Achten's Quality Roofing

I regretfully recount my nightmarish experience with Achten's Roofing, a company that claims expertise in their field but delivers nothing short of disappointment and frustration. The installation of screws on my metal roof turned into a complete disaster, highlighting their lack of professionalism, subpar workmanship, and deceitful practices. From the onset, it was evident that Achten's Roofing was ill-equipped to handle the intricacies of a metal roof. The shoddy workmanship displayed by their team was alarming, with misaligned screws and poorly driven-in angles leaving my roof vulnerable to leaks and potential structural damage. Their incompetence in handling the specific requirements and techniques necessary for such a job is simply inexcusable. To compound matters, it became apparent that Achten's Roofing had failed to adequately plan for the project. Despite my concerns about the scorching weather conditions, which made the metal roof unbearable to touch, they proceeded with the installation without consideration for my offer to reschedule. The rushed and haphazard job performed under extreme heat only exacerbated the problems and further compromised the quality of their work. To my dismay, the situation worsened when other professional roofers were called in to assess the damage caused by Achten's Roofing. These experts documented the aftermath with detailed photographs, revealing a series of alarming issues. Screws were carelessly left on the roof, dented sections were evident, and many screws were not properly tightened or secured. These findings contradict Achten's Roofing's claims of thorough inspections and cast serious doubts on their integrity. Adding insult to injury, my attempts to resolve the issue with Achten's Roofing have been met with continual disappointment. It took a painstaking six months to receive a single quote, and even then, their communication was sporadic and unreliable. Despite my persistent efforts to reach out, their lack of responsiveness and accountability have left me feeling ignored and abandoned. Achten's Roofing's disregard for customer concerns is unacceptable. Their failure to address the issues they have caused, coupled with their evasive communication, has left me with no faith in their ability to rectify the situation. I caution anyone considering Achten's Roofing to reconsider. Their negligence, deceptive practices, and abysmal communication demonstrate a severe lack of professionalism and integrity. In conclusion, I strongly advise seeking reputable and reliable roofing companies that prioritize customer satisfaction and demonstrate a commitment to quality workmanship. Achten's Roofing has proven themselves unworthy of trust and is a clear example of how a company should not operate. Excellent Work by Achten’s ! Total re-roofing job for large manufactured home built 2003, roof area approx. 3500 SF with 4 skylights. Entire job was done in less than 2 days with professional precision, expert coordination, no surprises. We got 8 estimates offering a variety of materials. Achten’s was not the cheapest or most expensive. Their reviews were highly positive, with useful details. They did a fine job to solve multiple leaking problems with good quality materials where it counted the most. Estimator Matt Huddleston answered a ton of questions and was easy to understand. He analyzed ventilation data to show we needed additional capacity. His proposal included ice and water shield underlayment (not tar paper) which improved the warranty. This seemed important for a low slope roof in wet Washington. Workmanship is just as critical. Many neighbors around us have replaced roofs but Achten’s crew appeared much neater and better organized. They get regular training and certification to deliver the quality of work critical for a long warranty. They all wore the same safety gear…unlike any of the other crews we’ve seen in our area. All are employees, no sub-contractors. Operations Manager Chris Rocco kept in close touch with everything, very important due to carpentry work to replace 13 sheets worth of plywood decking, plus vent modification. Cleanup was great – NO nails or staples (from old roof) were left around the house. They used a trailer for scrap which protected our driveway from pressure points of a dumpster. An Inspector from Washington L&I Dept. checked under shingles for signs of excess nail gun pressure and was pleased with consistent good results. He also liked the quality of materials used for underlayment, standpipes, drip edges, vent covers. A fine result from a fine company!

It took 4 days to tear off the wood shake and install the new composite shingles. They did a great job cleaning around the area after the job was completed. There was a damaged shingle that needed to be replaced. They came back out and replaced the shingle and left me with some shingles for future repair. I recommend this outfit due to quality work and good customer service with Drew.

We had several roofing contractors provide quotes, and Achten's was the lowest. We appreciated our estimator's forthrightness about what we truly needed vs. what would have been overkill for our house. Achten's was communicative about scheduling, the progress of the job, and close out. Solid workmanship at a good value.

The work was done very professionally. The workers showed up on time and did an excellent job. There was minimal debris and they cleaned up after themselves. We are very pleased with the job that was done. They replaced not only our roof but also the guttter system. We recommend them.

Achten's roofing did a great job not only with my primary residence roof but also on my rental home in the past as well. Achten's estimator was very informative and helpful with suggestions of items that would make my roof better but also informed me of things I did not require that would cost me more. Workers who completed the job were courteous and completed the job professionally. The project manager made sure the job was being completed properly and addressed any issues I had questions about and if something was not to my satisfaction it was corrected immediately. I highly recommend this company.

This is the third roof we have had done with Achten's-- we own a couple of duplexes that needed re-roofing in the past couple of years. We called Achten's and a couple other roofers for quotes, and Achten's had by far the best price for the value. The bid process was prompt and no-pressure, our options always clearly presented. When it came time do our own home, we called around, and once again Achten's came through with the best price for the value. The crew got the job done on schedule, and left the job site cleaned up and looking good.

We hired Achten's Roofing and they were great from beginning to end. We worked with Randy who was awesome and explained everything to us. When the crew came they were professional and on time. They did extra work for us which we greatly appreciated. The office staff went above and beyond and we received excellent customer service. We are so pleased with our new roof and gutters. I was very happy with this roofing company. They did a beautiful job on the new roof and two new solar tube lights. The whole staff is friendly and conscientious. The price was right, too! I highly recommend this company.

