We were very happy with our decision to hire Douglas to design a basement addition and kitchen remodel. We interviewed several architects and designers before hiring Douglas. Douglas had the lowest bid by far but his bid included support from design all the way through permitting. Douglas patiently worked through several iterations of the design with us until we had a design we could take to contractors for bidding. Douglas made several major revisions during the project based on feedback from the city permitting office, contractor, and structural engineer. Overall it was a great experience and far more affordable than the architects. I have a feeling the architects would have charged us for every revision but Douglas was true to his word that his original fee covered us all the way through the process!

Doug gave us a complete drawing of our project, was patient with our little changes and even helped me answer questions the city had about the project. He was great. Definitely recommend him.

Doug was great to work with. He had to do the job twice due to our time delay and changes. He did a great job. There were no questions from the city and we received our permit in two weeks. He was very professional.

He was punctual, responsive and professional. We had a couple iterations on changes I wanted to make, and he was still responsive when we unexpectedly had to put the project on hold for a few month. He is knowledgeable on what is required for permitting purposes and included any changes resulting from that process into his price. He offered contacts for the structural engineering and general contractors for the work. He was great to work with and I highly recommend him.

We hired Douglas to design our basement remodel. He is avery warm and friendly person, and we felt very comfortable having him in our house. He understood what we wanted and got excited talking to his about our project, which was cool. After visiting our house, taking measurements, and talking with us about the designs, he quickly went to work with completing the drawings at his office. I believe they were done in a week. He was also very quick to make changes. I would definitely hire Douglas again and would recommend him to anyone. It couldn't have gone better!

I first contacted Doug by phone and set up a date to meet at my place by email. Doug was very responsive to all of my email requests. He set up an appointment within a week of contact and promptly showed up at my place to take a look at my idea and assess the situation. He spent over an hour out in the rain taking careful measurements. He was wonderfully polite and professional and caught on to my ideas quickly. His wife and kids came to pick him up at the end of this appointment and we had a delightful time talking! Doug then got down to work on my drawings and sent me the first round within a week. I had several suggested changes so I sent these ideas back to him. This time he had the changes incorporated within just a couple of days. He gave me a projected date of about 3 weeks by which time he would send me a CD of the official drawings. He met with me a few days before the projected date and brought me the CD. He then began contacting General Contractors for me to come and bid the project. It is about a month later now and I have received quotes from 3 contractors. I will be sending Doug a request for a couple of changes to the drawings which I am sure he will accomplish in not time based on his previous track record. Overall, Doug was fun and wonderful to work with and I would highly recommend his services to friends and family!

WOW - if you want to work with someone who is punctual, professional, will do the work quickly and not drag their feet - Doug/DC-Designs is the person. From the first contact Doug was clear about the price and procedure. Never canceled an appointment which is a blessing and communicated with me the timeline and status throughout the process. He completed the drawings and was willing to meet me at a location convenient for me instead of what was convenient for him. Shows his character he is thoughtful of his clients. The CAD drawings were perfect and it's nice knowing if the City calls for revisions Doug will be there to make the changes. I will defiantly use him again, Thank you Doug!

Doug was very thorough, responsive, and professional. He provided everything he said he would and at the price quoted. We did not need a complete set of plans drawn from the ground up as we already had plans in place - they were just 20 years old. Doug updated the plans to current standards without having to completely rework everything saving much time and money. We were very pleased with the work. Douglas is one of the most professional and dependable people in the industry. We were very impressed with his attention to detail, high level of service, and expertise. Punctuality: Doug met me at the site location on time (I was a few minutes late getting copies done at Kinko's) and he was ready to work. Quick: His turnaround time is fast, faster than what other designers can promise and/or deliver. After the site visit, he followed up with a few questions to confirm a few details by phone. He works tirelessly and was able to get me a first draft within 2 days, instead of the originally guaranteed 3. I had the set in PDF format, ready to print, sent via email by the end of the 3rd day. Expertise: Not only is he an expert on CAD, but his experience with knowing what plan reviewers require and expect, is phenomenal. It speaks volumes to have plans approved with little to no request for clarification or revision. He is able to offer suggestions, alternate ideas, easy solutions rather than complicated fixes, and also explanations on why something will work better. He caught a few details that I did not take into consideration (plumbing locations and space planning) that made the end result better. Service: Douglas doesn't just deliver a set of plans. I met with Doug at the site, he arrived on time and ready to go to work. He took notes and measured the house. In a few days he had initial set of drawings for me to review. I made some slight changes and he produced a final set in a few days. I applied for the permit in the city of Seattle and got my permit with no questions. He was professional in his appearance, punctual and professional. I will use him again. He is a very pleasant person and look forward to working with him in the future.

Doug returned our call within a day and made arrangements for our first meeting.In our home he showed sames of his work, discussed our plans for our remodel and asked questions.He offered suggestions, and quot;have you thought about this?and quot; questions.A price was quoted and agreed upon. We paid one third and the balance upon completion.Doug then gave us a day when he would email us a preliminary drawing for our review and set up a following visit. After reviewing the drawings, our next visit with Doug in our home was mostly making minor changes, mostly new things we wanted done and a few details which were left out. Other contacts were offered to us for the next stage, bids.We took the provided DVD to Kinko's and they printed out the line drawings.
