Father Nature Landscapes

Cameron from Father Nature was on time, professional and very knowledge. He explained things in a way that made sense to me. He gave an estimate for the scope of work that needed done. I had additional questions and was sent an Email in a prompt amount of time.

Chris Scheer and I walked the property to talk about options and what I wanted to achieve. He plotted the system layout. Workers arrived right on schedule, were thorough, left yard neat each evening, worked late to complete job on schedule. Chris returned to inspect project, show me components, etc. before final payment. So far, everything works perfectly. I have used this company several times -- for landscape lighting, fencing, general spring/fall sprucing up -- so I know they are consistently reliable, top quality, easy to work with. I did not get competitive bids, because for me, the confidence built from a several -year relationship with this company is worth more to me than a few dollars saved. Their prices are competitive, I believe, but probably not the cheapest. Even when they sub out part of a job, as in fencing, I know Father Nature will be my advocate to ensure all is done to spec and the way I want it.

We couldn't be more pleased with the experience and results delivered by Cameron and Father Nature Landscape. The proof of the results is further demonstrated by the multiple compliments we've received from neighbors--even stopping in their cars to tell us how great the project turned out (and it's not like the yard was a mess to begin with). At our first meeting to gather information for the proposal, I provided Cameron with a general idea of what we were thinking for the front yard. He quickly articulated back his understanding of what I wanted, plus his embellishments to really bring the overall design together and incorporate into the existing landscape. After receiving the proposal, I found it so reasonable and lower than I had budgeted, that I added in some work to the backyard to fill in some plant beds and clean up a drainage area in front of a hillside behind us. Again, Cameron took things up a notch by turning the drainage area into resembling a dry creek bed and bringing in a nice mix of plants. Cameron was very professional, patient and responsive to my emails as I tweaked the plant list. His crew was very efficient--completing the project in just over two days. I've already talked to him about some further work we are contemplating for next year.

Cameron McGinnis responded to our request for a bid, after my wife and I found Father Nature Landscapes on Angie's List. (We also received an estimate from another landscape contractor which was substantially less expensive, though this contractor projected his availability as September at the earliest.) Cameron impressed us with his professional approach. He clearly grasped our concept of what we wanted to accomplish, and improved upon it. Based upon the detailed proposal and Father Nature's ability to complete the project this Spring, we signed a contract, and we have no regrets about doing so. The one challenge we experienced with Cameron and Father Nature was Cameron's tendency to not clearly communicate scheduling. We were surprised one morning shortly after signing the contract and paying our deposit by Cameron and the excavation sub-contractor, who showed up out of the blue. Cameron explained that the excavator had an unexpected window of availability, which was okay with us. I did explain to Cameron that we needed him to "keep us in the loop" from now on, which he readily (and apologetically) agreed to do. (Cameron did a much better job of this, to his credit, although the promised packet of sod care information has yet to arrive, as of two weeks later.) The excavation contractor, GreenTech, did a superb job of demolishing the rockery while preserving our flowering cherry tree. (I am submitting a separate review for them.) A week later, Cameron and a Father Nature crew arrived on schedule and commenced work. After the demolition work was completed, my wife and I realized there was a better option for the area under the tree, and asked Cameron to modify the plan. He did so without complaint. (Turned out much better than our original concept.) Crew foreman Joe and his team worked their tails off, and created a beautiful front yard for us. Our neighbors, who had generally expressed sadness that my wife's signature garden would be no more, were all highly impressed with how our front yard looks now.

Their team came in and got to work taking out the hill side and moving a lot of dirt. The transformation on my hillside into the new driveway with retaining walls was was spectacular. My neighbor commented on what a classy job they did. The look, attention to detail, and the quality was what i was expecting when I hired them. They did not disappoint me. Of course, the 5th wheel made it up and in. I would hire this company again in a heart beat. I worked with Luke. Thanks Luke!!

His suggestions were fine but did not meet my needs.

After much consideration on what projects we could afford and what needed to be done right away I contacted Cameron and said we would like to get the deck refinished with a coating he was suggesting and have the railings put on in place of the benches. He did not respond to my first email when I asked about further information on the type of coating he was going to use (he said he would provide information). I wrote a second time yesterday reiterating what I wanted done. His response came today saying he was sorry for the delay, but they have bigger projects and therefore they were going to pass on my deck and good luck to me. I thoroughly believe that even though he stated I could do any or all of the line items I wanted when he found out the deck is all we could do right now he decided we were not the effort. Not enough money in it. I am sure they will say how busy they are, but I want to restate that I was offered these options and now they are no longer interested. Kind of rude to say we are going to pass on your project. I will not consider using these people in the future.

