The job went great and a teaching opportunity for a young apprentice that helped the journeyman. I like it when I see training. Work was on time and in budget. City inspector said they saved me a lot of money by where they moved the panel to. Got more work coming they’re way.

Fine. They were friendly and helpful.

Final price billed was double what was quoted ending up to be an exorbitantly excessive charge for the work done. Initial quote was given by the service manager over the phone who kept no record of the quote and declined to issue a written quote. A fan motor replacement as a more affordable repair was recommended by the electrician doing the initial troubleshooting who also confirmed the price with his service manager before proceeding with the repair. The company, however, billed me for a completely new fan assembly at double the cost of the quote for the motor. Two transformers were replaced for the kitchen lights when only 1 was dysfunctional and these were billed at double the cost of the price quoted. Hours billed for the 2 trips needed were more than the time actually spent on site. When I discussed these irregularities with the Merit representative, they said there was nothing they could do to bring the amount billed to me in line with the phone quote given by their service manager who did not keep a record and, by their admission, was no longer working with the company. For a bill over $300 more than what was quoted, Merit conceded to a meager $30 price adjustment . In the end, with Merit's failure to establish a quote record for my project, there was no way to objectively negotiate the differences. I was told it was basically my word against theirs with Merit failing to provide any record of what their word was. This is a very slipshod way to run a business and is a reminder to never take a contractor at their word and always insist on terms in writing. There are other electrical contractors in Spokane who would have done my project less expensively and more transparently.

It went quickly. I am a 49 year old disabled man and I needed light's on my wheelchair ramp and I needed 1 in the carport Jim Zupkus set me up with lighting on my ramp and in the carport one of the light's he was also able to have the light switch for the back porch control it. They were very professional and very pleasant to work with.

Merit had the lowest quote and the quickest availablity. They arrived the morning of the appointment. They asked a couple questions about where I wanted things installed, then got right to work. After the work was done the electrician explained to me how the transfer switch works. They were professional and hardworking. I was glad to have Merit complete this job for me. The work including tax was $100 lower than the next quote I received. One company quoted me double the cost Merit charged.

The first visit we were highly impressed as it only took one worker under 3 hours to install a 240 box on the entire opposite end of the house from where the panel was located. We did not have the hot tub yet so he had to come back. The scheduler did not have a opening for another 3 weeks. They kindly put us on a waiting list and we got in the next week. However, it did not go smoothly. The electrician had installed the box to close to the hot tub, as per code. A code we knew nothing about. Instead of taking responsibility he said we had to move the hot tub. One, we had showed him exactly where the hot tub was going and I even measured the spot out ensuring the cover would clear the box. Two, there was absolutely no other spot for the hot tub to go. It irked me the guy did not take full ownership of the mistake and went and sat in his truck for 45 minutes after I told him the box would have to be moved because there was no other place for the hot tub and we had spent $$$ prepping the spot it was on. I was so mad I was going to use another electrician. However, after sleeping on it and being happy with Merit in the past I decided to call and talk to the manager. Everything turned around from there. They sent the same electrician out and he had everything fixed up in a couple of hours. He did try take my GFI outlet but I will give him the benefit of the doubt that it inadvertently ended up in his bucket. I asked for an itemized invoice with parts and time. I did not get it. However, the price seemed very fair and was happy to pay it. In the end, we are very happy. We are okay with occasional hiccups; IF, the company takes responsibility and makes it right. We feel Merit did that. And have no problem using them next time.

Mario and Robert did a great job. This wasn't a conventional job, in my opinion, but they handled the twists and turns with no problem. The inspector complimented their work, said it was correct, and was nice and neat. The senior discount was greatly appreciated!

It did not go well. To qualify this negative review, I would first like to say that the electrician who came out was very good. I had used him a year ago and everything was fine. Reasonable cost, great work, etc. So I wanted to use them again They came out and gave me an estimate on two things I wanted prices on.. I told them I could not do both things at the same time, but wanted the exhaust fan done right away. They gave me an estimate. When it came time to do the work, their service Manager Jim (who had done the original estimate) changed the estimate to a much higher price. When I asked why, he said because I wasn't doing both jobs, just one. I thought this was unfair, since he had never said, at the time of the estimate, that if I only had one thing done at a time, the price would be higher - a lot higher. The labor would be twice as much. So, I spoke with their Public Relations Manger, Elise, who got back to me and said they would honor the lower original estimate. When the electrician came out, instead of replacing the entire unit, he cleaned the exhaust fan and put it back. After he left, it started to make a very loud noise and was not taking any air out of the bathroom. So, I let them know that I wanted to go ahead with replacing the entire exhaust fan, heater, light fixture unit. They said they could not schedule me for almost two months out. I agreed, even though I thought this was also unfair to make me wait that long. The day before the work was to be done, I called to confirm both the appt and the agreed upon price. The Service Manager, Jim said he would do it for the agreed upon price. I then asked him if they guaranteed their work. He said they did. So I asked if he would credit the $ I had already paid for work that did not fix the problem. He said he would not. I then spoke with the PR person, Elise, again. She said she would get back to me. They called back later and said they would not do the work at all. Not for the agreed upon price and I quote "We can't honor that hourly rate, we just can't do it for that amount." I reminded her that they had agreed to do it for "that Price" which was their own original estimate. She continued to say the could not honor it. So, after waiting for almost two months to have this work done, they told me they would not honor their word and would not do the work at all. DO NOT USE MERIT ELECTRIC!!!!!!!! THEY USED TO BE A GOOD COMPANY. NOW THEY ARE UNETHICAL. THEY WILL DO A "BAIT AND SWITCH" PRICING ON YOU, DEPENDING ON HOW MUCH WORK YOU DO OR DON'T GIVE THEM. Their Service Manager, Jim , was irritated that he was forced by the PR Manager to honor his original estimate, so, when I had the audacity to ask him to credit back the amount for the work that did not fix the issue, he decided to punish me by not doing the work at all. I was told their owner agreed with him. I believe that If I had been a man, they would have handled this much differently. They are not interested in doing residential work. I am sure they would not treat their corporate clients this way.

