Description of Work: Cleaned out dust/lint from cpu causing overheating problem and ran anti-virus program sweep to remove some problems currently installed program missed. Installed new SSD HD as the original HD was corrupted and had too many bad sectors to be useful. Upgraded RAM from 2 Gigs to 4 Gigs. Transferred data from old drive to new. (was running hot). Installed new anti-virus/spam-ware program. | |Nathan did an excellent job. Originally brought computer in as it was not booting up and seemed to be overheating. Suspected prob with drive (confirmed) and possible intermittent video. We discussed options and whether it was feasible to upgrade or get another low price computer. After crunching numbers we decided to fix/upgrade this on for same price as new one but w/ better internals. | |Service was excellent - this is the second computer I have brought into A+ for troubleshooting repair, and will continue to future challenges beyond my capabilities to them to repair.

+ -1 moreNathan was very helpful in confirming that I was having problems with video in my laptop which is over 5 yrs old. He quickly determined that it was either a loose video chip or problem with motherboard due to possible overheating. AS he was swamped with work he gave me an estimate that it would be about 3 days from drop-off. I was fine with that time-frame as I had an older simple laptop to use in the interim as a backup. He even pulled the HD and we copied a few files to a CD so that I could transfer them over to the spare laptop and do some work over the next three days on some word docs. He also verified that my HDMI out was working properly as I was having problems with the audio setup (turns out operator error) and he showed me where I was skipping a step when using it for movie playback on our Large TV. I saw that A+ had good ratings on Angie's List for the store in Bellevue - but no one had submitted a review for the Tacoma store before. I am very satisfied with the repair a customer service Nathan provided and will not hesitate to use his services again.
Description of Work: Diagnosed and confirmed that my video was not working correctly on my Dell Laptop. Determined that my laptop was running hot and that it had caused the solder to loosen on the video chip. Conducted a video re-flow (re-soldered chip in place) and cleaned out dust inside CPU and replaced thermal paste on CPU/GPU.
