Description of Work: Tim is a very nice man. He performed all the small jobs I asked him to and to date everything is in working order. I had to wait a while...like 2 months to have him come for one day but it was worth it.

Tim went above and beyond. I feel very fortunate that we found him to help us during this crisis. He not only did an excellent job with texturing and staining, he was conscious of our costs and let us buy all the materials needed to save money. He was great at communicating with us about all the stages of the job. He took our baseboards home with him to stain and clean off all the previous paint to get them looking brand new. He also recut a door for us when the new carpet was installed and the door no longer closed. The only down side is that he is very busy, but after this positive experience I would just get on the waiting list for him to do my next home repair project.
Description of Work: Repairs after a basement flood. Re-sheet rocked, textured, painted damaged walls. Restained baseboards. Built and stained to match a wet bar. Laid tile for the wet bar.

This review in short form: When Tim Adair came to do an estimate for remodeling a bathroom in our home, he told me he's dedicated to satisfying his customers. Talk's cheap; results are what counts, and Tim delivered. In spades.Details follow. Tim Adair has a wealth of experience and good ideas. Tell him what you want and he will make it happen. Get into an area of your project where you're uncertain about the best way to proceed and he will offer alternatives, possibly including ones you hadn't thought of. If in doubt and you follow his suggestions, you will in all likelihood be glad you did, as we were. A remodeling project brings a certain amount of disruption to your home and your life. Tim is impressively good at minimizing the impact. He plans his moves. He lays fresh runners before the start of each work day, brings in the tools and materials he will need that day and removes most of them at the end of the day. There's little stockpiling in your midst. He also works cleanly and neatly. In our experience, any job that involves ripping out and replacing wall board inevitably means clouds of chalky dust and chalk bits will spread well out from the immediate work area. The degree to which Tim minimized that was remarkable. It was also greatly appreciated. I saw how he put in vapor barrier and insulation. It was all neat and straight, no sags, no gaps, nothing uneven. Tim takes ownership of a project, in the sense that he doesn't just work over and around things done in the past that aren't quite right. Instead, he fixes or replaces them so they are right. In our project he did that with a soffitt that wasn't precisely plumb and square. He straightened out some awkward pipe work behind the wall and, unlike whoever put that piping in, secured the new pipe properly to studs. He replaced some old plumbing parts that worked but could become a liability if left in place. Tim also straightened out some questionable wiring. These were mostly things that wouldn't show but could lead to problems later on. Satisfying the customer includes not leaving behind potentially unpleasant surprises that could crop up weeks or months after the job is done, so Tim takes care of them. Tim's wall board finishing and tiling exhibit the same care and skill. Both turned out great. We went shopping for a ready-made vanity and medicine chest. Some were good looking but not a good fit for our space. Most of the ones we saw were thin veneer over particle board. Tim said that if we preferred he could build what we wanted in the size we needed. Photos of cabinetry he has created for others looked more appealing than the ready-made kind, so we had him build ours in the style of those in our other bathrooms. Tim built us a vanity, medicine chest and free-standing linen closet. They are all wood, solidly made, very nicely finished and look terrific. How to better heat the bathroom was an area of uncertainty where we went with Tim's suggestion, He installed an in-floor heating system. Though not inexpensive, it's exactly what was needed in this bathroom. The system provides perfectly even heating and is very effective, both where comfort and helping to eliminate residual moisture are concerned. Throughout our project Tim was considerate, pleasant and comfortable to have in our home. His daily and end-of-job cleanups were excellent. We couldn't be more satisfied with our new bathroom, and wouldn't hesitate to hire Tim again ? something we seem to have in common with all his customers. Tim makes it his business to satisfy, and his positive reviews make clear how good he is at doing just that.
Description of Work: Remodeled bathroom, designed and built vanity, cabinets, and installed in-floor heat system
We have waited 25 years to find a contractor as good as Tim Adair. He is 100% trustworthy (he has keys to our home) and his work is outstanding. When you first meet, Tim will ask about your project and work with you on materials and finishes. He knows the best people and places to go for great materials and is quite happy for you to seek them out for yourself (no contractor markups). His no pressure advice on every aspect of our remodel(s) was invaluable. Tim is completely comfortable with every aspect of remodeling - plumbing, tiling, electrical, cabinet installation, lighting, granite etc. In our kitchen remodel Tim matched the stains on our cabinets for a new larder and baseboards. Everything matches, everything lines up and everything works. Our kitchen designer mismeasured and ordered the wrong cabinets. Tim was completely unfazed and worked with us and her to find a workaround and the result is fantastic. I recently had a serious accident that stopped my doing some finishing painting and Tim stepped in and worked his weekend so everything would be done. His son even came and cut my grass! Yes, he is that good.
Description of Work: Tim has completely remodeled two bathrooms and a kitchen, put a hardwood floor down in a bedroom and hallway and repainted the interior of our home.

