Father Nature Landscapes is a design, construction & maintenance company based in Pierce County and we have been in business since 2006. Our process begins with a visit to your property where we discuss what works, what doesn't and how you would like to use your land. We'll discuss the possibility of a design, quote a price on site making sure your goals are met and follow-up with a landscape design! During the design, we will create the yard of your dreams; then in the construction phase seek to provide amazing service, proactive project management and clear communication. Once the project is complete, we complete a final walk-through with you and will correct anything that doesn't meet agreed upon expectations. We're looking forward to creating the perfect outdoor living for you!

The experience was fine. They did a good job but you really quick about the communication, there seemed to be some gaps between the team leader and team members.
Description of Work: Father Nature Landscapes did the columns for our gate and the retaining wall in our garden.
I couldn't be happier with Chris and company at Father Nature. He arrived for the original consultation promptly and seemed genuinely excited about transforming my yard. I got a couple of consultations but chose Chris because of his enthusiasm. He had a landscape design professionally done and walked me through it. He presented his proposal very professionally, and included references, a clear explanation of costs, warranties, and his insurance info without my having to ask him. His references were all thrilled with him, so I chose him to do the work without getting another bid. He and his crew showed up promptly the first day and completed the work on schedule. They were courteous and pleasant. With the exception of a bit of trampled grass in front, which he will fix, they left no mess or damage whatsoever. Most importantly, they did a phenomenal job on my yard! It looks better than I ever imagined it could look! He met with me this morning to walk me through everything, and took plenty of time explaining everything. He encouraged me to call or email with any questions. (His references all said he's great on follow-up). Overall, this was a great experience for me and I am thrilled. I can't wait to use my new, beautiful, yard!
Description of Work: complete backyard renovation, with landscape design, gravel patio, fire pit, seating wall, hot tub pad, plantings, construction of a woodland path, sod, raised beds, trellis, irrigation, lighting.

They did an excellent job of communicating with me while they checked plant availability. They were able to do the work sooner than we anticipated and it looks great !!! Would recommend !
Description of Work: Chris came out to give me a bid on some new landscaping for our home. He listened to what I wanted and made some suggestions. A couple of days later Cameron came over with a complete bid including pictures. They took a simple want of mine and built it into something better (this was not a bad thing). Cameron got me to think outside of the box and presented a GREAT outline for the yard. They met all of my needs and then some. I am so happy that I didn't insist on sticking to what I originally wanted. The yard looks spectacular!!

I had been looking forward to doing this work for a long time. I wanted the result to be top-quality, of course, but I wanted the process to be fun, too. And it was. Without a doubt. Every day I could see my vision taking shape. The result is all that I hoped it would be, but so much better because of Father Nature. Cameron and company (the very wonderful Fernando, Joel and Dana) brought thought, creativity and a remarkable amount of muscle to the task. I have nothing but praise and admiration for their work and their professionalism throughout. There is an added peacefulness to the new woodland (that will soon look as if it has been there forever) because the experience of creating it has been so pleasant.
Description of Work: We had a 25-year untamed, shy quarter-acre (on a hillside, behind a rock wall) in our backyard that was buried in ivy, bramble bushes, and countless old tree stumps. My vision for this area has been taking shape for many years. I interviewed a half-dozen landscapers before deciding to go with Father Nature. I may have envisioned the end product but they are the ones who made it happen. We consulted with Sue Goetz, a talented local landscape designer, to select and place about 2 dozen new trees (each 8-10 feet tall) as well as a multitude of smaller plantings, and to site footpaths and meadows throughout as if they had always been there, winding in and around the existing tree stumps. Off to one side of the hill Cameron and company added short rock walls to support two terraces, upon which they built raised beds for my vegetable garden. They edited the original rock wall to create a ramp up to the raised beds, and brought in gorgeous stone steps for the woodland entrance on the other side. They ran water up to the hillside and created a flower bed that ties the woodland in with the more traditionally appointed (deck, lawn, shed) area of the yard. As part of the same job, Cameron and his crew also cleared away ivy and scrub trees from a long section beside our front driveway and replaced it with thoughtful, beautiful, low-maintenance shrubs and large rocks.