3/16/15 contacted for estimate 3/17/15 return call for estimate 3/18/15 contacted for estimate. Limited times for me to schedule an estimate M-Thur until 4:00 pm. No Fri Sat or Sun appts. Could not schedule to get an estimate during my available times Tried to get a appt at 5:00 but they close at 4:00. Wanted an estimate but could not get one to fit in my schedule.

So far, it's gone really well. Chris is amazing to work with - super responsive, easy to communicate with, and very detailed oriented. Him and his designer (Amy) have a great eye for detail and ability to put together a design we love. They do, however, have great (and expensive) tastes. Luckily, he's aware of our budget constraints and is working with us to try to find alternate materials and design tweaks to lessen the cost of install (price listed is only for design work, which design included rights to have any contractor bid for installation). He's even gone so far as to recommend work we can do ourselves and put us in touch with those who would have been his subcontractors. Overall, Father Nature Landscapes has been great to work with - we only hope we can afford the final quote. We'd love to keep working with him.

We were very pleased with them. They have great communication; when they said they're going to be there; their always a little bit early. They're very knowledgeable and very professional. They make you feel like you're their only customer.

The service was really good. The workers were nice, professional, friendly, and really easy to get along with. They were prompt. The area looked beautiful when they were finished.

Cameron was very professional and gave great feedback on cost estimates for the scope of the project that we were trying to price out. He was honest about the work and why his estimate would be higher than others and I appreciated it. We ended up DIY-ing the project, but I certainly would use them for smaller projects or maintenance service in the future.

Chris' crew was scheduled to maintain the yard twice a month for the price of $320 per month ($160 per visit), and that would have been okay if they ever finished anything. they would mow the main lawn, which is average size, then they would do part of another job (pruning, mowing a large lot next door that is just dry grass), and they would leave. I contacted Chris SEVERAL times and requested a more complete service, and he would usually respond, but the jobs were never done well. Also, they were to keep the sprinkler system working , which my 79 year old mother cannot figure out or manage. Instead, the sprinklers were not set, the grass they had put in turned brown, and Chris' crew responded by showing up and mowing and ignoring her requests for help completing the jobs. We even paid them a good deal extra to prune and top some trees, and all they did was top about 60% of the trees straight across, which I could have done with my dull hedge trimmer. The initial work was very good, the continuing service was absolutely mediocre, and the yard was never left in great shape again (I may be nuts, but I think $320 a month warrants a decent product). BE CAREFUL if you intend to sign a service contract with them.

We had our yard evaluated to get some ideas. We are needing to dig up our yard to have some home improve done and I needed help on ideas on how to rebuild my yard afterward. They were great and took their time with us.Explained in detail how the process works and also explained that you need to give your plants room and time to develop

In 2013, we had this company do a landscaping plan, and then a bid for the work. They bid things in such a way that we could pick and choose what we wanted done, which was pretty awesome. They also knew that we weren't going to have the work done until the next summer, and were good with that as well. We have a 1/2 acre of property, 1/4 acre of which was originally blackberry bushes. We had a low spot that was a bit boggy, and it was sloped in such a way that wasn't very usable. We wanted a park-like setting with grass and a plantings. This resulted in a plan of 10k sq ft of grass with plantings around the edgings, and a water garden/rock drainage feature for the boggy area. The initial work was done in about a week. Big machines were brought in, as well as several dump trucks worth of top soil and compost, which were all spread to make a cohesive back yard. Then the edging for the grass was put in, and the yard hydroseeded and the rock drainage feature put in. There were a couple of issues, and they sent guys out twice to get them fixed. Really responsive and willing to work to get it done so that we'd be as happy as could be. The owner was really hands on, which was great. Great company to work with and we'd happily use them again.

The landscaping part of our job went well. The crew worked hard and cleaned up after all the plantings. We did notice that some of the plants were not the container size that we had been quoted so we will have to wait for them to grow. Cameron did a good job designing our new pathway and the crew dug the ground and put in the forms. The next day the cement crew arrived, and the path was poured. Then we were forgotten. It took another week and a few phone calls to get the job finished. Not too impressed with the cement crew. And in our opinion there is a lack of follow through, and /or knowledge on behalf of the support team in the office. On the other hand, Cameron and his landscaping crew are hard workers and do their best to do a good job. Yes, we would try them again in a landscaping project.
