They were great. They were on time, did great work, and cleaned up when they were done. I would recommend them.

The company is great, Ryan does a great job. Ryan is responsive, shows up when he says he's going to, and charges exactly what he says he will. We started working with Ryan five-six years ago and we feel like his work is done exactly the way we want it. I would recommend him.

It was great, they were very efficient, professional, and courteous. They got the job done when they said they were going to get it doe, and the work was high quality. I would recommend them.

They were nice, had ideas. Price was high compared to other estimates, and the written estimate was shockingly higher than the rough verbal estimate.. I think they are used to working with higher-priced clients. They weren't the best at getting back to me...had to call them twice to get the bid.

After interviewing three contractors, I chose Ryan (owner of J&R) because we had a good rapport, he offered the best suggestions on project specifics, and he was willing to negotiate price (some) and payment schedule. He and his team (Reese, Jake, Andrew) were quite knowledgeable and professional, and open to my questions and requests. Ryan let me purchase additional yards of soil beyond what was needed for the project, at his cost, and had his guys spread it for me - very nice. Once the project was done, I discovered a few loose ends, and they were quick to come back and take care of them. The finished retaining wall and leveled yard look great, although I'm not thrilled with the steps (see below). Overall, a good experience, and I would probably hire J&R again or recommend them to others. That said, there were a few bumps along the way, some of which are normal for a construction project but others seemed avoidable. - The project estimate was 8-10 days but ran into a third week. One problem was they didn't reserve the equipment they needed to get started, which caused a 3-day delay. But even when all the equipment and materials were there, they worked short days. The first week, very little got done, nobody was there more than a couple hours a day. The second week, they only worked 3-5 hours a day - until the end of the week, when the project should be complete, but was only half done, so they started working more. But not once was there an 8-hour day. The project would have been completed sooner with more productive days. As a project manager myself, I found this annoying, esp. when the extra days impacted my personal life and business. - They didn't talk to me about how the stairs would be laid down the hillside, and I'm not pleased with the result. Not what I expected, and I hope I don't scrape my legs or trip down them. My older, existing stairs at the other end of the wall may not look as nice but are more functional than the new, $1000 steps. - The finish and cleanup was incomplete. They didn't properly finish the end of the wall (capstones), they dumped green waste and leftover gravel in inappropriate locations, and they left part of my lawn (their staging area) a mess - gravel and debris, damaged areas. This necessitated a return visit the following week to address these issues, which were then completed to my satisfaction.

The challenge with this situation was that the Angie's List consultation offer for J&R Landscape failed to include that they only serve a certain area on the Eastside. After I bought the offer and was in touch with J&R Landscape's owner, Ryan, he noted the error and said it would be difficult for them to travel all the way to my neighborhood in Seattle. And yet -- they did! Ryan said "a deal is a deal" and they would honor what Angie's List had offered. Ryan and Andrea W. were first-class professional in everything. Andrea's advice and suggestions for how to improve my landscape, and what rockery design would be best for my location -- it was perfect. I have not yet done the rockery in the backyard, but I took to heart all her suggestions for the front yard, and it looks so much better. I would hire J&R Landscape in a heartbeat -- especially if I lived on the Eastside.

the consultant who came out was fine. i received one sketch however, there was no key explaining the different symbols on the sketch. the only clear thing was the walk way i requested. when i asked about pricing, she told me she was only the artist and that she would pass my questions on to the actual Landscaping company.. who i have never heard from

Excellent! They explained why I could not get grass to grow well in my backyard: once they excavated, the soil contained lots of compact clay and rock, causing seeds to drown from watering. Once we locked in a date, they knocked it out relatively quickly, and gave me instructions on how to maintain the artificial grass going forward. The cost was very reasonable in comparison to the quotes I received from other contractors, and they did not charge me for leftover artificial grass, which they could have done. I recommend J&R Rockscapes without reservation!

EXCELLENT! Great and complete design...I have implemented the entire plan and my gardens are beautiful. The types of plants recommend were moderate in price and had several different plants recommended for the same spot. I would highly recommended them.

After a rocky start scheduling the appointment, the designer made and kept an appointment with me. Overall I was quite pleased with her work.

This review is long over due but a year later we are still so happy with our retaining walls. The crew was on time, friendly, and pleasant to have around. They were super flexible in making sure the wall was exactly how we wanted it. I would hire them again in a heartbeat and am already finding new places we just might need a wall :)

He did a very fine job of getting the huge 6-foot high granite piece to our home and in placing it beautifully in our garden where it continues to radiate an epiphanic brilliance. Well done!

Ryan and crew came to our home for a fairly big job. Pull tree stumps, grade yard, transplant bushes and shrubs and install 8 cycle sprinkler system and install fire pit. We couldn't have been happier as Ryan and crew were very punctual and very friendly to work with. I would and have recommended them!

J&R are absolutely master craftsman at patio, walls, decking and lighting. They were professional from day 1, even when we flipped back and forth on some decisions, and we ended up with a superb back yard. I love my back yard so much now - before it was so pathetic and small and swampy. They built true to design, made sure the draining and grading was perfect, made the back yard functional and beautiful. Our kids are now loving it and we can actually have people come over now. I really love how they are so dedicated to getting it absolutely perfect for us. I would and will use them for all my landscaping work in the future. It's just not worth the hassle of working with someone else who is not as professional, late, or require constant supervision. I trusted J&R Rockscapes with my life savings and it was well worth it. I highly recommend them if you want a perfect job done by the most customer-obsessed service provider in this segment.

Overall went well. Ryan was quick to respond to emails as we developed the plan for the backyard. The crew that did the work was polite and professional We're pleased with the overall result at this time.

His crew did great work and were also pleasant to have around - it was great to have people working here who seemed interested in the work and project. They did an exceptional job. They were very pleasant and efficient. They installed more than the contracted crush rocks to make sure the surface was level.They did not charge us for the extra loads. The yard looks great. We are very pleased with the final product.

Working with Joe, Ryan and the whole J&R Rockscapes team was a great experience. Ryan replaced our old wooden steps with new stone steps on our slope. The job was difficult due many up and downs. He provided us with pics of were the landscape lights crossed the steps so we know where to find them in the future. We were very happy with the outcome and would use Ryan again.
