Four neighbors decided to go in and have our shared gravel driveway paved. The person who set it up instructed them keep the grade the same level. The road had plenty of gravel and no potholes. Instead, they took the easy route, brought in recycle asphalt for their leveling and put the asphalt on top. It must have raised the grade another four inches. They didn't give a single consideration about my driveway and I ended with about a 12 drop at my entrance. It blocked off the runoff along the entire length of my property, which greatly concentrated the runoff right across my driveway entrance and we about lost a chunk of asphalt in the first heavy rain. I am now facing a several thousand dollar bill to fix our drainage and it is going to cost a lot more for all the side gravel along the rest of the driveway. Did the owner give rip? No. He was too busy to even look at the mess and neither did his grader show up. So much for hiring professionals.

John came in August 2017 to give me an estimate. Also helped me refine it during a second visit. Said he was too busy to do the job right away, but committed to do it in October. Based on his estimate and his professionalism to that point, I turned away the other bidders. I have been calling him since September with no response. His office takes a message and says he will call later in the day and I left many voicemails on his cell phone as well. I am disappointed that he turned out to be so unprofessional that he wouldn't return a customer's call. He seemed like a really nice guy during the estimate process.

It is a pleasure to write a positive review for Harms paving. I took the unitive to start the process of paving our neighborhoods private drive. It entailed numerous notifications to our neighbors and several bids for 2 paving methods for comparison. Of the 5 businesses solicited Harm’s paving was the most proactive with communications and specifications. And also the most competitive with pricing. Once we had a unanimous decision from 10 neighbors Harms set a start date. Their crews were on time, road prep work performed, private drives and ½ of primary road completed day 1 and entire project completed day 2. There was close to70.000 square feet of surface to be prepped and paved. The Harm’s crew did this in 2 days. WOW! The project management abilities and team work of their staff were the strong contributors to their extraordinary performance and made the entire project go smoothly. We are very satisfied with the product and results and highly recommend them for your project. Please see images. Best Regards to Harm’s Paving, Brian

Description of Work: I had Harms Paving pave our driveway. There were issues with cracks in the asphalt where it had shifted when they rolled it out. When I would ask them to come out and fix it I was assured that they would but they were always too busy doing other jobs. It took about 3 months and multiple texts but they finally did come out and finish my driveway. The finished product was of good quality and worth the price we paid. I found that the best way to communicate them was through text messaging.I only rated a B because of the time involved to getting them to return and finish paving.

Everything went exactly as it should. They came out when they said they would to do the estimate (they even accommodated a 5:30 am time because we both were busy other times). The estimate was the lowest out of three bids by a fairly large margin. I told Bob we were ready as soon as they could do it. He said they were about two weeks out, which was fine with me. That same day they called me back and said they could start in two days. They were there as scheduled and completed the job promptly. They were careful of some fragile patio areas I pointed out to them and did a fantastic job. The entire team was friendly and professional. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone needing work done. PS I did not list a price because I don't believe it is fair to Harms to list prices that may reflect a different project or details that may be different on other jobs.

Description of Work: Description Of Work: After speaking with Bob Johnson at Harm's Paving on Sept. 5 he told me he would be by my rental house to look at my gravel driveway I want paved. He never called back. Someone else just recommended Harm's and so I called and got Bob Johnson again and politely asked what ever happened and he said he had gone to the house last month and saw that the driveway was too steep for his company to pave "and so I turned around and left, and phoned another paving company to call you." That company never called me. I asked Bob why he did not phone me right away to say his company did not have the ability to do this job and he said, "We are a big company and I am very busy." In my opinion, stay out of Harm's way. He is too busy for me, and might be too busy for you. In addition, you'll never find out unless YOU call HIM.

