+ -1 moreJim gave me a bid where I paid for the paint myself, and the bill came in exactly as bidded. For some reason he didn't have good experience with Benjamin Moore paint, which is what I usually use, because he said they don't cover as well as Behr or Glidden. He said he would have used BM if I wanted to, but he was just concerned that it would have taken more time and cost me more because of the extra labor. So I went with Ace's Clark & Kensington and Jim was happy with the way it covered. I'm happy with that brand too. Jim Jenkins did the work himself along with one other very responsible worker. We went from a very dark (dark red & green) attic to a bright white room in the middle of summer heat without A/C and they didn't complain once. It took one coat of primer and 2 coats of Clark & Kensington, and almost 3 days. I had no concerns leaving them alone at our home. They were punctual, honest, very reasonable and cordial. The paint job is nearly perfect. I have a very discriminating eye and I can see they missed a 3rd coat on just a couple of spots, but my husband wouldn't have noticed those spots. And, again, I went from a fire engine-red and forest green room, so that has to be expected. Still a great price for the work. I will definitely hire him again for interior and exterior.
Description of Work: Repainted the attic living space. The room was at least 8 different colors, including fire-engine red, forrest green, mustard yellow, goldenrod, deep purple, brownish-grey, country blue, and off-white. Painters painted the 2 upstairs rooms and the stairwell and all trim.

+ -1 moreThe preparation (see above) was meticulous and the finished work is excellent.
Description of Work: Jim Jenkins, the owner, and Ken Scott, his partner, engaged to repaint the kitchen cabinets, walls, and ceiling of our home (which is on The Historic Register). The cabinets had been painted twenty years ago with a semi-gloss enamel (white) and repainted 10 years ago with Sherwin-Williams Duration, also white. The new paint reacted with the original and finger oil and was very sticky in places frequently touched. Mr. Jenkins and Mr. Scott attempted sanding with 220 down to 60 grit without success but took a panel to S-W and were advised to apply a new solution to the painted surfaces which emulsified the Duration and the base paint and both solved the problem and saved scores of hours of what would have been fruitless work. Their ingenuity, persistence, and professional judgment were exceptional. We heartily recommend them.
