I was very pleased with the company before they even started the work. The "bidder" was a licensed arborist and was able to discuss possibly saving one of the trees. The scheduling process was easy and they were accommodating. The day of the job, a team arrived and they were professional... but I had to give them a "B" because when I questioned something, the response was not professional and my relationship with the neighbor was not respected. This incident will not change my mind - I would use them again in a heartbeat, especially since they are arborists which is important to me.

Trent consulted with me about the health of all of the trees on my property. He inspected each one and gave me his recommendations. I was very appreciative of his candor and of his advice. Trent and his team did a ton of work at my house. They showed up on time and worked very efficiently together. The work they did on my large elm included some major trimming to distribute the weight differently to accommodate the split trunk. They also implemented a cabling system to further increase the chance of my keeping this tree healthy for several more years. They cleaned up EVERYTHING before they left - even disposing of some random limbs that I had not cleaned up after the last wind storm. They really did a terrific job. I will DEFINITELY use them again and highly recommend their services.
Description of Work: NW Arboriculture trimmed Cedar trees that line my driveway and had grown so long they were brushing up against the house. Removed Ivy from large tree. Trimmed and cabled a very large elm in my back yard that I am trying to save. It has a split trunk and I've been monitoring it for several years. Most of the "tree guys" I have consulted have just wanted to take it down for a substantial fee. Trent, as an arborist, was willing to try a different strategy to save the tree.

Trent was wonderful! He came over to our house and spent an hour with us, talking about the trees and giving us wonderful advice how to take care of them. When his crew came over, they worked very professionally and fast! They took down couple of trees, pruned some branches and dead wood… it was impressive how well they worked. When they left, you would not even know somebody worked on your backyard – there was no mess at all. They cleaned up every single thing, cut the trees down to firewood and used the branches to make a LOT of mulch for us. The price was great too – the invoice was the same as the estimate (which was very reasonable, compared to other companies). I would definitely recommend Trent and his company to anybody who asks. Wonderful experience!

They arrived on time with all the equipment needed (including a crane) and made short work of the tree. The whole job was done in just over one hour. I went out to look at it after they left and if you hadn't been here to see it you wouldn't even know they had been here at all. They cleaned up everything, sawdust, leaves and hauled off all the wood and debris. It was the best experience we've had with a tree service and would use them again in the future.
Description of Work: Trent and his crew cut down a maple tree that was within a foot of our house and was overhanging the roof. To complicate it further there was another tree within inches on the other side of the maple that they had to avoid.

The crew arrived promptly and and did the trimming I needed them to do. I like working with Northwest Arboriculture because they are careful of the health of the trees and will find the best trimming strategies to get the desired results, in this case more light in the back yard. They also do a beautiful job of cleaning up after a job, you'd hardly know they'd been there. The trees look great.

Both times we have hired Trent to work for us it was professional with an expertise that was worthy of a Masters in Physics degree. Trent and his crew are simply amazing to watch. The smallest of our trees was roughly 80' tall and all of them were within 18' of our house. And wonderfully the only thing to come into contact with our house were the smallest of branchlets from the douglas firs. They showed up on time, they cut the trees down, they cleaned up our yard and two of our neighbors yards, even taking the time to apply our neighbors tarp back over their kids trampoline so that it would stay clean for them (which is more than the kids do for themselves) before they began cutting. Trents crews are respectful, very appreciative of hot coffee and soda, and do not use foul language (at least within ear shot of the house). We highly recommend them whenever we get a chance.
Description of Work: We had Trent come back to remove the remaining four douglas fir trees that we had left standing after his first visit three years prior, when we had him remove five trees total. He removed all limb material, cleaned our yard and two of our neighbors yards, and left us the rounds for fire wood.

Trent was on time for his appointment to view our tree situation. We live on the side of a ravine, on a steep slope, and our house is surrounded on three sides with native trees---maples, alders, and large firs. The maples have grown since we bought the house 10 years ago and were overhanging the roof and shading the decks. One alder broke in the last windstorm, fortunately falling away from the house so it did not hit the roof, but the broken tree was unsightly and we were concerned about the potential for other trees to break. We also wanted the health of the large firs around our house evaluated, as if they were to fall they could crush our house or a neighbor's. Trent looked at all the trees from the decks and from the ground below (you almost need climbing gear to negotiate the steep slopes). He pronounced the firs healthy and came up with a plan to remove or trim the alders and maples that presented a hazard to our roof or decks. Removal of trees in our area requires a permit from the city, and Trent's plan met the requirements for approval. His estimate for the work was half what the "big company" proposed (the big company is very aggressive about soliciting work and offering free bids---I finally told them to stop calling!) We set a date for the work and everything was done on that day. It involved a lot of work to remove the cut debris from the ravine. everything worked out according to plan and we are very pleased with the result.