I contacted Harm's and a few other companies around the third week of September. Harm's was the only asphalt contractor to respond to my request and they sent out someone to estimate when I wasn't around - which was fine with me, it was an obvious job. From initial contact to final work was just under four weeks which was ok because I was not in a big hurry. The work consisted of tearing out the old driveway (subcontracted), grading/leveling and paving. I had a few small requests which were all handled as I asked. I think a little improvement in communication around schedules would have been better but I understand that they are busy. I rate them high on professionalism and quality of work and I would not hesitate to use them or recommend them to my friends and neighbors.

4th week in July 2013 I contacted Harm's Paving Co. regarding repair and resurfacing of my circular driveway. A couple of days later a somewhat pretentious estimator, Bob Johnson, who immediately began bragging about his over 30 years estimating experience, stated my job would be quite routine and took measurements. He then gave me the name of a demolition man's company who would forward his estimate to Harm's Paving to be included in their estimate. Less then a week later the demolition man, Jim Weaver came and gave his estimate which he forwarded to Harm's Paving. We are into the second week of October, and after having sent emails and left voice mails - no response. They are a loser outfit!!!

Excellent service, on time and on budget. would use them again
Description of Work: The service request was for a very exact pre grade on a driveway that would drain on site and had very little fall to accommodate our situation. Pre grading was preformed as per conversation, and asphalt was applied as per specifications. They are very professional at their jobs and found nothing to complain about. Clean, neat and complete..

From and quot;Blacktop Boband quot;, the estimator to Robert the final and quot;smootherand quot; it went great. These guys were awesome. The first grader, Scott, determined exactly where drains should be placed and then just hopped to it. All of these folks were easy to work with, polite and prompt. We are thrilled with their work and love our new driveway.

Harm's came out and paved my never before paved drive (61ft x 12ft) plus spread crushed rock an additional parking area. They did a great job! They put up with me adding more and more to their scope of work. Of all the companies I contacted they were the cheapest and the only ones that came out and looked at the job before the bid. The only negative was their communication. It wasn’t very good and it took multiple calls to see the job through to completion. I started out communication via email the switched to telephone tag and finally to text messages (which worked best). They were a no show a couple of times and the annoying thing was that they didn’t call to let me know what was up, I had to call them. In the end it took 6 days from grading to paving which included a weekend and a holiday. I would use them again but would really hammer home the need for good communication.

They were excellent. They were right on time. They were a little bit less expensive than other pavers in the area. They came in right on the estimate. Everything was done exactly the way they said they would do it. They drained everything. They banked the pavement so that it drained perfectly. They just did an excellent job on the quality, the price and their promptness. I was so impressed with them. I don't know if they were the best on pricing, but they were certainly the best from what we checked on.
Description of Work: I used Harms Paving Company for asphalt paving. They paved a very long-winding driveway through the woods, and they paved all of the area in front of my garage and outfield.

They were wonderful! I was a little concerned because thier quote was the lowest, but in this case, it was certainly the right choice. They communicated well, and our driveway looks great! The worst thing that happened is when the guy came to do the prep, his equiptment would not start so we were delayed a day. I could not believe how fast they got the driveway paved.THe preper adn pves

We received a quote from Harms, which turned out to be the *lowest* of three quotes. The highest quote came NYS paving, which was an exceptionally high bid (~45% higher than Harms). Since Harms had paved the private road that adjoins our property, the quality of their work was self-evident (very good), and they also spent the time to hep us understand some of the technology behind paving driveways (machines, mix, etc.).We were floored when, after giving them the job, we were contacted by them to schedule the work in a very tight window, right before labor day. They graded on the first day, and promptly finished the asphalt during half of the following day. Always courteous, respectful, and responsive to our questions, we were very pleased with the experience. The final roll could have been just ever so slightly smoother in a couple of spots, but, we are still *completely* pleased with the overall results, and the value we found in Harms. Based on our experience, they *will* be our first call next time.
Description of Work: Harms Paving provided a site-survey, quote, and ultimately graded/paved a 200-foot asphalt driveway and parking area, in front of our house. As part of the job, they consulted with us to precisely mark out the width and path of the asphalt, and we also talked about grade, drainage, etc. We received a quote from them, which turned out to be the lowest of three quotes.
