Description of Work: Finished the tile work that my son abandoned 2 yrs ago. Couldn't get an FHA creditor to a prove the sale without it finished. Robert did excellant work too! I think he did something else too but I can't remember what it was.

Description of Work: Replaced a toilet. Joe subcontracted a handyman who had a very hard time with our Toto toilet. We purchased a Big Deal. There were many complications with the install. To his credit, Joe did make things right with us after the fact.

Description of Work: The job was to disconnect four sink water lines (two water lines per two sinks) and reconnect the new valves and connection lines that I provided. Each connection was threaded connection, no soldering or any other exotic required. The technician quoted me a price of $200, on top of the purchase price that I paid for plumber services. I refused and wanted my money back. We negotiated. I provided the parts and they installed my parts. The installation was good. But I wouldn't use Joe Farley again.

Description of Work: The overriding problem was that the contractor was totally unprepared for the situations he encountered. Most of the solutions applied might have worked on a wood frame house but I have a concrete block house. | |The bid was $850 plus materials to complete a series of jobs around the house including the removal & refinishing of the surface of a water damaged wall; painting the exterior of the front door; installing weather-stripping on front door; removal and replacing caulk behind a sink; and remounting a simple light fixture. | |The water damaged back wall was completed with the wrong material, drywall mud, and had to be removed and replaced with grout. The contractor did not bill me for the extra work, but the finished surface was definitely not a quality product. Because the work was taking far too long I primarily wanted the contractor out of my house. | |Painting of the exterior door was of pathetic quality and I'm currently having it done properly, i.e. the door is being stripped and refinished. Originally, there was minimal preparation and negligible surface sanding but lots of excuses. Essentially, the work performed was the application of fresh paint directly over old paint. | |Installation of weather-stripping was well beyond the capability of the contractor because of the very unusual nature of the materials involved, a wooden door in a metal frame. The end result was a series of compromises that I subsequently learned had deactivated my alarm system and placed excessive strain on the hinges. | |Replacing the caulk in the lavatory and mounting the light fixture were completed properly. | |Finally, to add insult to injury, I never knew when the contractor was going to show up. Also, I had to loan him my tools for some of the work to be completed.

Description of Work: Repaired leaky faucet (still leaks) didn't seem to know what to do with it. Fixed TP holder (good job) fixed ceiling fan light. Again didn't seem to know what to do - I finally suggested it might be a wire loose or broken - fixed that but charged me $85. I had no idea how much time I was getting for $79 - I believe it was advertised as $200 worth of service. Gentleman who came was nice, I believe a subcontractor not an employee of the company. I made the additional check out to him personally, though he gave me a Farley Construction receipt.

Terrible - There were several times when the contractor's employee didn't show nor call. Then when he finally did - couldn't fix the door - said he had to order a part. Never ordered a part - took the old part to his home and hammered it out. Finally fixed my shower door two weeks later after I called numberous times to him and Joe Farley himself. Joe said he was having a bad time with this employee - he had many complaints. So why send him out if you're trying to get more business?

The electrician who came on the first day was on time, friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. He did a good job on all the projects mentioned above. He had to return the next day because the fan installation was a two-person job. The two workers were great. That is, what they were able to do was done very well. The problem was that I purchased all the fixtures on line, and when we opened boxes it turned out that the company from which I bought the chandelier that was supposed to be hung over my kitchen/family room table turned out to be a lamp rather than a chandelier. The style was correct -- a white upside down artichoke design -- but I had been charged for a chandelier and they sent me a table lamp! When we opened the box that was supposed to contain a chandelier with rectangular pieces of Capiz (shells) hanging from a chrome square. Unfortunately, all the pieces of the chandelier were missing except for the chrome square with the Capiz shells hanging from it. There was no rod from which to hang the square; there was no actual light fixture, nothing to attach it to the ceiling, etc., etc. All the pieces of the wall sconce were actually there, but the crystal that is supposed to hang from the bottom was just glued on and had fallen off. Finally, the metal cage that is supposed to encircle the blades on the fan was missing. Of course, none of these problems were the fault of the workers. It was just my own incredibly back luck. In fact, the situation was so ridiculous, i.e., three out of four fixtures were worthless and one had to be glued together, that the three of us just had to laugh, even though I was taken to the cleaners by the companies from which I had purchased the fan and the light fixtures. Consequently, I did not get the two chandeliers installed, but I did have the fan installed even without the missing cage. I paid the full $600 to Mr. Farley's company, but I was assured by Mr. Farley's electrician that he would come back and complete the job once I got new fixtures with all the appropriate parts. I would definitely use Joe Farley Construction again, but I'll probably never order from the companies from which I purchased the fan or the two chandeliers.
Description of Work: Replaced sconce on hallway wall; replaced light fixture on ceiling of master bath; replaced burnt out fluorescent bulbs in kitchen ceiling fixture; moved a heavy boxed bookcase from living room to outside storage shed; installed part of a fan in the ceiling over the stairwell of my two-story house, and removed a hanging light fixture in the combination kitchen/family room.

Received an email from the company a few days after purchasing the deal. I completed the form giving dates that I would be available for the work to be done. After not hearing back I called and left a message. On 10/13/14 I was contacted by Jeff to schedule the work. When I asked him to clarify how $200 worth of work was measured he told me that it meant $200 would be deducted from a larger job. This is not what I signed up for.

I had a bathtub which was not draining. Jeff came and inspected the problem. His schedule was very full and drains were not his area of expertise. He called another plumber, Pete, who came the next day and was able to get the drain in the bathtub to drain. Both Jeff were very polite, respectful and showed concern for getting the problem fixed in a timely manner.

