Description of Work: When we contacted the company, the salesperson was very friendly and helpful, and even let us borrow a piece of the vinyl fence he was showing off so we could discuss getting a joint fence fix with the neighbors. When it came time to do the actual work, however, it broke down. | |They were one of the few companies in the area that did vinyl fencing in things besides just flat white, and we got a nice textured one in a wood color. I will say I have no fault with the color, or the materials, and the work done on the fence itself is fine. | |It took nearly a month for them to actually come out and start (we were not told it was going to take that long, and had to call them 3 weeks in to see if they were even still going to DO the work). | |The work was done quickly, but large issues came up with communication. We had two fences previously, and told them that there was possibly old concrete to deal with (our previous wood fence rotted so fast we weren't 100% sure if they had actually USED any), and the 'disposal of the fence' was under contract to be under the part we paid for. We did mention they should not dig it up unless they had to. | |When they dug up the old concrete, they told us they would have to charge extra to haul it away. We immediately called the company up, and were told "They weren't supposed to do that." However, even though they JUST admitted they weren't supposed to, and it was a breakdown in communication on THEIR part, they tried to talk us into paying for it! | |They said it would drive their costs us, which, if it was true, they should have hammered that further into their employees. But it was still covered under our contract.... Which they then had the nerve to ARGUE with us over it, until they finally decided to drop it. So, even if they were being legitimate, to us, it felt like they were either incompetent, or trying to scam us; and either way, very rude about it. | |They also did not tell us that the gate part of our fence was done by a third party... and they needed to have been told how to set up the gate in advance... We figured they knew what they were doing, and were also getting kind of tired of having to check to make sure they weren't trampling things in the backyard (They told us we needed to weed before they got there, which was fine... except they gave us a day's warning, and so we had so stay up till 10PM the previous night weeding, and they still complained about the grass...) or blowing out fuses in our house {they used power tools and also didn't clear them with us. We didn't know until they shut off our downstairs power, which we didn't notice until the next morning and had to cycle the GFCI (The only thing I've heard of in relation to the GFCI is that it is made so you can't electrocute yourself in the tub)}. | |Back to the gate. So yes, we assumed putting in a gate would not be that difficult, and we wouldn't need to check on what they were doing. It turns out that the person that installed the gate decided that it, and the accompanying pieces needed to be about a foot and a half off of the ground (it's fairly level there, with no steps). This does not slow down our small dog, and even if we had a medium sized one, it would probably only make it pause. The lock on the gate is also low quality. It works, but to have the lever on the inside of the gate go down to fully close it, you have to PULL the button back out, and even then, you often need to wobble the gate to get it to fall. It may just need oil, but the pulling on the button is somewhat frustrating. | |All in all, the work on the fence itself was fast, and looks very sturdy. The major issue is communication, and the bottom line is I would NEVER recommend a company that tries to go back on an agreement, and then argues with it's customers after it admits it was wrong.
