Description of Work: Completely re landscape the Rear Yard including Sprinkler System Lighting Scheme for Trees and Shrubs an Waterfall and Pond and Automatic controls for everything.

Description of Work: Extensive hardscaping with blocks & pavers. They removed an old front porch and built a new porch using pavers & blocks, removed and replaced the old walkway and enlarged it to include more patio space. On the opposite side of our house they had to dig out a slope of rocky rubble, rotted railroad ties, old collapsed stairs and an enormous tree stump. They built a block retaining wall and topped it with a very large patio area that connects to the house on one side. Matching block, top caps & pavers were used throughout the entire project and as you are able to see both sides of the house from the front it creates an attractive flow and gives it nice continuity.

Description of Work: Alderwood re-did our large backyard this summer. They re-graded, installed landscape rocks, put down pavers for a large patio, prepped a site for a new shed, put down sod and plants. They contracted out the construction of an outdoor living area and a new fence. Overall we are happy with the look of our new backyard. I was unhappy that none of the plants I wanted to save and reuse died because they weren't watered when Alderwood was doing other jobs and not at our property. Also, the plantings they did aren't really my style. I had many specimen plants I wanted used but only a few were. Mainly I have boring, in my opinion, mainstream plants. I plan to re-plant much of what was done. Based on the cost of the plants that were purchased for me, this is significant. Also, some of the special plants I had which were used were incorrectly placed (dwarf specimens put in the rear of planting beds - ???). The workers were all professional and nice to work with. We will consider using Alderwood again when we are ready to do our front yard. If we do choose them for that work, I will be sure to be more involved with the plantings and not allow anything to be planted until I've had time to look it over.

Description of Work: We built our home in 1981 and after raising our family decided to make our outdoor "dream landscaping" come true. The professional team at Alderwood Landscaping exceeded our expectations in creating a beautifully inviting patio, leading to a northwest natural water feature and fire pit. If that were not enough to our amazement the team at Alderwood Landscaping proved to us that our major outdoor project could be accomplished in the middle of winter, on time and on budget! Our hobby continues to be our home and garden and visiting gardens getting ideas for our own landscaping is how we spend free time. Over the years we have a long list of don't want's and have developed a critical eye for landscaping projects that look man-made or have an unnatural feel. We knew we wanted our dream water feature, fire pit, patio and pathways to not only be beautiful but also we wanted the space to compliment the natural contours of our outdoor space. Although the pricing through Alderwood is higher than most available options, so is their quality and end result. As mentioned above, we have been anticipating this value-added and enjoyable feature for our home for some 30 years. We didn't want to compromise and a do-over or living with something less than anticipated was not a good option. Instead, we have a feature that has exceeded our expectations. Their customer service/response has been excellent...returning e mails and phone calls quickly and calling us on intervals inquiring if all is good and asking if we have any process questions. With our recent weather, much of their labor has involved mud...they show up...work hard...and handle all with a smile. We are impressed with their work ethic and positive attitude. We are a happy customer and are referring Alderwood Landscaping to our friends.

Description of Work: As a new homeowner with an overgrown yard and several do-it-yourself projects left incomplete by the previous occupants, we found ourselves overwhelmed and unsure of what to do. We contacted Alderwood Landscaping to produce architectural drawings and an estimate. After our ideas changed in the process and a few rounds of small redesign with the design team, we agreed on a plan. The bid was well laid out and noted many options for potential upgrades, as well as options we might want to wait on or eliminate to fit our budget range. We decided to invite Alderwood onto our property and have the work installed over the following two years. The backyard phase included a deck replacement with staircase addition, boulder retaining wall with stairs, raised vegetable garden, irrigation system, edging, plantings, concrete paver walkways, and lawn replacement. During the second phase (complete front yard remodel) we choose to upgrade the entire yard with night lighting. Both the front and back yard have a life of their own at night, and a soft presence from the street. We can now enjoy our front and backyard instead of loathing our time outside; our dog loves it too!

Description of Work: I had Alderwood design the backyard as I wanted. It was my intent to have them follow through with the project. I put the project out for bid with 3 companies. Their bid was nowhere near the costs of the other companies. The greatest disappointment to me was their apparent lack of interest in the project. I had contact with the designer, other than that I never had any contact with anyone else from the company. They responded to questions when asked but took no initiative to make me believe that they wanted this contract. All of the other companies really made me feel like this was a project they wanted to participate in.
