From the beginning of our house project up until the end, Shawn and Shannon from Select Build were great to work with. I could not have asked for a better company and people to work with. They were responsive to every question, need, and concern that we had. They offered suggestions, helped us problem solve, helped us think through what we wanted and the best way for us to achieve a specific look, and took lots of time to educate us about our house and what options would look best (while being transparent about costs for specific materials or requests). Our process began in January 2021 with an estimate - Shawn and Shannon were easy to schedule an estimate with, they showed up on time, and walked our property to get an idea of the work that we wanted done. They made suggestions for us to consider and allowed us to really be creative in what we wanted and offered pros/cons about what we were thinking. Once we signed the agreement, Shawn and Shannon communicated with us in terms of when the project would start, what the timelines were for the permits, an estimate of how long it would take to get materials, and they provided us with lots of links to materials and pictures for us to consider. They also suggested different ways for us to get ideas on house and trim colors, siding options (textures, sizes, etc.), porch designs, front doors, storm doors, door locks, lighting fixtures, decking materials, railings, and mailboxes. With each new decision that we had to make, Shawn and Shannon were right there with us. Shawn and Shannon also recommended different businesses for us to use (based on their experiences) once it was time to purchase our front door and storm door. They also took care of any scheduling and communication with the electrician, plumber, and gutter company. Shawn and Shannon communicated with us daily, either in person, by text, and by phone. Each week we knew exactly what they were working on, what the goals were for the week, when they would be on site, and if any delays occurred. Two things really stand out for me about Shawn, Shannon, Scott, and Select Build. The attention to detail and quality of workmanship are outstanding. Even down to the smallest details, details that I would have probably never noticed were attended to. From covering the screws on the deck boards for a seamless finish to the batten board spacing for just the right look. But, probably what stands out to me most, is the kindness and care that Select Build showed us (and our dog who was often interested in seeing what was going on) throughout the whole process. They were genuinely interested in getting to know us and making sure that we were happy with our house in the end.

We chose Select build for the remodel and addition to our house. From the very beginning Shawn and Shannon were very helpful. They communicated every step of the way, gave multiple options when obstacles came up and were thoughtful of our budget. If we had questions they answered them quickly. They were able to coordinate well with subcontractors and city inspectors to get things done quickly and efficiently. The work they did was great. We love our new kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms, floors and paint. Everything looks perfect! We have a few more projects coming up and will definitely be giving them a call when that time comes!

Shawn, the company owner, treated our home as if it was his own, with a level of attention to quality, beauty, and structural integrity that we greatly appreciated. With the upcoming expansion of our family, we needed to add a shower to our main floor bathroom and convert our basement into a more comfortable living space. However, this was by far the largest renovation we've attempted, and considering we had a clear deadline, we were very concerned about it running over the available time. Thankfully, we found Select Build, and they were a tremendous blessing in our time of need. Shawn and Shannon are absolutely wonderful people to work with, cheerful and optimistic, but level-headed and professional. Shawn and Shannon clearly communicated what decisions needed to be made and when, which was critical for hitting our deadlines. They worked hard to make our requests worked, but gave advance notice (when possible) if something unexpected happened. They offered recommendations and alternatives when appropriate, which was very helpful because this was so new to us. Their team was polite, their clean up was impeccable, their workmanship was top notch.... ....and the project finished on time! We would very highly recommend Shawn, Shannon and Select Build for your renovation projects, and would definitely work with them again in the future.

Select Build did an excellent job finishing our porch and driveway project. Shawn applied fine wood finishing techniques to the wood doors and pillars. They removed and refinished our driveway, replaced the back deck stairs, and painted the siding. They were easy to work with, and they came when they said they would come. We appreciated the professionalism of the team. We couldn't be more pleased with the final product. We would hire them again.

