Description of Work: Kitchen laminate install. terrible product construction, terrible service. I had to replace the counter top as the workmanship and construction was not suitable for rental and household use. Run the other way! I am still waiting for the refund I was told I would receive. Then told they would hold the money as long as legally allowed because I complained and tried to mediate and they don't like anyone knowing about their horrible products and service. |Not trust worthy. Buyer beware.

I contacted company regarding the installation of either a quartz or granite counter top. I was responded to quickly and given an estimate up front. I requested that they provide a sink and let them know I had a dishwasher; at this point, I asked how long it would take for installation, I was informed it should be about a week from when they measured. They came out a week later and measured for the counter top, telling me that they would have the work order written up and ready for me to sign later on that day. This is where communication began to break down. I asked for two bids and received two different prices, one for granite and one for quartz but they both said granite was the material (no big deal just a typo) and both had the wrong sales tax % and both said they were page 1 of 2 (including a disclaimer that related to page 2) and both were only a 1 page pdf. I confirmed with the estimator that the typo was going to be changed and that they were going to amend the sales tax. He agreed and had the changed pdf sent over (still only the first page was sent). I requested the second page, and he then sent it. I then began to wait the week before asking for status. When I finally called, I was asked if I understood that I was COD, that I needed to pay for the job before they would begin the job (not COD by definition, but again not a big deal). I asked what sort of deposit they were looking for and the company rep didn't seem to know. I offered up 50% and she accepted it. I then asked, since it said a 5% charge for CC on the purchase order if that applied to credit cards only or to debit cards as well. She said it was for both. I then trekked down to their office and dropped off the check and asked when I would be scheduled. She then told me that they didn't have the material and they would have to wait until they had the material before they could begin working on it. I then stated that the estimator quoted me a one week turn time. The receptionist said that he should never have quoted me that. I grumbled, but decided not to make further issue. So next, while I was then waiting, I happened across a silgranite sink and at a better price than they quoted for stainless. I called them to ask if they had material yet and, if not, if it would be possible to amend the purchase order to remove their sink as long as I dropped off the sink for them. They said they didn't have the material yet and said that it would not be a big deal as long as I dropped it off that day. I then trekked down to their office and dropped off the sink. I made sure that they made an adjustment to the balance and that they knew which order the sink was for and tried to make plenty of eye contact to ensure the guy who grabbed it was certain that it would be fine. He put my information on a sticky note and put it inside the sink, saying that this would be the sink that will go in. Feeling satisfied, I left. Finally on a Monday they called me and said that they had the material and it would be ready Friday. I said that was great and planned to take some time off to meet them there. I was then informed, on Thursday afternoon, that they were wrong and that they wouldn't make it until Monday. I then requested they move it to Tuesday, since I was taking that day off for another matter, but I still lost a vacation day for no reason. I met them the following Tuesday and when they arrived the installation crew was great. They came in made sure the fit was correct, and started to make to cuts for the faucet that I gave them. The main installer, a Hispanic guy named Angel, didn't speak much English, but he knew what he was doing and made sure at each step that I was happy. This was until they unwrapped the stainless steel sink they brought with them. I told them, at length, that this was not my sink and that I gave the office a sink for them to pattern and install. The installers called the office and were unable to determine what happened to my sink. They then agreed to go and see if they could find it. They returned with the sink and installed it. I asked what happened and they said it was just sitting in the office with the note in it. I then grew curious about the sink cutout and whether it was indeed for my sink, but the installation crew assured me that it was fine. After they left I felt the underside of the install and I was convinced that the cutout was for the stainless sink as the undermount has a recess (the counter top is smaller than the sink face) of about a half inch the middle tapering to about a quarter of an inch in the corners. That said, I then had the better half take a look and while she agreed that while it felt like it was too small of a cutout, she thought it was fine. I then made my way down to the office to pay the other half. Upon arrival, I couldn't find the receptionist I spoke to the first time, so I worried I might run into problems. Anticipating the confusion, I pulled out my check book, a PDF of the revised purchase order and did all of the math for them (since I paid 50% before removing the sink, I owed less than 50% of the balance). The gal that did take the check proceeded to look confused and told me that the amount on the check wasn't the same amount she had in the system. I went back and forth with her (even showing her the amounts of the old check, the new check, and the pdf), while she and the office manager kept looking confused. Finally after looking for the book keeper who had since gone home and after the fourth time I explained it to the first gal, she called over the office manager and told her that she figured it out, reciting what I had just told her 4 times. The office manager then added that apparently, when they changed the purchase order to remove the sink, they created a whole new purchase order and didn't transfer the balance from the old P.O. to the new one. Needless to say, if I could've hired the work crew without using the shop administration, I would have.

Topline sent out employees that did not appear professional, and not the kind of people I would associate with, nor invite into my home. They where careless, and where in a hurry (rush to get to the next job) to install 6 counter tops that cost $14000. They told me they get paid by the job so they had to hurry. They shimmed counter-tops on top of perfectly level cabinets so they were almost a 1/2 out of level and the sink would not set flush in the laundry room.. When they re-did these tops the dry wall had to be repaired and repainted. (additional expenses they did not cover) The master bath top was cut three times before they got it right. The second time, one of the sinks was off center 4 inches. The installer told me to just cut out the side of the cabinet so it would fit. We had a heated argument and I told him that I would uninstall that top if he did not. The kitchen was another disaster. The Stove did not fit, the wrong sink was installed, and they shimmed where they did not need to. Also the sink was not mounted center the first time. Also they broke a piece off and just glued it back together like it was no big deal. Looked like crap. Again the drywall had to be fixed. Then in the island they cut the receptacle holes to big. And I gave them the actual box that was going to be installed before they cut the holes. They promised to have it all fixed within a week. It took them a few weeks if I remember correctly. I was very upset. We tried calling them after the final install and they blocked our phone numbers. How professional is that? I would not send my worst enemy to this company.

It was a nightmare. They came out and measured it wrong. They told me they would just have to shave my cabinet a little bit to get the sink in and they ended up having to cut the whole wall out. They ended up making the countertops 3 times. The first time they put the hole wrong for the sink; the second time it was 1 1/2 inches short on the back and the third time the bottom part of the L-shaped countertop was 1/2 inch short. They were going to put in a board and get it stained. They couldn't find the stain so they brought the board to me to get stained and installed myself. It took 3 1/2 weeks. They took $225 off and I told them that I wouldn't pay until the job was done. I had arranged to pay by check instead of credit card because they charge 5% more. They charged my credit card for the full amount so I had to contact my credit card company to stop the payment. I didn't charge them for my time and it took a while to get the stain. The counter was nice but they wouldn't return my calls. I had to live without a kitchen counter for 10 or 11 days. We had no dishwasher or kitchen sink. They did not treat us well and I would not recommend them to anybody, not even my worst enemy. A trainee came out twice to measure and he measured wrong.

The counter tops look beautiful. They did a wonderful job with the installation. They didn't make a mess, came in at the price they said they would, and were very hard working. I would highly recommend them to others.