Hello, As excited as you were to work with us on this project we were equally with you! This project was refreshing and different from what we are normally asked to do. You allowed us to use our professional experience and judgement, were open to our ideas and I believe the end result to your landscape is astounding. You asked for fun elements to be incorporated and really wanted a natural feel to be developed in the space, as if this landscape was something you could encounter while hiking a trail on Mt. Rainier. Thank you again and we look forward to the continued working relationship moving forward. Sincerely, The Father Nature Team

They were prompt and courteous. The original deal was for the landscape design for $99 and they did a good basic job. They also did a good job on the french drain although I don't think he really understood what I wanted until the crew arrived. and I walked it out with him. I don't think he was listening very well when we discussed it over the phone and on the internet. The main reason that I gave them a B instead of an A was the pruning job they did on my pear tree. The tree is 40-50 feet tall and badly needed to be topped and thinned out which was the main purpose for having a company come in to do it. They didn't explain until they got there that they only had the ability to prune up to 25 feet. The pruning job that they did do really was not very well done and didn't trim off the vertical non-fruit bearing spurs. Bottom line is they were good about the landscape plan and the drain. Don't expect them to know much about pruning.
Description of Work: Father Nature did a landscape design, installed a french drain along a hill side on our property and pruned a tree.

They showed up on time and my wife wrote a list of everything she wanted completed which they appreciated. The team went right to work and completed everything on the list and in the allotted time. They also made sure everthing was picked up and cleaned before they left. They did a great job and we would use their services again.

Overall an excellent experience. Cameron worked with me first to come up with an attractive design, then worked with me to understand the plants that would be used and I was able to change several of them. Cameron was great to work with as he always was very receptive and helpful. The work was completed as specified and on time and the results were absolutely fantastic. I would say the results were even better than I had imagined.

Lasting impression was that the final product was good. I have a plan that is interesting and doable.
Description of Work: Purchased a special off of Angie's List. I did not call before the expiration date, but called afterwards. They honored my special. They came out right away to do the assessment. The plan took much longer to receive than I was told. The plan was very good and gave me a few things to think about. I almost called to arrange part of the work, but my deck project took longer than expected and it delayed this project. I was also a bit concerned about timeliness, but if I were paying for a complete job, I would work in timelines and/or penalties to avoid this issue.

