It was horrible. Do not work with these guys unless you want to be taken for a lot of money and end up with shoddy workmanship that has to be redone.
Description of Work: We hired TruForce to remodel a home we purchased. Estimate came in at $38,000 and change with tax and a lump sum contract was signed with them. There were no signed change orders ever presented to us as the contract stipulated and TruForce came in with a final bill of almost double of the contracted price. The work done was horrible and we had to redo much of it before we could sell the house.

Response from TruForce Construction
In response to this review; we had a cost plus contract with [member name removed]. During the project several changes were requested by [member name removed], some of which were necessary and others that were just to improve the look of the home. [member name removed] had asked us to get this house ready to be flipped and wanted it done quick and cheap and we thought this was going to be the beginning of a long standing business relationship, so we did every change order with nothing more than a handshake. In the end [member name removed] took us for over $35,000 when he went back on his word. He denied ever agreeing to any changes, even though he asked to have every inch of plumbing redone with new pipe, nearly all of the electrical wire replaced, more than half the house redone with new sheet rock, a new roof, garage rebuilt, completely remodeled kitchen and two bathrooms, all new floors, and completely repainted inside and out. This was not just a basic remodel, this was a full restoration. When it came time to make the final payment, [member name removed] and his son [member name removed] dragged their feet on paying us, when we finally placed a lien on the house [member name removed] sued us. We spent over 25k on attorneys fees, and be aide all we had was a handshake with Scott we had to settle for around 21k, not even enough to pay all our attorney fees. Now lets talk more about what [member name removed] got; they were able to sell the house for 195k and after all expenses they made over $80,000. We researched them more after the fact and found that during the mortgage heyday they burned more than a few contractors. We even spoke to a former friend of [member name removed] who told us how he got burnt for over 100k when [member name removed] used him and refused to pay. [member name removed] owes an apartment in [member information removed] and through reviews, we have found [member name removed] is a slum lord who rips off his renters. It was never our intention to have this job go south, and honestly [member name removed] both told us how great the house looked right until the time they sued us saying we did bad work and tried to over charge him. They never paid us for even the material we used or the labor we used, we came out of pocket for all of it. The truth is simple, [member name removed] are trashy people, if you are a contractor, don't work with them, if you are looking to buy or rent a house from them, don't do it. They will find a way to screw you, take you for a ton of money and then more then a year later even after settling with you and still ripping you off, they will come to a place like this and try to stick it to you a little bit more. I think it's a good thing we no longer work in residential, it leaves us less of a chance to run in to people like these guys. Also watch out for anyone with the last name [member name removed] has such a bad name, he often puts houses and properties in the names I his kids to avoid everything from taxes to lawsuits. Anyone who wants to know the truth of the matter, you can contact us, we still have all of our records, including our bids, receipts, photos and every document from court. We had to pay subs, employees, and our credit cards and lawyer fees out of our pockets, [member name removed] stuffed theirs with cash.
