Their quote was the best overall. I purchased a coupon from Angie's List to continue to use them for about $300. Chris Shear was the branch manager and he was very professional. He was very conscientious and seemed to know what he was doing. The contract was very thorough and easy to read. The quality was excellent and I will recommend them definitely. Like I said I have a coupon through Angie's List to use them in the future.

I felt like I completed got my money's worth for the amount of work they accomplished in the time allotted. Very impressed with the work ethic and the way this crew worked together. I would not hesistate to have them come back again. My understanding is that they specialize in hardscapes & water features, which I would totally trust them to do. Perhaps in the future I will hire them for that as well. Totally trustworthy.
Description of Work: The three man crew showed up on time, and worked for the exact time I paid for. They were very fast and very thorough. Being a person that can be very OCD about my gardening, I appreciated that they were very maticulous. In the six hours that I paid for, they completed cleaned up my yard's flower beds, cut back overgrown shrubs, and fruit trees, and left the yard completed clean and looking spotless like I wanted it to be.

This was a big deal purchase and after I purchased it, I realized they were located in Tacoma and I in Seattle so I paid an extra $55 for the deal. I was disappointed for several reasons. I very clearly communicated by email that I wanted a garden clean up and mulching. I specifically asked how they would know how much mulch to bring since they didn't know how large my property was. I received an answer that simply said, sure we are planning to mulch. The following day the foreman arrived and told me that they didn't have mulch and if I wanted it they would charge me for the time it takes to locate a vendor and pick it up. He also told me that they would charge me to remove the yard waste that didn't fit in my container. Basically, I felt as if I was being charged for lots of things in order to make up for the deal. I wondered whether they ran an airline as well! I was not interested in cheating anyone but just as I had been told about the travel surcharge I feel very strongly that these extra charges should be disclosed ahead of time especially since I emailed them the day before about my desire to have the yard mulched. They didn't have a lawn mower or trimming tools to tidy up the yard. In my view that is all part of the clean up job and the fact that I had yard work to do after they left defeated the point of this purchase! I found the foreman to be very rude and unpleasant. In fact I had to call the owner after they left because the crew left an enormous pile of yard waste on my back porch. I really felt as though the foreman had purposely done that because we hadn't hit it off. When I spoke to Chris about my very negative experience, he did apologize and wanted to know how he could make it better. I explained that the worst part of the deal was all the extras that they wanted to charge me for. There's nothing that irks customers more than the feeling they are being taken. Disclose your charges. Hopefully, this is an isolated experience but I was not a happy customer.

Hi Member, I woud like to apologize again for the poor experience you had with my company, in fact it embarasses me! As I told you on the phone it is not my intent to nickle-and-dime you, this is the reason I was up front with the fuel surcharge to service your area which was outside the limits of the 'Big Deal' coupon. I take pirde in the work we do and my ability to please clients. I really feel the main problem between us was a failure to communicate effectively on my part. I feel I did not explain the additional charges clearly to you prior to my foreman arriving. For this I am sorry. Please take my apology to heart and if there is anything I can do to rectify the situation I would be happy to do so.

Driving from Tacoma, Carl, Floren and Joel arrived on time, ready to work. In their three hours, they transformed a jungle to a beautifully edged, shapely space. With a little time left, they pruned a camellia, weeded a bed and raked under a large holly. Their clean up included shaping an out-of-control scotch pine, removing a small invasive laurel, a pyracantha, and three other small trees. They probably even performed services I haven't noticed yet. Glancing out from time to time, I saw Carl on his knees pinching small weeds from between some low stones. The place looks manicured. The $52 dump fee wasn't included in the Big Deal, but they left here with a large truckload of debris, well worth the extra price. Nobody could have given us more for our money. We are thrilled.
Description of Work: Chris had posted a "Big Deal" on Angie's list. I didn't notice that he wanted to serve South King County. We live in Northeast. He still agreed to do the work for us. The Deal was for 9 man-hours of work, three hours/three workers. And I mean Workers! I had a wild, difficult area in the front corner of our lot--zero curb appeal. I didn't know what could be done to improve it--shaded by 5 closely planted cedar trees. I asked for a clean up, and recommendations for planting on this dry, shady slope.

