We were looking for new motorcycle for my wife and found a great deal at their shop. Eric Belshaw was our salesman and is is an asset to any motorcycle shop. He was courteous, honest, and gave me an excellent price for my trade in. After riding the motorcycle for a few weeks, my wife (and I) noticed some hesitation during acceleration. It was a carbureted bike and I figured it was just a minor adjustment. We took the bike in to the service counter and I was greeted by Richard Grassman. From the minute this man opened his mouth I could tell things weren't going to go well. Honesty, respect, and courtesy are not terms familiar to this man. After explaining to him the problem, he of course made it clear to me that I really had no clue what I was talking about and spouted some garbage about EPA regs and tuning of motorcycles, etc, etc. He then continues with his standard politician story about how if it turns out the problem with the bike was owner induced, ie: bad gasoline or water in tank, I would be charged $89 per hour with a minimum two hour time. I did my best to keep my mouth shut, but after he repeated this story for the third time I lost my temper. I made it clear to him how much money I spent on a brand new Yamaha and that there is no way to get 'water' in the tank of a brand new motorcycle that has only been fueled up once. I told him how great Eric Belshaw was and asked him to please not turn my good experience there into a bad one. Of course he insisted on telling me a load of other garbage but I think people get the picture. My wife dragged my out of the shop after my confrontation and we went home. Eventually the bike was fixed to our satisfaction but I never did find out what was done to fix the problem since my friend Richard seems to have a problem grasping with customer service and integrity. Many service guys don't think any further than the end of their face and forget that if you treat people like garbage you lose money (???). I had just finished telling Eric 20 min earlier that I would love to take a different bike for a test drive and perhaps purchasing another bike from them in the fall. My advice to fellow bikers is stay away from dealer service centers. Then again, most people know this by now.
