Response from O'Shea's Painting
Unfortunately with paint jobs it is difficult to compare apples to apples on bids. It is not like comparing the price of milk at Fred Meyer vs Safeway. There are many factors that contribute to price including: *Quality of paint used *Amount of prep hours *Number of coats done (many painters don't really do two coats, despite what they say) *Skilled employees wanting paid for their ability We are capable of providing paint jobs for a variety of price ranges. As the typical Angie's List customer is looking for quality, I quote what I would do were it my house. As a result, I can point to 10 year old paint jobs that [Member Information Removed] look good. The problem with lower priced paint jobs is that at best they initially can look identical to a better job. But, one will last 5 years and the other 8 to 12. At worst you can end up with your roof and plants over sprayed, a permanent peeling problem that requires stripping the house or unskilled workers falling off the roof. Painting isn't like other trades where undoing bad work only requires a few hours labor. To undo a poorly adhering paint job, it can easily take $10,000 to $20,000.