The company came out, did a design, and sent it to us. It didn't fit what we were hoping for.
Description of Work: Bought the Anglieslist "deal". It was supposed to be for a landscape design. We didn't feel we received much for the money. They came out and walked the property with us. We were hoping for some unique ideas, but didn't feel the landscape design was much more than what we had already thought of. Took a while for them to get back to us, as they were very busy at the time. We didn't hire them to perform the landscaping work.
This is my third time using Father Nature for my landscaping needs. I did choose to use a landscape designer they don't normally work with, but Chris was willing to help me execute the designer's plan for our new home. He was also flexible with her hand selecting and purchasing the plants used for the project. The crew is very professional and left the work site clean each day. Chris was also very responsive to any issues that came up or items that needed addressed. The end result is a really impressive looking landscape. Part of the project was put on hold for spring, but they will be back to install some lighting and finish landscaping a hill in the spring, when the rain slows down. I obviously would recomend them to any one as this is the third time I have used their services.
Description of Work: Father Nature installed new landscape, irrigation, drain pipe, fencing, trelllis, regraded the back yard, and installed a retaining wall.
I did not know what to expect when hiring a landscaper, and I was lucky that Cameron was pleasant to work with. I was impressed with the care he put into each step in the process. He came prepared with camera and measuring tools and sent a bid within a few days. The bid was detailed, which I very much appreciated. (The previous business I contacted through Angie's List sent me a bid which only stated "topsoil and mulch, $9,600". The original bid from Father Nature's included the above list with separate prices and a total of $4,300.) There was a wait of 1-2 months to get the work done, since they were booked up. I am very happy with the end results, with a few misgivings. Cameron solved several "eye sore" spots in our yard. The patios are lovely and the fence is sturdy and looks nice. There was some problem with the gate and the price was an unexpected several hundred dollars more. On the positive side, they provided (for free) a beautiful tall grass to separate the entryway from the fence, which had developed into a problem area by adding the fence. The area wasn't the easiest to work with because we wanted to keep an old carport there also. They worked around this "glitch" expertly. I like Cameron's ability to create a pleasant space through his design ideas. The other issue was around the amount of bark they delivered and installed. We had talked at length about my need to simplify the yard and the problem of herbicide-free weed control. We decided on using the bark as a barrier since it worked in our front yard. I assumed they would apply it thick, like I did in the front. I was disappointed to see that in some places the bark was only an inch thick or less. I was expecting around three inches, to help keep the weeds at bay. I ended up trying to pull the grasses growing in the garden in November, giving up and buying more landscaped fabric and installing it myself in the rain. The only other issue we encountered was to come home after they were finished to find old fence poles left laying in the yard. They were too long to store and too heavy to haul away. I realize they would have to charge extra hauling fees for this unexpected pile and I was already over budget, so I didn't mention it. There was a very minor issue where the crew entirely missed an area to be barked. When I called to point it out, they rectified it immediately, with apologies.
Description of Work: Trim trees along road, remove weed overgrowth by hand, remove a wood "patio" and haul away, add topsoil and mulch, place large rocks by road (for a barrier), install edging and gravel for two patios. Redefine gravel driveway and regravel. Design and install a 6 foot cedar fence with gate. Design a side garden with a mix of native plantings and a tall grass backdrop for the gravel patio.

do call the company to see if you are in their service area before purchasing coupons.
Description of Work: i had entered my address on Angie's list and looked up landscaping design service close to it. This vendor had a coupon so I bought it. WHen I called for appointment, I was told they are located about 45 minutes from my address and there would be extra travel charges. So I decided to return the coupon. Angie's list did promptly process the return. THe person I spoke with was very professional, but I did not get to use their services.

It went very well. Chris came from Tacoma to meet at our house in Burien at 7:30 a.m. so I wouldn't miss too much work. It was a full dialogue where we described a few general ideas we had, and they returned with a complete design with many suggestions we'd never considered. What we appreciated most especially was that we told him we didn't have the budget to do anything now, and we were interested in a design that would be easily partitioned into individual projects that could be done over time, many of which we'd want to do ourselves. It didn't compromise the thoroughness of their design or thoughtfulness with which they approached the project. While we haven't yet contracted any landscaping, we did share the deign and quotes with some friends experienced in hiring contractors, and they were stunned at how reasonable the pricing was to the extent of the work proposed. We encountered nothing in the experience that would cause us to look elsewhere, and every reason to pursue work with the company when we're ready to commit.
Description of Work: We purchased the $99 special from Angie's list for a landscape design. Chris came out to the house, we had a conversation about our priorities, and he came back a couple of weeks later after conferring with his business partner with a set of plans to review. It included drawings and photos, a quote broken out by the various elements of the design, references for the company and website information where we could learn more about the materials they were proposing.

The estimator was prompt and thorough. He asked appropriate questions and provided an itemized estimate of all the services we discussed. No complaints from me about the estimate (except that I couldn't afford to have the work done).
Description of Work: I asked for an estimate for several services around our house. The total cost was about $5,000, which I didn't have at the time. I had to say "no, thanks" to the work because I couldn't afford it. When I can afford it, I expect to hire the company to do the work.

