Description of Work: We hired Smith Brothers to rough-in our basement bathroom and kitchenette area. Our shower pan was cracked and they were very accommodating. They answered all of our questions promptly and professionally. We will be calling them to complete the finish installations and we are absolutely thrilled with the professional job they did. We highly recommend them!

Tracy Smith is a true plumbing professional and craftsman. The old galvanized water lines were a mess, leaks waiting to happen. The new PEX homerun system is very organized with shutoff valves easily accessible. Tracy is organized and a true craftsman in the plumbing trade I am so pleased with how well thought out the whole project went together. Tracy told us the job would take two days and it took two days, he told us he would start at 8am and he was here at 8am. Tracy is a one man company but for this job his daughter helped him, it was great to see a father and daughter working together and enjoying it.
Description of Work: Remove old galvanized water lines and replace with new PEX water piping homerun system. Fix tub leak, install new bathroom faucet, install new laundry tub faucet and install new frost free outside hose bibb. Replace old main water line shut off valve with new shut off valve.

We had a plumbing emergency. The drain from our bathtub and wash basin was leaking badly into the basement. Tracy was available to come the next day. Our house was built in 1917. A previous owner remodeled the bathroom and had created a Gordian Knot of lousy leaking plumbing. This made it extremely difficult and time consuming to repair. Tracy analyzed the problems and communicated them to us very well. He had to work in an extremely tight space, but he completely redid the drains, and cleaned out the blockage. He also repaired an old toilet and installed a separate new one. He was friendly and very professional. He charged the standard rate for a professional plumber. He did not charge for the time he spent getting parts for the various jobs he performed for us. The drain problem was really complex and Tracy handled it with skill and grace. We were extremely comfortable with him in our home. This was my first experience with Angie's List and it was GREAT!

Tracy came to our home a week ago to diagnose a problem with our wall-mounted kitchen faucet and was able to jimmy a stopgap solution until our new faucet arrived. Meanwhile, the faucet dripped about a gallon an hour (not his fault). The new faucet arrived. He promised Tuesday (3 days ago) that he would come by yesterday or today. Today (Friday) at 1 pm I called him. He said he couldn't make it. His vehicle's in the shop and so his schedule's thrown off. He put me off until next Tuesday. I pointed out he'd promised to come by and that we were dripping so much water. He hemmed and hawed and finally said he had commitments to larger jobs and his ongoing work for other contractors, so unfortunately smaller jobs like mine had to get put aside. To my mind, you live by your commitments if that means coming by in the evening or Saturday or as soon as you can make it. You don't tell someone they're too small a job to be worth honoring your commitment. The guy who did come out this afternoon got it done within an hour.
Description of Work: He didn't anything on this job. He promised to do it, but got too busy. See next box for full explanation.

He came in and solved the problem, was really helpful, nice guy. The $85 service fee for 15 minutes' work seems a bit high but maybe that's the going rate. I'll definitely call him again if a problem comes up.
Description of Work: Shut off water main, removed kitchen faucet knob, found broken part, suggested we just replace the old faucet because it would very difficult to find the broken part, given that the faucet didn't have a brand name on it anywhere. Put broken part back in best he could and it's mostly okay until our new faucet arrives.

I was shopping around for quotes from plumbers on Angie's List by email. Got several responses back from highly rated plumbers in the Spokane area. Spoke to several and although the free water heater inspection was a nice fringe benefit, it was Tracy Smith's demeanor on the phone that sold me. He sounded like a nice and honest guy (not to say that other people I spoke to weren't, but they just didn't grab me the way Tracy did). I figured two great reasons to give him a chance to come fix our really bad leaky shower situation. First off Tracy is and was excellent at communication. Both by email and phone and although he had several big projects ongoing prior to our call he gave us his schedule and made time for our small (but actually ended up not being quite as small as we thought) plumbing issue. Tracy was over two times. The first visit was to assess and primarily to fix our shower that was continually leaking a lot of water we couldn't get to stop and to inspect our water heater. Even though the water heater was a side issue and a freebie, Tracy took his time to not only really inspect it, but to educate us on water heater deterioration so we would know what to expect as time goes by. Never suggested a repair to the water heater that wasn't needed, just gave it to us straight approximately how long they last, what exact condition ours was in and how he came to that conclusion and recommended steps if/when we have a repair issue in the future on the water heater. Awesome job! On our shower/bathtub, we have an old house, prior to existing plumbing code so we have a 3 part shower unit. 1 knob is hot, another knob is cold, and the center knob is what switches between bath and shower. The middle and quot;stemand quot; was completely shot at least from our perspective so we were not using it, and just left it in shower mode. The main issue we had was that water would continually leak, no matter how tight we turned the knob and apparently was a washer issue. What made this repair annoying is that whoever installed the original plumbing slapped parts together and basically forced it together in a sloppy way that required more than just swapping out a part. Tracy took a lot of time to investigate, problem solve, and find the most pragmatic economical solution for us as we're not wealthy and our main concern was stopping a leak. Tracy has such incredible integrity that while he was figuring out how best to proceed to fix the overall problem he literally told us he felt he took too long doing so and was not going to charge us for the actual time he spent on it. Not something you hear everyday from someone who makes their living based on the time they spend fixing something. We were very impressed. Due to the unfortunate complexity of the repair, parts needed etc. Tracy scheduled a return visit to finalize it. He did not even want to be paid for the time he already spent until he came back and finished! So on his return visit he gave us 2 options. 1 was to address the leak, but not completely rebuild the unit and have a functional shower situation, but not necessarily 100% fixed at a lower price and the other was to completely rebuild the unit. He went into detail so that we understood what was involved on both options and we made a unanimous and informed decision to rebuild the unit. It was very fair on the pricing, especially given the reasons I already mentioned, and our shower works great (BETTER) than when we bought our home. Worth every penny and we thoroughly enjoyed meeting and spending time with Tracy. When you are looking at all of the high rated plumbers in town don't ignore and quot;Smith Brothers Plumbingand quot; because there aren't as many reviews. Mind you all Smith Brothers Plumbing reviews at the time of this writing are all very positive I am referring to the actual number of reviews compared to some other larger operations in town is all. The point is from our family's experience Tracy and company will get the job done right and with fairness and integrity. Smith Brothers Plumbing is our go to plumber going forward! A+++ Thank You Tracy from Kathy and Jeremy!
Description of Work: Old 3 part shower/faucet unit was leaking, stripped and in need of repair. Smith Brothers Plumbing also had a coupon for free water heater inspection which we were in need of anyway. Tracey completely rebuilt old style 3 part shower/faucet unit as well as inspected the water heater.