Chris gave us a detailed landscaping plan based on an Angies list Great deal. From this initial plan and the responsiveness during that process, we decided to hire them for the big job. They were flexible and quick once started. We had to wait a mnoth for a spot on their busy schedule. Chris was willing to add on and change jobs as needed throughout the project to make it what I wanted. I would hire them again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Chris and crew cleared the beds and overgrown areas of our yard and planted with low maintenance, low water plants per my request. They also transplanted 2 trees. In addition, Chris built a fence, replaced an exisiting deck with a beautiful cedar deck, and added a rock garden with paving stones to decrease maintenance.

The crew from Father Nature showed up just before 8am on the scheduled day. The job took the crew about three hours. They cut the floor boards across the shed about a foot into shed, removed the old 4X4, took out any debris from under the shed, installed a new pressure-treated joist and then a second one as well to nail the new floor boards from where they had been cut to the front of the shed. They removed our paving stone apron where it touched the shed and replaced the stones with 3 inches of a nice grade of crushed rock. Rainwater will now have a lot more space to drain. With the extra floor joist, the floor of the shed is even more sturdy than it was when it was new. The crew cleaned up all the debris from the job and then walked through what they had done with us. They were true professionals.
Description of Work: We have a small, 15 year old wooden garden shed that we both store yard furniture and equipment in and which is part of our backyard landscaping. The 4X4 floor joist in the front of the shed began to noticeably deteriorate a few years ago. Although the joist is pressure treated, this was most likely due to a poor decision on our part to create an apron of paving stones in front of the shed. Rain water had no where to go but into the space between the floor joist and the apron. The deterioration was so bad that most of the floor boards of the shed were no longer connected to this joist. The rest of the floor remains water tight and there is no give at all on any of the other connections between the floor boards and the joists. At a minimum, the front floor joist needed to be replaced, as did many of the floor boards and a new solution for the apron in front of the shed was needed. We contacted several landscaping firms, but were very impressed with Chris from Father Nature. He responded in a timely manner and had a solution for the apron problem right away. This was a relatively small job and it was scheduled several weeks from the date of the bid. This didn't concern me. I just wanted to have the work done before winter. We asked Chris to provide us with two bids: one to fix the immediate problem and one to replace the entire foundation of the shed with concrete. Given that the rest of the flooring in the shed appears in good shape, we opted to simply fix the immediate problem.

Father Nature was wonderful to work with. Chris was extremely friendly and proficient. He was always punctual and completed the work within the projected timeline. They made for a pleasurable experience and would definitely work with them again.
Description of Work: Chris was accommodating to all my requests as well as offered recommendations for anything I did not think of. Even after he was prompt in giving my estimate, he was quick to respond to any questions and additional requests I had. He ensured our irrigation system was operating properly. This included replacing and capping the appropriate heads and installed a wireless rain sensor.

Description of Work: Once I signed up for the $99 Angie's List special, Chris came right out to walk through the yard and get ideas of what I wanted. He took pictures and then passed those pictures along to his designer. It took awhile to get the estimate along with the design plans but that gave me longer to save up for the project so it didn't hurt anything. Once I made the decision to accept the proposal it was only a few weeks before Chris and crew (3 men) were ready to start. They showed up on time every day (3 day project). I was home the whole time so I got to watch what was being done. On the third day I decided to add edging to the project and Chris and crew seemed to take that in stride and stayed late on the last day to finish the extra work. The previous owners had left several pallets, railroad ties and pieces of wood behind the garage and the crew cut everything up and hauled it away which was really nice. Chris walked me though the yard and explained all the new plants and how to care for them. I'm excited to watch them grow and mature and start to fill in. Next year we'll add a few annuals to bring more color to the beds but for now we're very happy with the selection of plants, trees and shrubs that were picked. I would highly recommend this company for anyone with a small or large landscaping project.