Altogether, we contacted three companies to give us a quote on cutting down the old wind-damaged black locust tree that was too close to our house. The first two arrived, 30 and 45 minutes late, respectively. They were barely here 5 minutes, hastily scrawled out a barely legible quote and then were on their way. By contrast, Trent of Northwest Arboriculture was here for about 25-30 minutes and he educated me while he assessed what needed to be done. He set himself apart from his cheaper competitors right from the start. Even taking a powerful green laser pointer to indicate other branches that were still on the tree that were in danger of being the next to come down. I asked a lot of questions and he answered every one - very courteous and professional. I was impressed and he got the job, even though he was more expensive than the others. And since the tree was dangerously close to our house and considering more fallen branches could also damage the neighbor's property, we decided to go with Trent because his company was the most professional and instilled in us the most confidence that he and his crew could remove the tree with damaging either property. The last thing we needed was giving the job to the cheapest company and then have them botch the job with shoddy work. And wow, this crew was organized! They got right to work and completed everything within a few hours. Plus, they thoroughly cleaned up after themselves. They were very efficient. It was like watching a choreographed ballet. It was really hard to concentrate on work and not watch the economy of motion with which they executed every move. We will definitely be calling them in the future for other tree removals.
Description of Work: Cut down a wind-damaged black locust tree that had lost several large main branches, one fell near (too near) our house, the other on an unused area of neighbor's property.

The first job -- removal of two large maples -- I initially contracted for with another (non-Angie's List) company. After that other company did damage to my property and my neighbor's in the first 2 hours, I fired them. I then contacted Northwest Arboriculture to see if they would come in and finish the botched work. The owner came out and gave me a very fair bid, which I accepted with great relief. He worked it into his schedule to get it done quickly in order to accommodate a fence project I had scheduled for the same area of my yard. His tree removal crew consisted of six men and they were able to take down the trees safely with no further damage. They chipped and removed all the debris and were done in two hours. It was a pleasure watching them work in what was a tight area: they were very skilful and obviously highly concerned about safety. The second job involved maintenance of the perimeter of a large detention pond, and removal and chipping of the many small trees that needed to be cut back. This time there was a crew of seven and they were done with the whole job in about four hours. They brought all the right equipment to power through the job, and they did a great job of cleaning up afterwards. If you want tree work done correctly and safely, and want do business with an owner who is knowledgeable, experienced, honest, and ethical, I strongly recommend Northwest Arboriculture.
Description of Work: The provider performed two jobs: 1) Removal of two very large maple trees. 2) Clearance and removal of 100's of small trees around a neighborhood detention pond.

I contacted this provider after checking Angie's List and made an appointment to have him come out and do a bid for my home and the community club close by which I manage. He was prompt and very helpful with suggestions and alternatives. I was quite impressed and did not get the impression that he was trying to oversell his services in any way. The day of service he was prompt, completed the work quickly and when one question came up regarding a tree contacted me before going forward. I plan on using him again in October to remove a tree and put in a replacement. Very reasonable prices.

They showed up on time and immediately went to work taking down a 35 year old hedge. Within a very short time the hedge was gone and shredded, and they immediately started removing the stumps. The cleanup was excellent and the area was left in perfect order. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. An outstanding job done very professionally.

