Mr. Christiansen being the contractor was hardly on the job. He hires mostly inexperienced young college age boys. He 'may' show up once during the day to see the progress and bark out instructions; otherwise he was a full time employee for Central PreMix and delivered concrete during the day to other jobs for that company. When my job was completed it was aesthetically nice looking; but I was skeptical of the filled dirt sinking because the workers did not compact the dirt with the proper equipment. I told Dan about my concern and he sort of brushed it off saying his work was done within the correct specifications needed and was good as it was (I disagreed). He was paid in cash/check and at that time but didn't have my invoice on him and said he would get it to me. He also still needed to finish the painting and replacement of the siding. It has never been done. It took me several weeks to get an invoice out of him. About a week later I had a welder come out to look at the railing that was re-installed on one side of the porch. I felt that it was not to regulation and was too low. I was right. I had to redo the railing to the proper height. That cost me another $975.00. Mr. Christiansen did not redo the welding job. I have since called him more than once about my concern that my front yard was sinking. He came out once to look at it and that is when I pointed out that the front porch was cracking away from the walkway. He said that it could be fixed and he would come back after I checked with the plumber to see if there was any more water leakage from the pipe installation. I didn't want it FIXED, I wanted it replaced correctly. I had the plumber return and the pipe installation rechecked and certified. NO LEAKS. I was informed by several people that the dirt that was replaced back into the over eight foot by fifteen foot trench should have been properly compacted when the dirt was filled in. It never was. I was home every day of the job and documented the work with many photos on a daily basis. I never heard another word from Mr Christiansen. He has not returned to even try to fix the job as he said he would. I now have to replace the front porch and the walkway as it has sunk at least two to three inches cracking the walkway in three to four different places as well as the border concrete and the original planter on one side. The wrought iron railing that I had redone and paid close to a thousand dollars more for has pulled away from the house and is close to coming entirely free of the wall. The sprinklers were improperly installed. Whereas they were in my planters prior; now they are not and I have to water the planter area by hand now as the sprinkler heads do not reach correctly. In finalizing...I am one UNHAPPY HOMEOWNER! DC Concrete botched the job horribly and now I hate to even look at the front of my house. One last note....I ran into one of the boys that worked on the job of which I asked him to let Dan C. know of my disappointment...the kid told me that Dan Christiansen said .... quote "too bad, that's her problem". We shall see...I am still checking into what my recourse can be. DO NOT USE D C CONCRETE!!!! EVER.....
Description of Work: This contractor was the replacement contractor for my first botched job from a Chris Seagroves Construction. DC Concrete (Dan Christiansen) bragged about what a great job he would do for me to replace and repair the former job. I knew Mr Christiansen from doing a job for my next door neighbors and another friend. The work he did for them was nicely done. I had a main water line break. DC Concrete regraded the whole front yard and replaced the walkway and entire front porch to include wrought iron railing. They replaced the sprinkler system and completely re-landscaped the yard with new sod lawn. There was also repair work to front of house to include painting, replacing some siding that was damaged when porch was removed.
