Arrived right on time, looked and dressed professionally. Only thing that was a little bit weird was that there was no van or truck - vehicle was an unmarked sedan and appeared to be the technician's personal vehicle. I figured that is more fuel efficient, and why drive a large vehicle if not required? So, we got started and I explained the home is 110 years old and I expected bad report card. Confirmed that I would get some images from the infra-red camera used and a written report. Technician took his time, I never felt rushed, and I got plenty of opportunity to discuss my concerns about insulation and ask questions about how to do particular kinds of insulation work myself. I never felt pressured to buy the labor from ecoInsulate, though he made it clear that was an option and he would provide a quote. He seemed to understand that I am pretty capable and he offered helpful suggestions about what I could do that would be most effective. I would have liked a more detailed report with a full video or at least more extensive images from the infrared scanning, but was reasonably satisfied that he provided me with images of the most important areas of concern.
Description of Work: Had whole home energy audit (their term) where equipment was used to measure the leakage of our house - air coming in or going out in undesirable ways such as exterior wall outlets, gaps around window trim and floorboards, etc. Used high power fan in front door to create negative pressure in house, then infra-red sensor/camera to look at house. Also provided insight following assessment of insulation in attic and discussed ducting and weather-stripping ideas.

I purchased the "Big Deal" energy audit in September, 2012. I left 2 voice messages with no return contact. I finally connected with the company and the person whom answered the phone said he would tell the person who conducts the audits to call me. I was never called. I started emailing the company. The owner did answer one email. I repled to his email with a couple of dates I would like the service. I heard nothing and send an additional 2 emails. I finally received a reply and set up a date to have the service. I took a day off work for the appointment only to be notified 30 minutes prior to the appointment they were not coming as the owner was going to another job. I was very unhappy and contacted ecoInsolute to refund my prepaid service. I was told to contact Angie's list for the refund. This is the lowest level of customer service I have ever received.
Description of Work: I ordered the Angie's list "Big Deal" of an energy audit 09/25/2012. The services have not been provided after multiple contacts with the vendor.

Did not use this company. Too highly priced, even with the $99.00 discounted from the "estimate", as well as the Angie's list discount AND the PSE rebates applied... this company was still $1400.00 over the price I paid, and the company I went with did so much more for much less money.
Description of Work: I had this company come out expecting some high tech tool telling me how horrible my home is insulated (which I already knew) and it ended up just being that I paid $99.00 for the guy to give me an estimate for the cost to insulate the house. I didn't go with this company. They should tell you up front in the Angie's List Big Deal that your really just having to pay $99.00 for an estimate that should've been free.

We got this big deal because we were planning on putting in an attic fan ourselves, and the price for the big deal would have been the cost of just the fan. It also included an energy audit. The installation of the fan was what is getting them A's across the board. They were punctual and quick and the fan looks great. I was less impressed with the audit. It was essentially a quote for what we needed to have done to insulate the attic. The estimator simply stuff his head into the attic, and got down in the opening of the crawl space. Not very thorough.

From Richard's estimate forward, Ecoinsulate Northwest did a superb job for us. Since there was a lot to do, and I knew that it would cost quite a bit of money, I got three estimates before making a decision to go with Ecoinsulate. All the estimates showed the same work being required. Ecoinsulate's was about the same price as a second one (the third, Home Depot's, was much more expensive and the representative was not as thorough nor as well-informed). However, Ecoinsulte was willing to move a few items out of the attic for a small fee, and was more accommodating about sealing our older can lights, too. I'm delighted that I chose this company. The four workmen, Eric, Scott, Justin, and Pete, showed up right on time before 9am--they worked really hard all day long--and finished the job around 5:15pm. They were careful, tidy (and this was a messy sort of job!), nice guys to have around. And wow, can I already see the difference in the way that our house feels. I'm sure that our heating bills will reflect the changes, too. The company handled all the rebates from PSE, and they accept credit card payment, which worked well for us this time. Thanks to all!
Description of Work: Removed a few items from our attic. Blown-in Jetstream/Ecofil attic insulation to R-49. Installed baffles at sides to ensure ventilation. Air-sealed can lights in attic. Sealed heating ducts and then wrapped them in insulation in the crawl space.

They were easy to work with and were quick to schedule. They arrived on time and were courteous. There was one mix-up where they had not insulated to the depth specified in the quote and this was only discovered after they were done cleaning up and we were doing the final paperwork. This could have been a big problem, but they went back to work and completed the job to spec. One of the guys was clearly not happy about it, but the other was very friendly and courteous and understood us wanting the R-value specified on the quote we received. Overall, I would recommend them to anyone looking for blow-in insulation, just make sure you review the estimate with the crew doing the work first, as they were not the same people.

Two Parts: 1) The energy audit took approximately one hour and I only received a partial verbal report of deficiencies and recommended fixes. I thought I would receive a written report with the whole house expected information, but after four weeks I have not received any additional information other than the original verbal input. 2) The recommended attic insulation and can light work was very professional and was accomplished in a five hour period. The schedule for this work was not completely coordinated as to date and time. The work crew showed up on the date setup as part of the authorization to proceed, but I was expecting a confirmation call prior to starting the work - this did not happen. I had no good comparison on the estimated cost, but I thought the price to seal the light cans to be excessive. the company representative stated that it took an average of 25 minutes to seal each light or approximately 13.5 man hours for all of my lights, which seemed reasonable. Actual time to seal all lights took 6 man hours, and the company would not consider any rebate.
Description of Work: Two Parts: 1) Angie's List Big Deal for a whole home energy audit plus an attic insulation inspection ($99.00). 2) Ceiling can light foam seal and additional blow-in attic insulation ($2000.00).

