An F because you didn't get a call back? Over 11 years of busting my bottom.....but you didn't get your call back. Ever consider maybe I didn't get your message? Maybe it wasn't clearly understood? Did you call back to make sure I got your message? By giving me an F you put all the responsibilities on me and relieved yourself of any. Hint: contractors are busy. A call back goes a long way. Or you can just use the passive platform of social media to express yourself. Hey look! We're actually neighbors too.

Tom arrived, took one look at my faucet and told me I would be wasting my money having him repair the old faucet. He instructed me to go out and buy a Moen even a cheap Moen which I did/ He came back the next day and changed to faucet to the new faucet which was no easy job. The house had been a rental before I bought so the attachment to the sink was corroded and Tom had to file and saw to get the old faucet out. He came back a few days later to with sink hole covers to complete the job and did not ask me for payment until the job was completely finished. Even with all the work he had to do to get the old faucet out he did not over charge

We called him, and he agreed to installed toilets for us. I asked him what type to get, as we needed to get, because I assumed we needed to provide the toilets . He said unless you have something special picked out, there was a special at the warehouse, on an brand that he thinks is great, Toto is the brand. He would be more than happy to bring to the house. He installed. The toilets are wonderful. The price is fair. We will be using him again for our kitchen stuff. We are in an wait mode right now. I would defiantly recommend him. They selected toilets for us, and delivered them for us. That was above and beyond for us. It was worth seven twenty to us. I don't know how to rate, because I can't compare the price. Excellent.
Description of Work: I contacted them. I needed new toilets. Included the price of the toilets. Toilet seats, and accessories to install the toilets.

After a desperate late Friday afternoon call (no hot water) Tom arranged his personal schedule to help us out. After inspection, he found that the pilot light needed restarting. He could have sold us a new heater, we would not have known any better, but he didn't. In fact he said he'd charge only $20. We insisted he take $40, because he deserved it - his promptness, courtesy, professionalism, and honesty are so refreshing! I just left him a note that we need his services AGAIN, for a variety of plumbing issues, none that have anything to do with the water heater. To find a specialist that you can truly trust to do the best, most economical prompt job is so wonderful - and I guarantee Tom WILL be our plumber for life!

Tom was courteous, fast and efficient in his work. My new water heater works perfectly. I will stick with Tom and South Hill Plumbing. I know I can trust him.
Description of Work: My older water heater rusted out and leaked water all over my basement. I called Bulldog Plumbing to take a look. They shut off two valves (gas and hot water), but unbeknownst to me, did not isolate the unit from the cold water flow. As a result, the unit kept filling with cold water and flowing onto my basement floor. BIGGER FLOOD! Thankfully, Tom Sanderson came and capped the line to stop the flow of water, cleaned up what he could and a few days later, replaced my water heater with a new, more efficient one.

Awful. I had already done the electrical required. The company sent someone called Bill the Fauceteer to do the work. The man who showed up spent almost 2 hours and could not handle the job. He said I would have to order a part not included. I did so, through them, and when it arrived a different man came oput to do the install. He spent another 2+ hours, did not use the part ordered, though I was charged for it, and finally charged me $250+.

I've used SouthHill Plumbing before and found them reasonably priced, so I called them to check out my old tub/shower plumbing when we started a remodel. Tom is professional and does a really good job. He even gave me a few tips on the best way to tile around the fixtures. I'll use him anytime I have plumbing projects.

Tom took faucet apart (more than one screen) and removed grit from inoperable spray nozzle. He wouldn't take any money for the service and recommended replacements - IF we wanted to replace. He didn't push, and offered to help us save money on a high quality replacement faucet. Very prompt, knowledgeable and friendly - I will ABSOLUTELY call him when in need of plumbing services!

We got 3 estimates and Tom was not only the most reasonably priced, he also offered the best solutions for what we needed without trying to oversell us. He arrived on time and completed the job as requested. I have only one minor complaint, he did not clean up after himself. Other than that, he did a great job and brought the project in on time and as planned. I will use him again and have already recommended him to friends.
Description of Work: We are remodeling our kitchen and needed water pipes moved to a new location for the sink. We also installed a prep sink where pipes needed to be installed. He also moved the gas pipe location for the range. Lastly he installed a pressure reducer valve for the whole house.

I would say he was the best plumber I've had come work on my house. He knows his profession and knows how to do his job. He not only fixed my initial request, but made suggestions or pointed out problems that I had been living with not knowing that they could be improved. Other plumbers just did what I requested or lately didn't do anything such as refusing to touch my broken bathtub drain lever saying they didn't want to mess with it. When I pointed out my non-working bathtub drain lever he immediately unscrewed it and pulled out the mechanism and showed me why it wouldn't work. He got a replacement part and now I no longer have to manually hold down the lever to get my bathtub to drain which I had been doing for a year because the last plumber refused to touch it and I figured the plumbing was too old to fix. When I had him replace a shut off valve to an outside spigot, he told me he could reroute the plumbing line so I wouldn't have to go into my crawlspace to turn on or turn off the water which I absolutely hated to do. The other plumber who had replaced the shut off valve years ago, never made that suggestion. Instead he just replaced the lever. Now I no longer have to crawl into the crawl space of my house to get to the lever. It is now positioned right next to the door of the crawlspace. You can't imagine my relief in not going into that spooky crawlspace! I found him easy to work with and I liked his sense of humor and will call him again with any future plumbing problems.
Description of Work: Had him over three times to finish various jobs. Rebuilt bathtub faucet stems, replace faucet handles on bathtub, outside spigots, fix bathtub drain lever, fixed the shower leaking water when the bathtub faucets were opened, replaced shut off valve and re-route plumbing to make it easier to shut off and turn on water to outside spigot, calked around bathtub .

