+ -1 moreFloors that were finished were beautiful, but didn’t finish job. Did not return multiple phone calls. Very disappointed because we had a good rapport and he just disappeared. Everything said in other reviews is true, but in this instance I still have 1/3 of my floors unfinished. The portion unfinished is the hardest part of the job (stairs) and no other contractor wants to complete just that portion without a steep premium. So Russ left us in a difficult situation without the courtesy of a phone call. Very unprofessional and poor business practice.

Description of Work: Russ was very easy to work with. Communication was quick. His hardwood floor refinishing work is gorgeous. The job was finished on time and on budget. We highly recommend him.

+ -1 moreOverall, we are very pleased with Russ' work. We were using another contractor to remodel our kitchen when we hired Russ to come in to install some hardwood flooring. We liked him immediately and were blown away by his work. As time went by, we realized Russ could do much more than floors, so we hired him for more and more jobs, and he eventually finished the other contractor's work and corrected some mistakes that had been made. He has a very keen eye and when asked gives us a straight up answer to how things should be done. In addition, he listens to what we need and gives us options. Over a year has passed, and we are still pleased with his craftsmanship and overall work.
Description of Work: (Price above reflects latest completed job.) Russ has done beautiful work for us over the past year at a very fair price. He has installed hardwood floors, built a beautiful spiral staircase from a closet down to our basement, rebuilt our garage, as well as miscellaneous smaller jobs such as installing back splash tile, painting rooms and crafting trim work to match original trim throughout the house. Our 1899 house looks beautiful with Russ' craftsmanship throughout. Not only does Russ' craftsmanship and quality stand out from other contractors we've used in the past, but his attention to detail and thoughtfulness about keeping the workspace as clean as possible far exceeded expectations. Not once did we come home to a mess to clean up, even as we lived in the spaces he was working in. Each day as he left, he politely collected his things and took them with him or stored them in appropriate places at our home. Russ always listened and picked up on what we wanted and needed done.

+ -1 moreRuss does truly amazing work. He is meticulous, on time, and very reasonably priced. He did a stunning job on our floors and staircase and everyone comments on how remarkable they look. If you need new hardwood floors, old floors refinished (Swedish or water based), or a staircase built, you should call Russ. His work, his professionalism and his attention to detail are unmatched, and all at a very fair price.
Description of Work: Repaired and replaced numerous boards in vintage 1920s oak floors, patched and perfectly matched where former cold air returns had been in floor, built beautiful staircase with oak treads, and refinished 1200 square feet of flooring with three coats of Swedish Finish. The job was absolutely gorgeous. Russ worked all night so that the floors would be done in time for us to move back in. You just can't do better than this guy.
