Description of Work: I had visitors in a basement apartment and the tub and toilet suddenly backed up. I called Spartan. They came the next day and tried to run a line to find the clog. Needed to use a camera...saw that camera could not get past certain point...called an excellent side-sewer repair specialist whom I then used to replace a broken line to my side sewer. Spartan charged for the initial "snake" and camera work, but didn't provide the rest of the services.

Explained problem and said jetting should resolve at additional cost stating no charge if jetting was unsuccessful. Problem was resolved satisfactorily. On time, explained each step and discussed problems with older plumbing and work arounds.

Description of Work: Spartan has become my go to business for anything plumbing because of their honesty, price and concern about my business. We have a water leak at a rental. They referred me to a business that specializes in underground leaks. The price seems right. He is scheduled to complete the work this Wednesday. He will probably refer me back to Spartan for the actual repair. I will let you know how it goes.

Description of Work: My basement drain that normally receives some rainwater beneath my basement outside door, suddenly spewed water and sewage from the adjacent drainpipe that carries wastewater from the house. The basement floor and finished walls were a mess and I looked on Angie's List for someone to come and unclog the drain and/or diagnose what might be going on. Spartan came right out and ran a cable into the drain. It was unable to pass through the drain after just a few feet. The plumber then got his camera and ran it into the pipe only to discover a blockage of mud that suggested a break in our very old side sewer. He was able to snake the camera through a little further and get closer to the street where there was another blockage. At this point I called my insurance carrier and asked the Spartan service man for some advice about how to proceed. He named several local clean-up companies who could help with the basement sanitizing and the names of several local side sewer repair companies. All of this was very helpful and I proceeded to look them up on Angie's List and found high ratings for each of them so proceeded. Spartan was very professional, helpful and thorough. I would use them again, absolutely.

Description of Work: a plumber from Spartan arrived when expected to give a repair estimate on a leaking cold water valve behind my washing machine on the 2nd floor. He said that the valve needed to be replaced which would involve cutting out the dry wall around the valve. Since Spartan does not repair dry wall, I would then have to hire someone else to do that work. He estimated that the total cost would be around $800. I, then, got another estimate from another company. They fixed it at no charge by just tightening the valve with a plumbing tool. The valve has not leaked since that time. Needless, to say, I am thankful that I got a 2nd opinion. I won't be using Spartan for any future plumbing needs.

Description of Work: Called to have the plumber come out and find out why our bathroom tub drain and toilet were not draining and the toilet was backing up? The tech started out by using the rotor rooter on the bath tub drain. Then the tech tried some things and then took off the toilet to try to get to the drain clear and that did not work. They then told my wife that they would need to video the sewer line and called another tech to come out and help, they would need to do this from the roof, and they were unable to get the line down the side sewer. They then wanted to dig up the side sewer to see if they could get going, they found that the side sewer had crushed and after digging up the line and replacing it with new pipe and clean out drain closed up the hole. However this was only a temporary fix and she was warned that it could last from a few days to a few months. They did not check to see if the rest of the line was clear and draining? The tech also told my wife that if the drain started to back-up to take the cover off the clean out and let the sewer water comes out? The clean out was sticking out of the ground about 5 inches so it looked very noticeable in white and he did not put a box around it. The man made a mess in the bathroom with the machine dripping rusty water from the area he parked on our sidewalks, porch, rugs, and bathroom. The bathroom floor and walls had nasty sewerage on them and where the man put his hands as he did not take care to wipe them or clean up after himself. We had to have another plumber come out and replace our side sewer and they found that the tech had put a plastic sleeve onto a cracked damaged pipe and did not take the time to at least find out if the sewer was draining before he left. The bill really ran up fast for the amount of work and quality of the repair they did and they did not fix the problem.

Description of Work: I got stuck replacing the sink, disposal, and faucet in the kitchen. I called about 8 AM and Mason was here by 1015. He got straight to work, and also fixed a toilet by 2:15 PM. He needed some parts and he said that that time did not count in the billing. It was a pleasure to work with him and I learned a few tricks that will make future plumbing jobs easier! I will call them again!