The very first day that they worked, we were amazed at how much they were able to get done. After just 6 hours, it looked like a brand new place, tranforming raw land into a usable, beautiful space. There were anywhere from 2 to 4 people working at a time. The job took approximately 2 weeks to complete. If someone said they would arrive at 8 am, they were here exactly on time, or a few minutes early - punctuality is so rare these days and we were very impressed! We added things we wanted done and changed things, and everyone was always very flexible and patient. Chris and Carl oversaw the project and checked in with us on a daily basis, walking the property and explaining what had been done, what was planned for the next day, and always asked for our input on any new ideas we might have. Everyone worked so hard every day! I never saw anyone just hanging out or wasting time - they were always so busy and productive. We had a security system being installed at the same time and those contractors told us they couldn't believe how much better Father Nature made the property look every day. Now our home looks like a finished product inside and out! We highly recommend Father Nature to anyone looking to have quality work done by an honest team of people! When you see my list of everything that they completed, it's hard to believe that they were able to accomplish all of it in just 2 weeks time, but they did.
Description of Work: Father Nature cleared our land of blackberry bushes, dead trees, diseased trees, debris, etc. and installed a sprinkler system, 3 retaining walls, a drainage system, a driveway, a gravel lot and r.v. parking.

We started with an estimate for redoing our front and back yards. We went over some ideas, and asked for a plan and estmate. It was very clear that Chris, our landscaper, had listened to our comments, becaue the plan came back with everything we wanted. We set a date for the work to start, and discussed adding a few items to the bid. The price was very reasonable. They came promptly on the scheduled date, and completed everything on our specified contract within the week. The work was superb.
Description of Work: We had bushes and trees taken out, plants relocated, new plants put in, beds redefined, a fence replaced, and low voltage lighting installed. We had plants planted in the beds, and they were the type of plant we had asked for, varieties that were indigenous to the area or thrived here. In the fall, they will be back to complete the yard. I would definitely hire them again. The experience was great. Do's: Have an idea available to discuss. Have a budget in mind. Ask questions about items on the bid, understand everything about what is being proposed. Don'ts: Look over their shoulders. Wait until the end of the day to discuss any issues.

We found Father Nature on Angie's List and asked them to proved a plan for a low maintenance NW garden in our overgrown backyard. Chris was out in a matter of days to take pictures and discuss what we wanted done. He provided the plan to us within 10 days and answered all our questions promptly. We decided to go forward with part of the plan and he scheduled us for three weeks in the future. He and team showed up on schedule and proceeded to renovate our entire yard in 2 days. The lawn proved to be too damaged to be likely to respond to aerating and fertilizing, so they shuffled the budget a bit, resodded the lawn and still came in within $30 of estimate. The team was efficient and cleaned up everything, even the patio and we love our new yard.
Description of Work: Provided plan for re-claiming our backyard. Removed 5 trees. Removed 3 large bushes. Moved mid-size rhododendron. Levelled yard. Enriched planting beds. Resodded portion of yard. Planted >50 plants. Mulched planting beds.

As you can see from above, it was a great experience. Their services are very much in demand, and worth the wait.
Description of Work: They had already built me a fence and I was happy with their service, so I hired them to landscape my backyard. They did a wonderful job redesigning the layout and planting shrubs and perennials. I had other plantings that needed to be done on my own and they did those also for me. They made sure not to puncture the irrigation system while planting. They built me a lovely trellis for my wisteria tree, better than a magazine! I had ordered a bistro table and chairs and firepit, which they took out of the boxes and put together for me, just to be kind.

The crew arrived on time and set to work quickly. The entire project took 4 guys 2 days to complete. They were very professional. They responded cheerfully to revisions and provided valuable advice on numerous aspects of the design and maintenance of the landscape. Not only did they do a terrific job overall, the final cost was LESS than the estimate. The original estimate was $5600. The actual cost was less than $4000. What a nice surprise! I would definitely hire Father Nature again and I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: They dug out weeds and roots, defined, tilled and amended the planting areas, built a gravel pathway and a dry creek bed from the existing water feature, applied fine bark mulch, and replanted original plants.