This guy is a kick! He is very knowledgeable, loves trees, and provides a great service for those who feel that they are stewards of the trees on their property. He confirmed that there wasn't anything that could be done with a vine maple, that trimming was going to be difficult for a photinia, and gave some great advice on improving the health of a dogwood. It was a wonderful time having him discuss the trees and the options. I will have him remove the two trees that he suggested

This was the second time that I have used NORTHWEST ARBORICULTURE LLC. The first was an emergency and was a cold call. They responded quickly, fixed the problem (limb cracked on cherry tree due to wind storm). Cleaned up. The second time, they came out, walked through my front and back yards, we discussed the plan which included fixing problems, supporting trees health and esthetics. Arrived on time, crew was job focused, crew lead reviewed plan with me, and the work was completed and area cleaned. When needed, I will use NORTHWEST ARBORICULTURE LLC again.
Description of Work: Pruned apple tree for fence clearance, health of the tree and for esthetics. Pruned the deciduous (cherry) tree for clearance for neighbor's basket ball hoop, owner's shed clearance and for health of the tree. Pruned the Evergreen for minimal fence clearance. Pruned the crab apple tree (front yard) for sidewalk clearance. Trimmed three front yard bushes down about 1 foot. Pruned the camellia (back yard, next to house) for shape and building clearance. Cleaned up the work area and hauled debris away.

Trent came promptly to discuss what needed to be done. As he was leaving, he noticed that the trunk of a large tree was splitting and came back to tell me. The prompt estimate itemized and detailed 15 tasks, and the work was scheduled. He and his crew arrived early, Trent detailed each task to them, and they set right to work. When finished, he checked that each task had been done to his expert standards, including that everything was cleaned up. Great job!

About six years ago Northwest Arboriculture was recommended to me by a friend. I was extremely pleased during our first interaction and continue to be during those since. Trent is an arborist; he is not in the business of merely chopping down trees. He is always on site. He and his crew are pleasant, thoughtful, accommodating, effective, efficient, and professional. They arrive on time, take time to discuss the services and provide options, have appropriate equipment for significant tree work, leave the surroundings cleaner than before they began. Several neighbors have come out to watch, were impressed, and now use Northwest Arboriculture, too. The price may seem a little high, but the quality and responsiveness of Northwest Arboriculture are worth it.
Description of Work: I have used Northwest Arboriculture three times, the last time being November, 2010. Over the years the company has: removed branches too close to the house, dead wooded old growth evergreens, wind sailed my grove of ten, removed whole trees, cabled a double-top tree, pruned decorative trees and shrubs, completed storm repairs, etc.

The men climbed the trees, cut off the branches and then cut down the trees in 6 foot sections. They did no damage to the woods or buildings. Could have had them chip the branches and cut up the logs but we do that ourselves. On time fast and professional. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Trent came out to evaluate which trees on our 5 acres were of danger to the house. Very professional and loves trees. He spent quite a while here and came back later to do resistance tests of specific large trees. At a later date, Trent and his crew cut down 5 large firs/hemlocks near the house and shop.

Trent showed up on time for his estimate. He carefully reviewed the trees and listened to my questions. Unlike others proposing on the work, he actually used a probe to monitor the health of two trees in question, which had been deemed healthy by others. While on the outside the two trees looked reasonably healthy, when they were taken down the probe's readings validated that there were issues, which included termite infestation and rot. Trent's team showed up on time for the actual work. They were friendly and very efficient. They cleaned up the area as promised. I would definitely hire Trent again.

Trent and Company did an amazing job. The price was great and the professionalism was way more than I expected for a tree company. They were incredibly fast. Normally, you wouldn't want tree cutting to be done too fast, but I couldn't spot a single thing they did that was unsafe, they were just very efficient at doing their jobs. They did great cleanup, I swear my property was cleaner than before they arrived. On top of it, they were all nice guys.

They were working at my house long after the sun was setting. I am in Seattle in an area that has a lot of trees and we were expecting lots of bad weather and which we've had and we've had people coming out and giving estimates and I had 3 estimates. Northwest Arboriculture was at the middle of the road. They weren't the cheapest but they weren't the most expensive. But I think what I liked about the fellow, he actually knows his trees and they were just really professional and helpful because I ended up having to having to have a tree cut down that I didn't anticipate having cut down because it had been damaged by lightening, I don't know how many years ago. One tree I did have to have cut down because it had been damaged but we found 2 so we had 2 fir trees cut down and then I had all the rest of my fir trees, which is three more, plus a smaller tree cut and that price was very reasonable and not to mention the fact that they just real diligent about cleaning up and not damaging anything around. I mean they had to bring down these huge trees over the fences and power lines and then they had to cleanup and they were just very good. They didn't leave anything around, they were just excellent. I've had other people here who didn't do a good job but that man was really honest about things.
