I have never prepared a house for sale before, and this was a difficult job because it had sentiment attached to it. I didn't know where to start. Roberta Anderson met with me and discussed her services, which included what I would describe as part interior/exterior design consultation services, part fix-it guidance counseling, and part furniture staging. She went through the house advising me on what fixtures & appliances to replace, walls/cabinets to paint, and countertops & floors to replace. In each case she selected the exact colors, styles, and samples I should use. When I went to a store or contractor, I knew exactly what to order for the paint colors, countertop designs, and flooring. She always gave me the caveat, "If you can afford to do this." She made it clear that she was making suggestions that would help the house sell but final budgeting choices were up to me. (I was prepared to spend about $10K on renovating the house, and probably spent closer to $15K by the time I was done.) Roberta guided me through my renovation process, emailing me and taking calls when I wasn't sure if I was choosing the right thing. She was fantastic. I spent a lot of time agonizing over certain aspects of what I was doing, but in the end, hiring Roberta Anderson was the best money I spent. If it were only to hire her for furniture staging, she is worth what she charges; but she provides so much more. She is honest and trustworthy, and she has a sense of style that she uses to highlight the good points of her client's home. The furniture-staging process is a work of art to her; each house has its own style & ambiance, and Roberta tries to choose exactly the right pieces for each room that she stages. She also takes great interior & exterior photographs of the staged house that we were able to use in the realtor's listing. Although she focused on the interior, she did advise me about some exterior flaws that I should address (like having the roof cleaned, pressure-washing the walkways darkened by moss, etc.). I would highly recommend Roberta Anderson of Hearth & Home Staging without hesitation. She is honest & a great property design specialist, and she made my house look fantastic!
Description of Work: When I was getting ready to sell our empty family home, I was advised to consider a furniture stager. Since we live in Kitsap County, I didn't know if we would have anyone in the area who would provide such services. An internet search led me to Hearth & Home Staging in Silverdale, WA. When I made an appointment with Roberta Anderson of Hearth & Home Staging, I wasn't sure what to expect. I got a wealth of advice on how to modernize our home to appeal to house-hunters and a beautifully staged house ready for sale. According to her business card, Roberta Anderson of Hearth & Home Staging is a "Property Stylist and Design Specialist." I think that perfectly describes what she does perfectly. Yes, I meant to write "perfectly" twice, because Roberta has a great eye for design and for staging a house in such a way that all I could say when I saw the final results was, "It's PERFECT!" Roberta had taken an empty, older home that we had worked on for weeks to clean & modernize and turned it into a magazine-quality showpiece. It feels warm and welcoming when you enter. There is not an abundance of furniture or accessories - just the right amount. Roberta has an eye for detail that maybe some people wouldn't notice, but the overall feeling is, "This is a happy, classy, cared-for home."