He was pleasant, but when I asked him about my walk-in bathtub draining so slowly, he told me "I don't do them, but the drain pipe is probably too small. It has to be 2" pipe going from it rather than 1-3/4". That's all he said regarding it. Didn't offer name of anyone else who could look into it or fix it.
Description of Work: Repaired leaking pipe; also was going to install new bathroom sink for me, and have not heard back from him. He said my type of sink was readilly available and locating one wouldn't be a problem, but still, I've heard nothing back and it's been over a month. I am handicapped and housebound, so I can't go out and shop and purchase one for myself, so I have to depend on the plumber to get one and install it.

They did well. They figured it all out for me and were very clean. There were a few things afterwards that I wished they had been available to follow up on. They had to turn the water off before they did the installation, and apparently all that had backed up due to hard water scale and stuff like that blocking several shower heads and faucets. I called him, and he walked me through it, and I was able to resolve it myself. I have no idea how their price was because I have no comparison. I would use them again in the future if necessary.
Description of Work: I used Smith Brothers Plumbing to install a new hot water heater.

I found Smith Brothers Plumbing on Angie's list, of course. I called Tracy and told him what I needed to have done. He said he could be there the next day, around 10:00 am. He went over the hourly charges with me in advance, and when I asked him if he would be okay with using the supplies I had already bought, he said he would. I asked him if I would need to go out and pick up anything, he said he would have it with him. The next day he called me around 9:00 or 9:30 and said he was on his way. He got there a little before 10:00, introduced himself, I showed him what needed to be done and where everything was, and he got immediately to work. He went from job to job quickly, cleanly, and efficiently. He did need to provide some parts from his truck, which he charged me about as much as I would have paid for at the hardware store (and knowing me, I would have gotten the wrong thing!). I would definitely use him again. You seldom run into anyone anymore that has such an excellent work ethic. And also, he has a very cute sidekick that waits in the truck while he is working (his dog)...I just had to go out and visit a couple of times and take some treats!
Description of Work: I needed a new kitchen faucet installed, a toilet supply line replaced, and a main valve replaced (that turns the water off to my whole house).

Excellent. My wife and I were looking to remodel our upstairs bathrooms. Smith Brothers Plumbing was referred to me by a co-worker who had used their services some 5-10 years prior and was very satisfied with the work. Not knowing if the company still existed, I looked in the yellow pages and viola, there it was. I called to get a plumbing cost estimate on what we wanted to do. Tracy was prompt to respond and actually came out that same day. We were wanting to do more than just the plumbing and were fortunate to get a referral from Tracy for a construction company. The rest is history. I would not call any other company to do plumbing in my house. Tracy has done all of the plumbing now for 3 bathroom remodels as well as the other items I mentioned earlier. When we go to remodel the kitchen rest assured Tracy will be back to do the plumbing.
Description of Work: We had Tracy Smith (Smith Brothers Plumbing) replace our main water line shut-off valve. We have also had Tracy replace an exterior faucet, our washer hot/cold shut-off valves, and he has done other plumbing for us when we remodeled our upstairs bathrooms.

Great experience overall! I called Smith Brother's Plumbers about a year ago to repair faulty faucet on the exterior of my home. They promptly came out and replaced the faucet satisfactorily. This winter, I noticed that the faucet was leaking, so I called again and they quickly came out to remedy the problem. Turns out, it was a faulty part, and they were quick to make a replacement at no additional charge. Not positive what I paid originally, but I think it was around $100. In any case, I know I was comfortable with the pricing, and exceptionally pleased with the service. I would definitely refer neighbors and friends to Smith Brothers Plumbing.