I purchased this service (for handyman) Sept. 23. I finally emailed this week to find out why I hadn't heard. Joe left a message that he'd been on vacation. When we connected the next day, he said he knew he'd gotten bad reviews. I wasn't calling about that, I just needed the help, but it gave me a clue about his responsiveness. He had me call someone else (I did) who had me call yet another person. I was never able to connect with the third referral because he didn't answer the phone and his voice mail box was full. Tired of the struggle.

I bought the $200 for $79 worth of Handyman Services. I feel as if I wasted money. In my message to them and when I talked to the man they were sending out here I told them exactly what I was wanting done and they sent someone out that knew NOTHING about electrical. He told me before he started that he would install both switches and he would call it even. I thought to myself that $200 to install two switches was a bit over the top. My garage switch did not work properly because I had purchasednd to use with fluorescent light fixtures. I feel he should have known that before he installed it. The front light switch is not working properly either and I double checked the type I bought and it should work just fine. I don't understand why he didn't check that before he left. I went to Lowe's and bought another switch for my garage and I installed and it would perfectly. I really thought that $200 I would be able to get more done than just the installation of two light switches.

Purchased and paid for an and quot;Angies list dealand quot; on Friday 26-Sept-2014. Mr. Farley stated and quot;my guysand quot; will contact you today to schedule the plumbing repairs. THEY DID NOT. A male person contacted us by telephone on Monday, 29-Sept-2014, and stated they left us a message on Friday. THEY DID NOT. Despite inaccurate statement by Mr. Farleys and quot;guysand quot;, we scheduled the repairs to be completed at 1400Hrs. on Tuesday, 30-September-2014, THEY DID NOT SHOW OR CALL. It is now 1100Hrs. on Wednsday, 1-October-2014, and still no contact, The company was very efficient in the taking of our money, however the agreed upon services have NOT been performed and NO contact with us has been made. NO one showed up as scheduled , NO explanation has been offered,There has been NO contact, except as previously described, at all. I now am getting ready to attempt to get my money. back-never an easy chore. I am concerned that they now have my credit card info, my residence address , my schedule , the number of persons living at my address . I have devoted several hours to this incident with nothing but negative results. I am concerned.

My home was burglarized and resulted in many damages. Joe was here initially to repair a damaged entry door and jam. He did a great job on the door, I had him return to complete one more repair. Joe measured the window on a Friday and had it installed the following Monday. In and out in less than an hour. Great work!

I don't normally need any type of construction or service help, but recently I was injured and I'm not quite back on my feet. Anyway, my garbage disposal stopped working and eventually my four kids had the sink and dishwasher clogged, the dishwasher was an old unit and basically needed to be replaced. My decision was to replace the dishwasher and repair the disposal if possible, if not replace both. Of course my first call was to the major department store where I've purchased and have had service almost all my products for the last two decades. I also called several local business that serviced those two items too. I got the same treatment from both. Neither of them seemed to understand that I was injured, and needed accommodation, I could not go get part and model numbers, or take measurements. Each wanted to charge me for a repair visit first and if the repair couldn't be done I had to buy a new item, have it delivered and then reschedule for the installation. A big waste of time and money, would have taken weeks. Desperate for help and accommodation of some kind I went to the web and found a local website called Service Magic that advertised repair service in my area. I typed up a very frustrated and vague request for help. To be honest I didn't expect much but I highlighted my specific needs and asked only those whom could accommodate me to respond. I received a call within an hour or from Joe of Joe Farley Construction. I explained my situation and we made an appointment for the next day, a Saturday. Joe was professional, very polite and understanding of my frustrations. While he fixed the garbage disposal, I picked out a dishwasher from Lowe's online. He verified it was in stock and that it came with everything necessary, then he was off to get it. Within two hours he was back from Lowe's and the new dishwasher and old disposal were working perfectly, and everything was cleaned up. He even took away the old dishwasher for me. Now that's service!! I'm know I paid way less then anyone else would have charged me. I'm extremely happy with the service! I'm positive I will use Joe's services in the future. I didn't realize I would be asked I what was charged but just to be clear that price included my new dishwasher, and I didn't pick a cheap one!
Description of Work: Unclogged garbage disposal, sink and dishwasher. Repaired garbage disposal. Removed old dishwasher and disposed off it. Immediately picked up my new dishwasher (of my choice-no mark up) and installed it. Cleaned up.

Joe originally scheduled the work for 9:00 am that day. Due to charitable obligations, Joe had to reschedule his morning time slot to 11:00 am, which he called way ahead of time for my approval (which I had no problem with). He arrived promptly bringing his sidekick (Julius). Julius originally arrived during the estimate and I was okay with him coming back for the actual work. Joe took his time completing the task (3.25 hrs) resulting with excellent quality work. He cleaned up the work area afterwards and also hauled away the damaged door. Would I refer him to other people? Absolutely! Just be sure to meet his sidekick Julius...

PERFECT! He came on time with everything he needed to complete the job in one visit. He worked the entire time and cleaned up very well after each installation. He left absolutely no remanence of his visit! Very friendly and courteous.
Description of Work: Installed a new bedroom door from a blank, requiring him to drill holes, fit, attach hinges and doorknobs. Also installed a new back-exit door which had been incorrectly ordered. The door was meant to be a "blank" but the place we ordered it from sent us a pre-hung door. Joe had to fit the incorrect door into the existing frame requiring shaving and refitting the hinges, doorknobs and dead bolt.
