Called a different plumber and got it done for $300 Previous remodel related work OK, but prices always astronomical

I chose to use them because I know of them through the home builders association here in town years ago. I think they used to be members to that. That was like twenty years ago and they had good reputation back then. So, I remembered the name when I saw it. I did have one problem with them and that had to do with the permit. They got a permit and I did not know that I needed to call for an inspection after they were finished. So, last December I got a letter from the city saying that there was this outstanding permit that needed to be resolved. They should have communicated that to me as a home owner that I needed to call and get that inspected after they completed the work. They did not tell me that so I never did it. That was an issue for me. I was not able to resolve it. I did not respond to the city and nothing ever happened, but I was not happy that I was getting a letter from the city. I would not probably use them again because of the permit issue, but the work was good. So, maybe I would use them again. It would depend on what needs to be done.

The technician looked to see if the outside exhaust vent was blocked and took off the small metal access panel covering the burner. Then demonstrated how to reignite the burner which worked for a few minutes and then snuffed out. He explained that this 12 year old heater could possibly be repaired with a new $500 electronic controller. He asked if I would like a replacement estimate which I did. The estimate was about $3000 for a gas water heater installed. I asked about an electric water heater which would cost about $1200 installed plus the addition on a new circuit not included. I thanked the technician for his time and called another referred service. The other service came the next day and worked on the water heater for an hour charging $90. They left the cover off the burner to keep the burner from going out. They reassured me this was perfectly safe. The heater has been working since then - May 6th about 2 weeks. Of course I hope this fix lasts as long as possible but if not I have some decisions to make.

They were expensive than everyone else. The work was really good. They guarantee their work and they are very friendly. They are very good. It is a family owned business and they have been there from a long time. I wanted the work to be done right away. They came out the same day.

Plumber was OK however he was not able to explain the problems well. The charge was outrageous. They charge $177.00 and hour, including time spent driving her.

A great experience. The plumber was here for over 3 hours and made sure everything was exactly right. He ran into unexpected trouble with what started to be a faucet repair and explained everything very carefully. I ended up replacing the faucet. Gold Seal is more expensive than the local handyman, but the was SO thorough and professional that I personally find it worth the money. Plumbing is an area that my husband and I need "hand-holding" and Gold Seal provided that.

I had a problem with a bathroom toilet (40 yrs old!) that was continually running and a slight leak around the base. Gold Seal was very flexible in setting up an appointment and changing it at the last minute to meet my schedule. We agreed to do that and the work proceeded quickly. He said there was no damage to the underlying floor and installed the new unit. We've been very happy with it. After a couple or weeks it seemed to be refilling the tank every 10-15 minutes. Gold Seal was quick to respond and stopped by to make some adjustments. They pointed out that there was a one-year warranty on the work and to be sure and call if there were any problems. All in all, a very successful repair job.

It went well. It was a small job that seemed to defeat others. It was fixed quickly and reasonably.

He put on a different drainage thing and he said I needed an air pipe. So he put one on and now the sink and the bathtub both gurgle. When you flush toilet all the water goes out and the bowl is dry afterward with no water in it.

The plumbers have consistently been professional and competent.

Discovered a frozen pipe in the laundry room. Researched Angie's List and called (3) plumbing businesses. Gold Seal Plumbing was able to respond within 4-6 hours of our call, so we went with them. Drew arrived, reviewed the situation and was able to unfreeze the blockage. Based on the current freeze situation, we felt this was the best response time...most businesses were so busy it would have been the following day/evening before they could come out to fix the problem. Overall the experience with Gold Seal Plumbing met our expectations.

I own a house that I rent to my daughter. The house is a typical house in the Shadle area built in the late 1940's. My daughter called and said that the basement was flooding so I bought her over my shop vac and called her a plumber. I called Gold Seal Plumbing. I've had good experiece with them in the past. The woman on the phone was very polite and courteous. I asked how much they charged for service calls and what their hourly rate was and she said that they worked by the job. I told her to send someone out and call me when they looked at the job. They arrived around the time expected and called me. The job was simple; root out the line in the basement. It had been done previously and I wasn't surprised that it needed to be done again. The plumber said it would cost $700 to do the job, this is with a discount coupon for being retired military. I about fell off my chair. Seven hundred dollars to snake a line. The plumber said that they would have to bring in a heavy machine and would take two to three hours to do the job. Against my better judgement I authorized them to do the work. They finished in less than two hours and called and left me a message that it was all done. They were prompt and professional but $700!!! It is entirely my fault for authorizing the work. I think that the job should have been done for about a third of the price. The lesson is don't be afraid to decline services and get another quote even if it is a job that you need done promptly.

Technician was professional and polite. Explained my problem. He spent a few minutes with his workbook, and told me the job estimate was $400. I told him that the job usually took less than an hour to perform. He said it would still be $400. I thanked him for the estimate, and again he was very professional an polite. I called another company (had to wait a day for an appointment) and they charged $65 and tax. I loved the Gold Seal customer service, but did not like their prices.

I had a suspected toilet leak in the powder room and called Gold Seal to pull the toilet, inspect for a leak, and then reset toilet with new wax seal. They were easy to schedule and arrived at predetermined time, however they use a "workbook" method that bills you by what they claim are "average" times to do a specific job, instead of hourly as most plumbers do. As such the estimated cost to do the above, which an experienced plumber should be able to do in less than 30 minutes, was $342.59!!! I declined their services and proceeded to pull the toilet myself in less than 3 minutes. Additionally, while the plumber they sent out did use shoe covers when entering my house, he proceeded roughly toss his dirty, hard, and scratchy "workbook" and metal billing clipboard on the painted millwork of my staircase, scraping the clipboard along my wall and damaging it in the process. I would not use this company as their price structure is ridiculous--customers should be billed for the amount of time something actually takes and not overcharged by artificially inflated "national averages" for various jobs. In this case I would have been charged essentially 5 hours of time for a job that should have taken no more than 30 minutes!!

Service was prompt and clearly explained, including prices. Work was neat and efficient, including post-job clean-up. Made a corrective change in the bathroom sink faucet (which I had previously installed backwards!) at no extra charge - a delightful attention to detail!

Excellent workmanship with outstanding follow up. Not only did they install, but gave great recommendations and insight on what to look for in researching high quality parts. After doing my due diligence looking for fixtures online and at Major Big Box DIY stores, Gold Seal was able to order what I wanted for less money, Big Plus! It is not often I feel a company was looking out for my best interest, but Gold Seal delivered!

We were very pleased with both services. They were prompt, efficient, knew what they were doing and did a great job both with the installation of the hot water heater and the outside faucets

He said he would charge $134.05 to replace a simple gasket for one of our faucets. Then he wanted to charge $360.83 to replace the other faucet. Then, he tried to charge an additional $95 for a "membership fee." He said I would have to pay this and I'd get 10% off. Ridiculous! And, he won't do the work unless you give him that extra $95.

It went well. No more problems, so far.

Provided same day service. Very professional service,evaluated job and provided written estimate. Overall, I was pleased with the plumbers performance and attention to detail.

They are always on time and their price seems to be reasonable. There had been a leak in the upstairs shower into the laundry rooms and they came out and rather than tearing everything out to put in a new shower, they simply fixed what was wrong it has been working fine.

Very happy with my service. Not completely please with the quality of the replacement toilet handle. Seems to jangle like it is cheap even though it was tightened down. It is very functional though.
