When we bought our house we were told by our home inspector that our chimney flue tiles were cracked and the chimney should not be used. I had called RC Masonry for a quote to see how much it would cost to repair the tiles. They set up an appointment and Robert came out to check the job. Robert called the morning of letting me know that he would be to my house at the proper time. He came out and discussed our options for getting our fireplace up and running again. He let me know that it would be really expensive to repair the tiles and recommended getting a insert. He let me know the heating benefits of getting an insert verses repairing our fireplace. This impressed me as their company doesn't handle inserts (Even though they wouldn't get the business he was being honest and wanting to make the best of the situation at hand.) and recommended some fireplace stores to check out. While he was at our place he noticed that our chimney had moss on it and gave me a quote to get it cleaned and sealed to help protect it. He also explained that they wouldn't do it now and we had to wait until the weather was nicer so they sealant would actually work. Robert could have discussed our fireplace issue over the phone with me but instead drove all the way out to our place and talked to me in person. I was pleased with his professional demeanor and honesty. We will keep them in mind when it comes time to clean and seal our chimney.

We requested a quote of the chimney, both inside and outside of the house. The result was a very detailed quote - complete explanation of why there was water entering the house around the fireplace area, near the ceiling. The chimney cap was cracked among other things. The only disappointment was with the quote, as we had hoped it to be a little less. Otherwise, Robert was very professional and prompt in all the work of getting us the quote.

For two years, we've been trying to solve the mystery of the leak in our upstairs bedroom. We tried roofers, siding repair, even a chimney repair company from Groupon (big mistake). RC Masonry immediately diagnosed the problem and fixed it, and went the extra mile when we had issues with our satellite TV dish. They are friendly, enthusiastic, reasonably priced and professional. Our neighbors hired them to fix their chimney when they saw ours.
Description of Work: Rebuilt the chimney, recommended we install a chimney liner.

The overall job done by Mr. Cashdoller was very professional and the final clean up was thorough and complete. I could not ask for anything better.
Description of Work: I needed work done on my fireplace to get it ready for a gas insert. After the great experience I had with Robert Cashdollar of RCMasonry from previous work, I called Mr. Cashdollar for this work. Mr. Cashdollar arrived at the scheduled time and immediately went to work. Although this was a very difficult job, Mr Cashdollar completed the job with great professionalism and in a minimum amount of time. The overall clean up was thorough and complete. I was very satisfied with the overall work done by Mr. Cashdollar and I would not hesitate to call him for any future work. Thanks Robert for a great job done.

I was completely satisfied with the work done by Robert Cashdollar and RC Masonry. Mr. Cashdollar went out of his way to remove a very dangerous situation on my property and save me a lot of money. The work was done very efficiently and very professionally. I can now rest peacefully knowing a dangerous situation has been removed from my property. Because of the dangerous situation, Mr. Cashdollar could have taken advantage of me, I am a senior citizen, but he did a very responsible job in a very professional manner at what I feel was a very reasonable price. I would not hesitate to have Mr. Cashdollar do future work for me. Thank You - Robert - great job.
Description of Work: I had a severe and dangerous problem develop on the 30 foot chimney on the side of my home. Immediate removal of the chimney was necessary to prevent extensive damage to my home. Because of results on Angie's List I contacted RC Masonry. Mr. Robert Cashdollar stopped by to check the damage and recommend a solution. Mr. Cashdollar indicated the chimney must be completely taken down to prevent extensive damage to my home. Even though he was booked up he indicated he would try to fit my job in as soon as possible. Late the next day he called and indicated he could stop by the next day and take down the chimney. Early in the morning he and an assistant arrived and immediately went to work. They set up a scaffold and the chimney was carefully reduced brick by brick. By mid afternoon the chimney was completely taken down.