Just fine. Two other neighbors on our street also have contracted his work
Description of Work: New shower tile, pan, surrounding sheet rock. New bathroom floor tile, installation of toilet. Only one complaint - while he always stayed within his own labor estimates, his estimates of the material cost of things WE had to go get were always too low.

Tim did an excellent job with this bathroom. There were a few challanges that he was able to come up with some very good solutions. I did all of the design and ordering - with a few issues because i am not a contractor - and Tim put it all together, working with me to figure out how to do what i wanted done. The room came out wonderfully - I am happy!!

Tim showed up as promised to do the estimate, scheduled the jobs to be done to fit my schedule and was on the job precisely on time each day until completed. He worked well into the evening to get us back up and running in the kitchen as soon as possible. He was fun and easy to have around, went to great lengths to block the dust and debris from the rest of the house and cleaned up completely at the end of each day. He worked in extreme heat and tight places with great humor and offered suggestions that resulted in an improvement over my original plan. I recommended him to a very picky friend wanting a complete kitchen & bath remodel and she was completely pleased with the results. Dogs and kids love Tim, too.
Description of Work: Removed & installed new counter tops, framed & hung a new door.

We called Tim to ask him to estimate how much it would cost to build closets in a bedroom and den. He came out and examined our work area, discussed several design options, and then gave us an estimate. He had to do some extra research on where to find wood doors that would match the existing den doors, and based on that, he had to revise his estimate at a slightly higher cost before he started the work, but he had advised us of this possibility at the time of the original estimate. After asking him to proceed, he prepared the bedrooms, carefully laying out protective plastic and tenting to make sure the rest of the rooms and house were protected from the dust and dirt of the construction. He always laid out tarps to protect the hardwood floor that he had to walk on to get to his truck. We appreciated this careful attention to detail. Tim matched the style and construction of both closets to the existing features of the room, so the new construction looks seamless. Tim is a one-man show, which is great because you can rely on a consistent high standard for craftsmanship, quality, honesty and cleanliness. He doesn't smoke and is always very respectful of your home. As he is always in high demand, he usually has more than one job going, so you should plan to be somewhat flexible in your scheduling. That being said, he often worked late and on weekends to get the job done for us in a timely manner. I would and will hire Tim again for any repair and remodel needs in our home.
Description of Work: -Designed and built closets in a bedroom and a den-Added a wooden built-in desk, shelves, and drawers next to the new closet-Added a light with a switch to the new wall he was building with the closet so that the built-in desk would have easy lighting access

Description of Work: Tim was great to work with! We added a kitchen in my home for my Mother in Law on a budget. Essentially she now has a complete apartment. We bought the cabinets at a large box store. Tim installed them, built counter tops and completed the necessary plumbing and electrical. He also put in a nice laminated floor. He was very neat and organized and there were no hidden costs. He completed the job on the date promised. Very professional and takes great pride in the details. B2

We purchased a new home, and several months after moving in, we noticed a crack in the tile covering a bench in our large master bath walk-in shower. Tim was able to expertly diagnose the extent the problem, and give a solid estimate as to the most cost-effective approach to fixing it. This involved tearing out the shower tile floor and bench, rebuilding the floor surface, sealing the entire floor surface and walls, rebuilding the bench, and then re-tiling the shower floor and bench. It was an extensive project and the tile work was very advanced and tricky work. Tim squeezed us into his already busy schedule, and did a great job of matching the existing tile work and grout. He created a nice slope to the bench and floor to ensure proper drainage, and restored the shower to like new condition. He was very careful about cleanup. He was very polite and respectful. He did not smoke, which was a bonus. I highly recommend Tim Adair for handyman and home remodeling work.
Description of Work: He diagnosed a leaking and rot problem in our large tiled, walk-in master bath shower; he provided a solid estimate for the most cost-effective and efficient way to not only correct the problem but improve the shower drainage and functionality; he tore out the tile floor, bench, and part of the walls, removed rotting wood, replaced and rebuilt the shower floor and bench, installed a new concrete sloped floor, and installed new tiling (carefully matched to the existing tile) to the affected areas.

He was fine but we decided not to go with him. It took him about 3 weeks to come back with an estimate, which did seem to be quite long. He was not very responsive either. We told him our deadline and he wouldn?t agree to it but he continued. He canceled out on us twice before he finally came out. My mother told me that when he finally called to give the estimate, he was a bit rude to her. He was upset that she hadn?t called him - it was 3 weeks out and so she thought she wasn?t going to hear from him. We had two other estimates and they came back within 4 days. He seemed very knowledgeable. I just wish he had understood our timeline and bowed out if he couldn?t have done it right then. If he would have done the job, I?m sure he would have done fine.
Description of Work: I got an estimate from Tim Adair to do a kitchen addition onto the house for my mother.
I am very happy with the work that he did. He is very versatile and does a wonderful job.
Description of Work: He repaired electrical work, installed doors, and installed linoleum baseboards. He also restored the trim work on the counters. He also installed closet doors.