Cameron came out and walked through my property with me, asking questions about my ideas and preferences. About 3 weeks later, I received a report that included design and plant suggestions. Next, I asked for an estimate to do 1 part of the work. I received that within a week or so. Cameron was very knowledgable and pleasant. The design was lovely and the plant suggestions were very helpful.

We met with the owner prior to setting a day for the service and reviewed the full yard and landscaping. We then gave verbal priorities as to what we wanted to be accomplished and in what order. We did not know how much we could have expected to be done in the alotted time which as I remember was six man hour or 2 men for three man hours each. When the men arrived to do the work. again I belive it was with the owner, we again walked the area and reviewed the work and priorities. We let the men work withouit our continoius wattching, as we do wirth other contractors. They completed the three hours and left, without checking out with us. Later my wife saw taht a small valuable tree tahat was in one of the work areas was gone. She claims that she told them about the tree and to be aware of it. If they had expected knowledge of shrubs and landsacping they would have known about the and if they had been trained and experienced they would not have appraoched the job as they did.
Description of Work: We were looking for a reliable firm for extensive yard service. They worked mainly with a chain saw and cut down a valuable tree without telling us about it. They did not accomplish as much work as we expected in the alotted time. Their quality of prunning and knowledge prunning was poor. The work expected was clearing and thinning or overgrown ground cover and prunning of shrubs and smaller trees as needed.

Member, I would like to start by apologizing to you and your wife. I remember meeting with her, walking the large property and forming a game plan. You both were wonderful and have a great home. I am very sorry we did not take care of your landscape as you had imagined we would. I would also like to replace the tree we inadvertently removed. Do you know what it was and its approximate size? We aim to exceed client expectations and I again apologize for not accomplishing this at your home. We wish you the best and thank you for honest review. Very positive. I would hire them again in a minute!
Description of Work: I hired them to help me with yard clean-up at my second home that had been neglected for months. They sent out three guys who worked so hard with me.... and they made a huge yard clean-up seem like it was easy. They spent three hours and I was completely happy with the cleanliness and attention to detail that I would've done if I had done it all myself. Very polite and professional workers as well. Very positive experience and I felt I got every penny's worth.

I purchased a deal for a landscape plan in Nov 2012, and I received a detailed drawing and itemized pricing proposal. I requested several changes and "what if" scenarios, and finally settled on something that fit my budget and longer term plans. The work was done in March (my request) and I am very happy with the results. They removed some bushes and a hedge that had grown too big for the space, replaced a kids play area with sod, landscaped most of the yard with low maintenance plants & tress, mulch, landscape borders, removed a large cement raised flower bed, and installed a gravel patio to be used for our fire pit. I'm very happy with the results - thanks Cameron!

They did it all just as estimated and promptly. Easy to work with, flexible and professional.
Description of Work: This is the third time that I have used Father Nature...and I will use them again. After they replaced my front lawn with wonderful, low growing perennials last year in the spring, I took advantage of the Big Deal and had them weed and clean up my back yard, gardens and steep hil last fall. They were fabulous and in just 3 hours the 3 young men did it all. I used them again this fall, 2012, in October to remove the grass from my small backyard and plant ground covers as well as removing dead plants from my hill and replacing them with lavenders and euonymous. As usual, they did exactly what they said they would, on the day planned and the back yard looks fabulous. I wil use them as long as they are in business!

In my eyes, Chris Scheer is simply the best!!!!! He is very responsive and professional. He has the patience of Job, answering every question and concern that I had, and believe me there were many. This is actually the third job Father Nature has done for me. Previously they rebuilt a rock wall and planted a garden area. They also relaid a patio area. Soon I will be calling Chris to put a few finishing touches on my backyard. Definitely give Chris a call! He is awesome!
Description of Work: Father Nature Landscapes transformed my front yard. They removed a large part of the existing lawn, replacing it with a small patio, several garden areas, and some rockery. They planted both shrubs and trees. The change in my property is truly amazing! I look forward to coming home every day, so I can be uplifted by the miracle they have worked.