The project at my apartment building was a multi-year substantial renovation that involved just about everything: emergency foundation repair, seismic retrofitting, fire sprinklers, structural work, excavation, water line replacement, interior/exterior paint, drywall, doors, floors, bathroom, and finishing trim work. In addition to the scope of the work, it was a stressful experience dealing with the many city building departments. I had my doubts that the project would ever get completed/approved because the city was often uncooperative, disorganized, and backlogged with other projects. Shawn, Shannon, and the rest of the crew at Select Build pushed through all of this and completed the work with the highest quality. I had peace of mind that they were showing up on time and doing their best work even with hurdles of dealing with the city. In the final months of the project, Shannon really stepped up with coordinating work and dealing with the city to get everything approved. I'm incredibly thankful that I chose them, and cannot imagine any other contractor having the skills, persistence, patience to get this completed. On top of this, Shawn and Shannon are warm-hearted people and were my support system when times got tough. I don't know how I could have made it through this without them. I consider them my family and would use them again without hesitation.

We are so happy with the conversion from the garage to an extra room and bathroom. The work was done so efficiently and they were able to build exactly what I envisioned. The room looks beautiful and Shawn was so good at guiding me through the entire process. The workers were all so professional and friendly; this company made the entire process as easy as possible. I cannot say enough about how great it was to work with them; we are so happy with the quality and care they took into building this conversion. I would highly recommend Select Build.

I have known Shawn for 30 plus years along with several other general contractors. There never was an issue with whom I would have construct my new custom English Tudor design home designed by local architect Robert Otterson it was just a matter of when. I finally pulled the trigger for this project in August of 2017 after years of permitting challenges finally were resolved and the green light was given. This was a very complex build including 10 inch foundation, 24 foot ceilings, lots of exposed beams, central staircase, arched door ways along with over 400 feet of valleys on a 12/12 roof pitch to complete this Tudor look. Shawn and Select Build nailed it. It was a 6 month project during the worst weather conditions we have ever had. Select Build was hired to form and pour this massive 10 inch foundation and to frame the entire build. I have been a contractor myself in this area for over 40 years and am a very picky person when it comes to construction and have seen it all but in the end Select Builds performance exceeded all of my expectations. Watching Shawn and his crew work from start to finish was nothing less than than a work of art. Even the building inspector made a statement that very few contractors could have performed this work. Every piece of wood was hand cut and Shawn’s experience in the industry lead to even a far better build. Even on complex 4 way miter cuts on beam joists It is impossible to even slip a drivers license between cuts. Shawn and myself also implemented many great new ideas and features during the build and we always got along. If he saw a better way to do things he always had my complete trust which he earned from the start. They showed up every day no matter what conditions were and always got busy with a great attitude. I know Shawn lost some sleep on this on because of all the challenging design features but in the end they nailed it. Dead nuts perfect. The end result was far beyond my expectation. As I would say “Way to go Shawn”😎 These boys can do it all.

It was an excellent job. I'd absolutely recommend him to explain the entire process. The asphalt repair was good. They also painted some iron work, wrought iron. They are absolutely on time and show up to work. They always clean up after wards. Everything is tidy and the set up to get prepared fresh.

Shawn was back again, he and his crew helped me out with a major renovation/ concrete work, Iron fabrication and iron work. Job was long and tedious with this weather in Seattle. They persevered and always cleaned up after themselves and always started the day on time. They do all of my work, no job is too small or too big. I would highly recommend them and have to others.

We hired Select Build to replace our aging outdoor deck after it became clear that the old deck wasn’t up to code and beyond the ability to repair. We worked with them on a new design that more than tripled the square footage from what we had before, and once a building permit was obtained, they immediately demolished the old deck and began to construct the one in its place. As we watched the new deck being built, we were amazed by the high level of quality and workmanship going into the new deck. Once the new deck was completed, we couldn't be more pleased with the result and there were absolutely no problems with passing inspection from the city. We had selected several upgrades prior to construction, so while this project was not cheap, it was done exactly as we wanted with the materials we wanted to go with and we'll never need to worry about this deck again (and upkeep will be minimal!), so it was definitely worth it! The new new deck is so sturdy it feels like walking on solid ground and the railing is extremely secure. I'd like to think the deck will withstand an earthquake better than our house will! The steps are at a lower grade making them much easier to walk on than our previous deck. It is obvious that this new deck with last several decades thanks to the owner and staff of Select Build. The Select Build owner & staff are highly skilled, very friendly, honest, up front and very easy to talk to. They’re conscientious and definitely aim to please. We are planning to hire Select Build again in the future for some additional work. If you’re looking for a building contractor that really knows what they’re doing, you can’t go wrong with Select Build.

