jobs.