Tom arrived on time and went right to work. He was very tidy and didn't create any additional mess. He was very conscientious about draining the old water heater properly. He answered all my questions without being annoyed at my inquisitiveness. The new water heater was up and running in far less time than I had anticipated. I felt completely safe with having him in my home. Overall it was a very pleasant experience.

He worked for us on two occasions. One was this last fall, he came out. We had to have him come out because of a mistake he made, on the big job we had him do. We had a lot of work done march through may 2013. we did a face lift on our bathroom. So we needed a professional plumber to do a number of things in the bathroom, and also install a water softener for us downstairs, a number of plumbing jobs. We've used South Hill plumbing in the past, and his work was very satisfactory. This time he did work in the bathroom, and he did a short cut on part of the plumbing work he did in the bathroom. Subsequent to that, in October, that plumbing sprung a leak. This was the plumbing behind the bathtub that you have to move a cupboard out to get to. It leaked into our den below. This man does excellent work. He comes in, and works super fast, and sometimes he cuts corners. This was a situation where he did that. He is a really good plumber, but he has a temper. He's abrupt, he wouldn't stand behind his work. I tired to talk to him. I actually called up a couple companies that made these unions, the part, and they said that they should never be re-utilized. If they are they have to be thoroughly cleaned, because when they're separated, there?s crude that sticks to the surface. If you don't get it back in the same spot exactly, that crude will cause it to leak. So I tried to talk to him about that, and he wouldn't hear anything about it. He ended up doing it in the end. I would like to use him again, I just cant afford it because he doesn't stand behind his work. I think he over commits himself, and he's in a hurry, which is not unusual for this line of work. He was always in a rush. He is a good plumber, he shouldn't have re-utilized that one part. He is a bit pricey, but not totally outrageous. I can understand he made a mistake, but he didn't stand be hind his work, and that is a big deal.

Response from South Hill Plumbing Llc
Sir, you're "review" is filled with untruths and inconsistencies. First off you hired me on 6 different occasions. If my prices were too high you certainly didn't portray that. Also, my quick style of working allows me to keep my labor costs down. In thought that was a good thing. In regards to the union in question, it is against the Uniform Plumbing Code to bury a union in an unacceptable area, IE: behind the shelving of you linen closet. The reason for that is that they can develop a leak. If the union is over 20 years old, which yours are, then the probability grows. As far as the plumbers who you spoke to about this union I feel that you either got false information or are simply stretching the truth. If a union is not supposed to be opened and closed then it defeats the purpose of what a union is. I told you that last year when this problem developed. Also, if the union is closed and tightened it is impossible for grit to get into the seal. I'm afraid you are simply wrong about that. In regards to your assertion that I cut corners, this I deny emphatically. I have never cut corners, as you claim. I have never been accused of cutting corners by anyone in my professional life. Not as an apprentice, not as a journeyman, nor as an owner. I take pride in my work as reflected in the over 70 positive reviews on this site. As far as standing by my work, you even say that I fixed the leak. Moreover, I never charged you for this repair because of all the work we have done together. And I make it a point to tell all of my clients to call me with any issues or questions they may have with the work I do. In regards to your personal judgement of me having a temper I must say that although this "review" definitely tested me in that respect I don't believe one harsh word has ever been exchanged between us. As I recall our professional relationship ended after I fixed the leak, acknowledged that you blamed me for it, then simply left. I didn't agree with your assertions then, and I don't now. That fact does not define me as a person with a bad temper, just one that knows more about plumbing than you. I run my business in a fair manner. I take pride in my service to others. I certainly am not getting rich doing what I do. But I am proud that it allows me to raise my two boys, take care of my elderly father, and do good work at a fair price. You have my number if you would like to discuss this matter any further.

Called South Hill plumbing after another plumber failed to fix the problem with our toilet. He regretfully told us we likely needed a new toilet. Then our downstairs toilet was removed for new flooring and the flooring guy could not reinstall it. South Hill came and fixed the problem so that the toilet would attach correctly. I have called since and I always get prompt response. Unfortunately the last time I called, he was out of town and we had to use another company. Again, it was not a good experience. Will stick with South Hill in the future.

Tom is both a professional plumber and a very likeable guy. He is more than happy to share his thoughts and opinions, and offer suggestions on how to best complete your project. I was in the process of adding a basement bathroom to a storage area where the builder had just stubbed in supply lines, and installed a sump well. Tom helped me strategize framing, sizing components and even placement of lighting & fan fixtures. We looked at options for faucets/trim and he even took the time to explain the differences between what he provides, and what you see at Home Depot. He was a tremendous help all the way around. Overall the entire project took 2 full days, with the first day dedicated to jackhammering concrete and setting drain and supply lines. Tom's assistant did most of the drain work, while Tom installed the supplies. Both did a great job, and I was shocked at how much they actually got done in one day. Tom then came back when everything was complete to make sure his assistant's work was up to his standards. Once I patched the concrete, finished up the drywall, texture and paint, Tom came back to set the shower pan and install valves on the toilet and sink supply lines. This went pretty quickly, and I couldn't be happier with the work, and the fact that I now have a go-to plumber next time I need one. Highly Recommended!!!!