He showed up, looked the house over, hooked up his equipment, did an excellent job of showing just where the air leaks were and where we needed to work on insulation. Definitely enlightened us on where we were losing heat and efficiency.
Description of Work: They called at the last minute to tell me that they were on a job that ran over and they would have to reschedule. But because of our schedule (we are truck drivers and are rarely home), I'm not sure WHEN we will be rescheduling. So at this moment, we have paid for our service but am not sure when we will receive it. Got a hold of the company and got the service rescheduled.

The estimate went smoothly and was returned quickly so that a start date could be held. Eric, Curtis and the crew meshed the first floor and began the second on the first day. Insulation began to flow on the second day as the rest of the mesh was finished upstairs. The job was completed early on day three. Eric made the required test plugs to verify insulation was not too heavy or too light. They worked quickly and left a clean space when they were done. Thanks guys.

As above. We were sufficiently impressed that we contracted with Ecoinsulate to add insulation to house, and seal leaks. They are in the middle of that process now (2 days work so far; 1 more day to finish). Not finished yet, but they seem to be doing a good job so far. They are continually communicating with us as the work proceeds, so we expect to be pleased when the work is finished.
Description of Work: Inspected house for insulation and energy efficiency. Performed whole-house air pressure test to quantify tightness (it wasn't). Crawled into attic (awkward) to check roof insulation (not much). Removed test siding to exam wall insulation. Spent more than 2 hours in inspection; explained results clearly. Answered our detailed questions accurately. We considered it $100 well-spent.

We purchased a Big Deal coupon for prepaid services. I tried scheduling the service but they either kept putting me off or failed to return my phone calls. It took almost 2 months to get on their schedule. On the day they were scheduled to be here they didnt show up or even call. I had to call them to find out what was going on. Then they told me they couldnt do that type of service anymore because of a change in state regulations. They said they would check into getting a refund for us but that hasnt happened as of yet. I would not recommend working with company at all.

I have spoken with several employees at ecoInsulate in attempts to get some information about this installation and it has become apparent to me that the work will not be able to be done on my current roof. It appears that I would need to have my roof relaid in order to have the solar powered attic fan installed. I wish they had just told me up front instead of getting the run around in the process. No one has been able to give me very much information as to the supplier of the attic fan or what it takes to put it in. I had to do my own research to determine that it would not work and that was frustrating. The only person to call back and apologise was the one who also neglectied to tell the installer what kind of roof I had.

I had them perform a home energy audit using a $99 deal through angieslist. I just bought my home and wanted to see area that I could improve energy efficiency. My home was built in 1976 and I was expecting there to be a lot of areas that would need attention, but my home was much better than I anticipated. They used a thermal scanner to scan my home, allowing me to walk with them through the home so that I could see with my own eyes that problem areas. They were very knowledgeable and offered solutions to address the issues. They have not yet provided me a cost to those solutions (as they just performed the audit yesterday), but stated within a few days I would have my written report as well as estimate to fix the problem areas. Overall I am very pleased and am happy that I now know where to best spend my money to improve on energy efficiency.

The installer arrived on schedule. While there is usually no need to enter the house to install the fan, the installer's ladder was not long enough to reach beyond my 3 story home. He therefore, cleverly, found a way to go through the window on the second floor and work from there to get to the roof. He worked with care so as not to damage anything with his equipment. He worked quickly and left without a trace.

The original date was scheduled for 7-18-12 but I received an email the morning of the 18th saying their pressure washer was not able to make it in. We rescheduled for 7-25-12 for the same time, 12:00 noon. Since I was at work, I asked my daughter to be at the house by 11:30, in case they showed up a little early. My daughter arrived at the house at 11:30 am and the guys were already finishing up. I asked to speak to one of the workers and he said he was supposed to be there at 11:00 am, but I double checked my email confirmation from Lindsay and it was for 12:00. They had not done my wood steps which were dangerous and slippery and I told them that was important. He went ahead and did the 2 steps but to complete the small deck would charge me .20 per sq ft. I declined. I asked him if he used the moss killer since that was the main reason for needing pressure washing, and he said no just plain water because he used a stronger pressure washer and moss killer wasn't needed. When I got home and since that time I've noticed little patches of moss. It wasn't removed in the initial cleaning and didn't die since moss killer wasn't used like the deal stated. There was also residue left behind on my back french doors, which should have been cleaned up after they were done. I contacted Lindsay about the fact moss killer wasn't used and she said "we use an anti-fungal prohibitor", but that contradicts what the actual worker said. I feel, for the small area they covered, they should at least do it thorough job, on-time, and as stated in the ad with the treatment product. The Angie's List deal was "Up to 1,000 sq. ft. of concrete driveway, sidewalk or porch pressure cleaning which includes treating any mildew areas with a mildew killing treatment product and removing tough dirty areas."

I ourchased an Angie's List coupon for insulation and contacted the provider, EcoInsulate NW. The actual installion of the insulation went flawlessly, however, I thought I wasn't ever going to get the job started as I could not reach them. We played phone tag for almost a month before I was able to make contact and got on their schedule. Once that happened, it was just a 2-day process; one to meet with the estimators and one to get the insulation blown in. The actual installion was extremely professional; once on scene, they got right to work, completed quickly and left no mess behind. Payment was also quick and easy.Except for the phone tag, the experience was great - and I'm already feeling the difference in my home. With our unseasonably cool weather this spring, I've been running my heating much less than I expected!I'd recommend these folks to anyone considering improving their home's thermal efficiency, it was quick, relatively painless on the wallet, and very profeesionally done.