In February, 2019, we had our manufactured home (including a 10x28 covered front porch and an attached 20x20 covered patio in back) and our non-attached garage reroofed by Achten’s. We chose standing-seam metal roofing for looks and for durability…although we’re really old so durability might mean more to younger generations. I originally wanted plain metal panels because I think the panels with striations or pencil ribs look too commercial. Our salesman, Drew, explained about oil canning with flat panels. I looked up photos of oil canning (see photo) and that convinced me to choose striations. It took a while to start on the roofing due to rain, snow, and that Achten’s has only one metal roofing crew. We signed the contract and gave Achten’s half down on November 1, 2018. Diane and everyone in the office were very nice as I’m sure we were quite annoying, stopping by every other week to ask where we were on the schedule. The roofing was delivered by Nu-Ray on February 8, 2019 when the snow was almost gone. Then, it snowed like crazy on the tenth! The crew arrived on February 15 and got right to work. They worked from Friday to Friday, taking only Sunday off. Notes: The crew brings their own porta-potty and dumpster. For our house and garage, they filled the dumpster twice. This was a three-man crew and one of the things that really impressed me was that, if one of the guys doesn't need to be doing something near the end of the day, he'll be working toward whatever needs to be started in the morning. When the crew did have to replace some of the existing sheeting, they didn't remove a full 4x8 sheet and replace it. They cut out the part that needed to be replaced and replaced it (see photo). That saved some money as each replacement sheet cost us $70 (including labor). Yes, Dave had a cow. Our covered porch and patio were almost flat. When the roof slope is 1/12 (I think manufactured homes are generally 3/12 (see photo), instead of a GAF wrap (similar to Tyvek), they use a flat-roof membrane. This was good to know because we had a competing roofer tell us that we couldn’t have metal roofing on a 1/12 roof. Also, in case you’re deciding on metal roofing, there is no sawing of panels, except to fit diagonal pieces. Every panel is manufactured to the correct length and every panel bundle is marked with a location. At the end of the job, there were (my guess) eight panels remaining and some odds and ends. We were pretty excited because we’d decided to create our own metal awnings over some of our windows (DIY, not part of the roofing contract). A few days after the job was complete, someone picked up the unused roofing. Don’t know if it was picked up by Achten’s or Nu-Ray as we weren’t contacted beforehand and whoever picked up didn’t knock on our door. We felt that, if we paid for the roofing, it was ours. I checked the proposal and it said that Achten’s would “remove all debris.” Didn’t say if the unused panels are considered debris. Can’t imagine what Achten’s did with the panels. Could they return them to Nu-Ray for a refund? What would Nu-Ray do with them? We asked Chris, the Achten’s guy who measured the house and garage, if we could purchase panels to create our own awnings. He said they would do that only for existing customers, not for someone walking in “off the street.” The total for the house and garage was $40,452.50. Would we hire Achten’s again? Yes…but we’d be sure to ask about leftovers before signing a contract. I can’t speak to price so I checked N/A.

We are thoroughly pleased we chose Achten's Quality Roofing. We have a large steep roof with quite a few valleys so we were initially a little apprehensive in choosing a company to do the job. Everyone that we worked with on our project was very knowledgeable, professional, and highly experienced. Their attention to detail was amazing. We will continue to use them to provide the yearly cleaning to take care of our beautiful new roof. We highly recommend this company. The employees there are awesome to work with!!

The job was well done, our roof was very detailed with multiple ridgelines and valleys. We had one contractor not give a quote due to the size and complexity of the job, Achtens did a great job, cleanup was perfect and the price was very competitive.

Had these guys do work on my home in the past. Had a positive experience. It was no-brainer to call them again. Called Friday 9/14/2018, spoke to a representative gave them my information and did not hear back. Not good and moving on to another company.

Can't say enough good things about the experience my wife and I had with Achten Roofing. We recently moved into a new home and while the roof probably had a few years left we decided to have it replaced. Of the three roofers I contacted only Drew from Achten actually climbed up on the roof, took pictures, explained everything he saw and confirmed that the roof had a few more years but was very "rough" in a few spots. Drew took the time to walk me thru the various options including the price impact of each option and together we were able to get a gorgeous new roof at a price we could afford. However there was so much more that Drew provided. He stayed with the project the completion and ensured we were totally satisfied. Can't say enough good things about the quality and workmanship Achten provided. During the roof tear off, the Achten crew was very careful not to damage the landscaping around the house, brought in their Porta a Potty so as not to track thru the house, and at the end did a meticulous job of clearing the yard and surroundings of any debris. I would highly recommend Achten for any roofing job, large or small.

Fair price, low pressure sales and very knowledgeable. Gave us many options to choose from. The crew worked very quickly, and efficiently; no mess left behind. It even rained one evening during the install, and the roofers covered our house with tarps to protect the unfinished areas. For a full roof replacement from cedar shake to composite, they were well priced.

Outstanding. Great response from to my initial phone call - w/in two days I met w/Carl Carlson and he surveyed our roof and had a estimates a mere two days later. He projected our reroofing project to commence w/in four to five weeks - it started only two weeks later and was finished w/in two days. High quality work and materials and nimble "during work" modifications were conducted when "conditions found" were encountered. Overall an outstanding experience!

Achten's crew is the best! The guys showed up on time, worked hard and efficiently, maintained professionalism, did a great job on the install, and cleaned up afterwards. We are very pleased, and the roof looks great! They replaced gutters, downspouts, installed two new skylight replacements (old ones had failed) and installed a new sun tunnel in a room we use as an art studio. This is the second roof they have replaced for us, and we will continue to use them if we should ever need another.
