UNIQUE CABINETS

Initial site visit was great. Ideas provided by Tom for small detailed improvements were wonderful. Installation quality of veneer was ok at best. Many scratches, scrapes, etc. Trim on upper and lower cabinets was sloppy. Door hardware incomplete with missing screws and stripped screws so doors did not shut properly. Countertop install mediocre at best. Mismatched 2 pieces so grain pattern does not look right. Edge install very poor. Overall attention to detail (Finish carpentry) missing.

Tom at Unique cabinets was great to work with. He had some very good ideas for design and was very accommodating. His crew Mark and Mario were extremely professional and are diffidently skilled craftsmen. When they left at the end of the day the work area was always clean. Unique has some great people. The cabinets turned out beautiful, they way exceeded my expectations. The reason We did not rate price was because we only had one bid, was wishing we would of maybe got at least one more bid, but after all said and done was very happy we didn't. Don't think anyone else could of done a better job and happy we went with Tom and his crew.. Thank you Unique cabinets.

Tom Sohns (owner) provided great ideas and insight into the remodel of our kitchen; consistently in contact with us either by phone or at our home; very professional; finished the work in a timely manner; very pleased with the outcome of our 'new' kitchen.

It started out well however coordination with individuals who put in the granite was a disaster. and quot;Someoneand quot; broke several tiles on my kitchen floor but no one owned up to it. When asking it to be fixed by the contractor's the owner of Unique suggested I just turn it into my homeowner's insurance. Never coming to a settlement on the matter and after it was threatened to put a lien on the property, I just paid them. Six sinks were removed from the premises, without my permission, and although it was eventually decided that I would be given a receipt (for tax purposes), that never occurred, it never happened. A project that was supposed to be completed in two weeks wasn't completed in more than two months.

Unique Cabinets had conducted the now existing kitchen upgrade in 2003 for previous owner. We own a standing refrigerator and a standing freezer units, so a 2nd appliance surround was needed. Also desired new cabinetry on the adjoining kitchen-dining room. Tom answered my initial call promptly. Came to the initial visit having reviewed the previous upgrade. He designed a very nice addition in line with my desires which weren't always easy to detail clearly. Also discussed possible future remodel of the upgrade to move and enlarge the island. Took a couple visits to ensure measurements were spot on and matched existing cabinet dimensions. I also found the shear options of counter tops to be very daunting and hard to visualize the results. The existing granite countertops are not easy to match or complement. Choosing a fine grained oak helped insure the busy color-textured kitchen both was 'quieted' and ensured the new cabinets looked like the 'arts and crafts' type built ins I've always loved. Workmanship was excellent; while it took several days (at least one awaiting granite cutting), the workmen always left the area clean and tidy. They were friendly and professional. The kitchen and adjoining dining room are now unified and balanced in function and 'feel'. I am very, very pleased with the look and quality. My only complaints: Contract was signed in late August, they were not available to start until early October; which meant they held 50% down for 6 weeks. Drawer pulls and knobs were not available in the same finish as existing upgrade.

We found Tom at a local home improvement show. We scheduled him and several others for bids. He came prepared with examples and references for his work. Tom's bid was not the lowest, but it was very fair and his references were great. His crew was always very polite. He was the first contractor we have ever worked with that came in and did the work and finished on time. He also was so helpful in the design phase. We really didn't change the layout of the kitchen, but when we were looking at changing an old dropped ceiling lighting panel - his input/recommendation went above and beyone what we had envisioned on our own. What a pleasure! We love our new kitchen and have nothing but positive words to share.