Robert told me he was booked solid but would stop by and take a look on his way home. He stopped by later that afternoon and said it would be an easy fix and could possibly stop by on Saturday morning and take care of it. The next day he called and said he managed to squeeze us in and would be by in a half hour. They completed the job in a thoroughly professional manner and exactly as we needed it to be.
Description of Work: We had some emergency masonry work that needed to be done in a timely manner so that our new gutters could be installed. Some bricks had to be broken out of our exterior wall so our old gutters could be removed. Robert and his crew replaced the needed bricks and also re-mortared some bricks on the top of one of our pedestal lights in the driveway.

I had contacted RC Masonry in the spring to do a chimney replacement. Their busy schedule kept them from doing the work on my chimney for several months, but once their calendar had cleared our work was put on their schedule and they kept pretty much to schedule. Robert was very professional, kept appointments, and was thorough in his work and clean up. I think there were 3 or 4 visits to get the job done. One to demo the existing chimney, two visits to rebuild the chimney, which included some additional time to replace some flue liners that were cracked. After completion of the chimney, there was another visit for a final check and sealing of the brick work. The chimney cap was delayed several weeks as the supplier for the cap had some problems with parts or material. When the chimney cap was installed, I was glad that Robert recommended it, as it will protect the chimney from the elements very well.

good experience. Robert and his team did a great job. Robert worked with us on identifying our needs...we were installing an insert and needed the chimney repaired prior to install. Once the work began he suggested we did not need to have some of the work done on the original bid, saving us hundreds of dollars. This team knows what they are doing and do it well. I would absolutely use them again and would highly recommend them.

He answered my call promptly. Was on time and a wealth of information.
Description of Work: Had Rob (the owner) come out and give me advice and estimate on front entranceway, stairs, and two fireplaces. He was EXTREMELY knowledgeable, price competitive, and helpful. We have an older house which seems to scare alot of contractors whom work mostly on newer houses. Rob wasn't a bit put off and was really creative in his ideas. We haven't done the work yet, but we will definetely use him when we get to the projects.

We wanted to have an address plaque mounted on a stone pillar in our front yard. Mr. Cashdollar came out and inspected the pillar. He told us that it was cultured stone and, although he could do the job, it would not look good and the pillar would start to deteriorate. We were very impressed with his integrity and professionalism, as he could have done the job and taken payment. We will keep his name handy for any masonry work in the future.

After a full house restoration and similar door installation last summer, I knew I wanted RC Masonry for this new project. When I spoke with Robert Cashdollar in December, the work was scheduled for May. In the end, because the scope of this project was smaller and their previous job had finished a little earlier than anticipated, they were able to fit me in during March. While there were a few shortened days due to very wet and windy weather, the project was completed in less than a week. The RC Masonry crew is very professional - skilled, hardworking, punctual and tidy. They worked with the framing contractor to coordinate the timing of the actual door installation, and communicated well with me throughout the process. In addition, Robert is a perfectionist, even tearing out and redoing a finished portion when he felt that the reclaimed bricks used were not up to his standard. As I expected, the completed work is outstanding. The new door, including a contrast color brick edging, looks original, and the location of the former window would be very difficult to detect. I'm very happy with the results.
Description of Work: Enlarge window opening for a french door and remove/brick-in an additional window.

RC Masonry provided a bid in May 2009 and was hired to perform the work the following month. Robert said that he was on another job until the end of July, but could start right after that. Unfortunately, the other job took longer than he thought and he was delayed in preforming my chimney repair until the end of September. This delay created a lot of worry and frustration for me since the rainy season was approaching and a heavy shower created leaks into my house around the chimney area. Robert make several statements that he would be at my job site the following day, week, or "Monday", but did not arrive to perform the work. After the final "no show" I gave up on calling Robert and I tried hiring other Angie's List masons. However, they were so booked up by that time that they could not come out to provide a bid for several weeks or said that they could not come out at all. Since the rainy season was upon us, I spent a weekend and built a small shed around the chimney to protect against the winter weather. The following Monday Robert showed up and started the repairs. Upon my request, Robert deducted $200 from my bill to compenstate for my time and materials of the shed. Once on the job site, they did a great job. The quality of their work is outstanding and several other professionals have commented on good it looks. They finished the job in a few days and cleaned up the job site. I have since purchased another home, but will not be requesting RC Masonry provide a bid.
Description of Work: Chimney was torn down to the roofline and rebuilt. Chimeny cap was installed.