We purchased the Big Deal and Chris called me the next day. I wasn't expecting him to call me, as it was put in the deal for us to call them. We set up an appointment and he was right on time. Chris was very helpful, polite, and knowledgeable. We shared ideas and we had a plan with in minutes. He was very receptive to our ideas and gave us ideas that we weren't thinking about. He even gave me several ideas of things that I could do to cut costs, which I did. When we received the estimate and analysis, we decided to cut about half of it out for this year and I had another estimate and an appointment that same day. When the day arrived for the work to be done, Chris was not only here, but he was working! I love that! I can't believe all they did in the day and a half it took them. Father Nature obviously hires people with a very strong work ethic and knowledge of landscaping. I was amazed at the results. They go above and beyond what they say they are going to do. Something as simple as spraying weeds in my parking area below where they were landscaping and in my driveway. They had to of planted over 50 plants, trees and shrubs not including transplanting 4 large barberrys and 4 rhodies. Incredible. I just don't think the pictures give it justice. Thank you Chris and crew!
Description of Work: Replaced trees, Put in Dry creek bed to front, transplanted several Rhodies and Barberrys to compliment new rock feature. Cleaned up existing beds and added several new plants and shrubs. Mulched all beds after plants were transplanted and new plants and rock feature was complete.

They were very good, did an excellent job with good preparation and had excellent communication. They had a couple of things like pre-meetings and signing up the contracts; they were very professional about that. They kept in communication at times when there were some weather conditions so we had to work around it which I felt they were good about working on that. I knew that this work was done by the sub-contractors who work with them and not them. The people who came to do the job were excellent; they knew what they were doing. They were friendly, did a great job and worked well.

The only things I can add to the above is that Chris arrived on time to discuss the plan and estimate and sent me a drawing, plant names and the estimate in a timely manner. He arrived on the dot for the plantings, followed by his men a few minutes later. They all worked very hard all day and finished in the mid-afternoon. I thought it would take a couple of days. Chris and his crew were professional and polite. Chris also treated his crew with courtesy. Overall it was an excellent experience, I can't thing of even one little wrong thing. I would gladly use them again and highly reccommend them.
Description of Work: They removed five 40' Thuga trees which had grown too large for the area and replaced them with more appropriate cypress.. They enlarged and planted two beds by other trees, and planted several other areas with a mix of shrubs. They removed and replaced a sad plum tree with a red bark maple. They composted all planted beds and mulched all of it. They planted two areas that weren't included in the estimate and didn't charge extra for them. they cleaned up before they left and everything was picture perfect.

Description of Work: My yard was such a mess after a hard winter and my declining ability to do any maintenance. When I received Angie's offer for a landscaping estimate, I responded immediately. Chris Scheer called/emailed me promptly and came out to do a plan and give me an estimate. He worked with me to make the design fit into my budget and keep my yard attractive and low maintenance. On the appointed day the crew appeared on time and really hustled to complete the project. They cleaned up after themselves and left at the end of the day. I keep walking around my yard to admire it. It is so pretty that 3 little neighbor girls stopped to tell me how much they liked it. Father Nature has made me so-o-o proud of my yard.

He would not let me pay the balance of my bill until the job was completed to my satisfaction. I have the most beautiful front lawn in my neighborhood.

Do be sure you specify details if they are important to you (like whether you want the fence to step up or slope up - there were two artists working two slightly different ways - but it's a minor difference from one side of the yard to the other & we think it's charming.) We decided the gates should swing in instead of out and they came right back to fix it. Everything was clean and nice at the end of both projects, but tiny details might be overlooked (like redrilling the holes in the concrete when they changed the gate swing on the first job - they fixed it during the second, and a bit of brush was left on the second job - but the carport was supertidy with all the stuff put back) No nails, sawdust, or trash. We plan to have Father Nature back next year to build us a deck and a front stoop and to install plants. For now we are enjoying our nice, tidy, fenced yard
Description of Work: Chris and his crew have done two jobs for us. First job was a big one as we have a lot and a half - removed several large shrubs and their root balls, removed two blackberry thickets (which show no current signs of growing back), removed escaped raspberries and overgrown roses; removed the old chain link fence; installed a 6 foot cedar fence and 3 gates; put in two sections of specially designed fence; pruned up existing trees. They did this first job in a week - on time and on budget using quality materials, so we had them back to build a HUGE carport. The second job was again, on time, on budget, and better than code.