Estimate was slightly higher than actual cost. Technicians were capable and prompt.

FABULOUS! The work done was flawless, and Mike was a very pleasant and fun person to have in our home. We got 3 bids before hiring Merit, and Merits was the best price. Great work for a very fair price; you can't beat that! I can't see our ever using anyone else!

They were good. I like those guys, they're real professionals. Everybody's expensive, you just got to pay if you want something done.

Made an initial contact, spoke with Jim. Told him the scope of the work and he informed me immediately that it would take until December (two months) for them to get to this work.

24811I contacted Merrit as per reference from here on Angies List as well as a friend of the family. Informed them of the job I needed done and requested a estimate be done. a man by the name of Jason contacted me on 9/8/15 informed me he could no make it due to family reasons, I was fine with this. However what I am not ok with is when 9/9/15 came around once he heard I had called Mainstream for and alternate bid on the project he told me he would not be showing up at all and hung up in my face.

From the initial quote to installation, Merit Electric was excellent. Jason gave me a great quote and a Veteran's discount. Christopher, the Journeyman Electrician was extremely knowledgeable. I thought an outlet could go in a certain area, but after checking codes, Christopher said no. Thankfully, he found a better location! Matt was his apprentice that day, he will be a great Journeyman in the future. I knew that I had chosen the best Electricians when the inspector came and said, "They did this exactly how it is supposed to be done. I don't usually worry when I am inspecting work done by Merit Electric." That is a great compliment in itself! I will, and have, recommended Merit Electric to my family and neighbors.

They've been amazing. We've had numerous electricians here and Merit was head and shoulders and exceeded all our expectations. Great communication before and during, on time, completed quickly and office personnel and electricians very personable. Pricing has been reasonable and estimates have been accurate. Each time they thought through the work carefully including various options to make sure it was done the best way possible. We highly recommend them!

The man who came out to do my bid was polite and respectful. He listened to all my concerns and answered all my questions clearly. He worked with me to do the job the most efficient and economical way possible. The company was true to their bid even though there were some difficult circumstances with access in an older home. The guy that came to my house was very courteous and professional. They also had sent him in particular because they knew he could get the job done quickly, thus further saving me money. They were kind and gracious of my circumstances, with a disabled child needing the electricity to be off for a minimal amount of time. They took care of calling Avista and for my inspection. The inspector that came out to inspect the work said that they had done a very good job and a a very reasonable price. (He was not affiliated with the company, of course, but did ask who did the work because he was impressed by the good job that they did and the very fair price.) They even provided me a discount in the end. I would definitely use their services again. Sometime in the future I may be doing a kitchen remodel and may need to move some electrical around. I will already know who to call.

I needed to isolate the washing machine on a separate circuit and have the microwave (kitchen on other side of laundry room wall) on its own circuit. I had done the wiring authorized by my electrical permit, but the inspector said it was against code. The short story is the work needed to get done immediately. Merit Electric accommodated me and scheduled the work right away. The two electricians were prompt, pleasant, and courteous. They worked well together and seemed to have fun, too! They understood the situation better than I did and figured out what to do. They went out of their way to do it without opening more wall. They also contacted the inspector to make sure I didn't have to replace all the outlets in the house with the newer "safety" ones (I didn't.) I enjoyed watching them complete the job, and was very happy to have the work done so promptly. The job then passed inspection, and I didn't have to pay the fine. I rated the price as a B, not because I compared it to anyone else, it's just a lot of money to pay.

They did a good job. We're in an old building and retrofitting. We have a new security system and they ran all the wiring for us and Allied Security. We have had a couple problems but they have come right back out and get on it.

We live in an older, 1950's rancher with no lights in our living room. I had hung a chandelier light on a hook in the center of the room with a cord going across the ceiling and down the wall to the outlet. I was never very happy with this situation. Two contractors that I had talked to about it didn't seem to think there were any other options. Brian, from Merit came out to give an estimate and immediately gave me a solution. When the two electricians came out to do the job, one crawled across the ceiling in the crawl space and the other made a hole in the ceiling and fed him the wiring. They connected the wiring to an existing switch in my living room. They also changed the worn outlets in several of my rooms. I'm so thankful to have found the company.

On time. Professional. Curteous. Did exactly what we requested in a very timely manner. Would use them again and highly recommend them to others.

They were recommended by our general contractor. I would give them and A grade on everything. And I would use them again in the future.