Response from RC Masonry Residential Restoration Co
Duly noted we apologized for the delay in the work, unfortunately our seasons have been booked out year to year as explained to the customer. All bids that are accepted are scheduled due to work in progress and weather related conditions, any job can be delayed three to four weeks depending on working conditions and added work load to the job that we are on. We have apologized for any inconvenience and as stated, through home owner, we deducted an amount of money agreed on for him to work on and temporarily cover a leaking problem that had been ongoing before we started. Unfortunately the job before was a 1913 church with about three and a half months worth of work. The proprietors were so pleased with the outcome of the restoration. Due to the cost savings they added another area of the building. At that time, customer was notified that his project would be delayed a few weeks. Work relations and weather conditions considered. Which delayed my schedule about two months by the end of the year due to added workload and weather conditions. In which we were two months behind. We apologized, we do not make this a habit in our business. Sincerely, RC Masonry.

When I recently purchased this home, I knew that it was sorely in need of attention to the brickwork; functionally and esthetically. It was very dirty, with missing and crumbling mortar in some areas, and spotty, improperly done repairs in others. Having done some research, I got multiple bids for the project. RC Masonry's bid was not the lowest, but it was the best in terms of detail and appropriate products, for 80 year old brick. I knew the house could look much better. But I was unprepared for how much better. It looks absolutely wonderful! And the work on swapping out the doors could not have been better. The new door location truly looks to be original, and it is nearly impossible to detect the location of the former door. From the initial proposal through finished work Robert and his crew were fantastic. Robert's proposal was detailed and he communicated well through every step of the process. His crew are skilled, hardworking, punctual and tidy. They are true craftsmen and their attention to detail exceeded my expectations. While it could be difficult having any crew of workers around for more than a month, I never felt that with RC Masonry. Not only were they diligent in their work, but were very helpful with other small jobs that came about during their time at my house. Robert was also great in suggesting and implementing solutions for a number of issues that became apparent during their work and was exceedingly fair about price adjustments. He never tried to increase the scope of their work, if it was not the best solution for the problem. And he and his crew were great in coordinating with and working around the other scheduled contractors; roofer, framing, plumber, etc.
Description of Work: Complete masonry restoration of 80 year old brick Tudor which had seen little and poorly done maintenance in the past. Remove and brick up an exterior door, create new opening and brick surround for new french door.

Robert, the owner was able to come to my home the next day to give me a bid and then scheduled the job for two days following, I had other bids and his was not the cheapest nor the most expensive but his expertse and enthusiasm were evident. The job was not a big one, but he and his employee were finished in a very short time. The job site was clean with a minimum of disruption. The finished product matched the hearth on the opposite side of the wall and I was very happy with the work. Three days later, Robert came back to clean the brick and make sure I was satisfied with the job. I would highly recommend his work to anyone needing masonry work.

Everything from the initial inspection to end result went very well. Robert's professionalism, willing attitude and top notch craftsmanship were very much appreciated. If he was running late, he would call to inform me and he kept in close contact throughout the job's life cycle. I cannot think of anything that he would have needed to do differently and highly recommend his company! The final cost was higher than the estimate, however, the cost of the chimney cap was not known at the time of the estimate, so this is what drove the final cost to be slightly higher.

However, he had a job on one of the islands and didn't get back to me right away. By the time he did call, we had found another business that we liked very well. The work hasn't been done yet, but it will be soon. I would have hired RCMasonry if this other company didn't come along.

This went quite, quite well. Robert Cashdollar, the owner, is a professional and a perfectionist. He takes great pride in his work. His bid was far less than one other, and on par with a third. I checked his references carefully and went and looked at previous jobs he had done. I chose him on the basis of work of his I had observed that was comparable to my home. He and his crew worked carefully and diligently. They were careful with our existing landscaping. They cleaned up each day. They showed for work on time. This very extensive job was completed in a reasonable time frame and with no hitches or surprises. He is a gentleman. Highly recommend!