Everything went really well, the crew was so nice and professional, and my walls and ceilings look amazing. Shawn explained everything and laid out fair pricing (and stuck to it!). They worked really hard to get us back in our house on time. I will definitely use them again.

I can't say enough positive things about Shawn and his crew. They were friendly, punctual, skilled across many disciplines, reliable -- basically everything you could want in a contractor. They removed an unsafe sunroom and replaced it with a new dining room that matches the rest of our unique cedar home. They also added a new storage room underneath the dining room. The entire process was as smooth and stress-free as construction could be. The rooms are perfect. The final cost was double the estimate, but we've had such awful experiences with contractors in the past that it was worth the price to get exactly what we wanted. We'd recommend Select Build to anyone, and we'll use them again for all of our future construction projects.

Shaun, Yev and Shannon were absolutely excellent and a pleasure to have working on our home. The quality of work was exemplary. Shaun communicated effectively with us during the entire process from the bid to plans to scheduling work. He recommended we not have them do some work I planned explaining it was unnecessary thus saving us money. They even liked our dog and treated her like a member of their crew! We trusted them completely and left the house open for them when we weren't home. The new deck roof had to be built prior to the roofers coming and Shaun acted as coordinator with them and the gutter company. By the end of this process not only do we have a wonderful, covered outdoor living room but we felt we made new friends. Thanks Select Build!! P.S. our dog, Bea, misses you!

We couldn't have wished for a better experience! We had severe water damage in our bathroom and the silver lining was working with Select Build LLC to start fresh building a new one. They are such a responsive, competent, timely, professional, and courteous team. Shawn and his crew were there bright and early each day with smiles on their faces ready to discuss the next steps of the project, answer any questions, and get to work. We have a small child at home and expected it would be really difficult during the remodel, but the team was so kind, careful, and respectful making sure we were comfortable and that the home was a safe and clean place for our toddler. Shawn just has it together with so much expertise across many disciplines. It was great to be able to tap into that knowledge and defer to him in decisions we made along the way. He was flexible and willing to work with our schedule and desired project outcomes but we were also so thankful for his candid advice regarding estethic, job detail cost/labor trade offs, and suggested materials. By the end of the project we had a stunning bathroom and the Select Build team is seriously missed around here because they began to feel like family. In addition to finishing in a timely manner we came in on budget, Shawn helped us through the process to get where we needed to be. We would 110% recommend Shawn and his team and can't say how many times we have said to each other over the course of this project that we were "so glad Shawn was the one we called."

It went perfect. They are prompt, come where they are supposed to and always clean up after themselves. They are great with things like deck repair and fencing. I recommend them.

Excellent. Select Build came up with great ideas on turning a 1970's era eyesore into a beautiful guest bathroom. They worked cleanly and efficiently and kept us informed on details, materials and the whole process. Their solutions for window and walls eliminated the leaks that had plagued this bathroom. We will definitely have them back for other projects.

Our old farmhouse had a cross-gabled second story--great historical architecture but difficult to use efficiently. We wanted it taken off and a new one built. Big problem: We couldn't start until October 1. We needed to live on the first floor of the house while demolition and construction were taking place, and autumn is a really bad time to have the roof off your house in this area! Shawn decided to demolish only enough of the top story so that he could build the new roof, and then complete the demolition in an enclosed space. It worked beautifully. We stayed warm and dry, and the crew cleaned up as they went, so that the inconvenience of living on the construction site was minimal for us. One reason we chose Shawn is that his operation is small, and he said he would be on the site almost every day, and he was. He was also very well organized, planning ahead when his subs needed to come, and when inspectors needed to be there, and when to order supplies so they'd be on hand when they were needed. We had none of the holdups that often occur because the contractor and client can't get together to have discussions and make decisions. His crew, which included his daughter Maria and co-worker Steve, were hard-working, reliable, and cheerful, and a pleasure to have around. We are very happy with our new master bedroom suite, spacious bathroom, and pleasant guest room. (Shawn also suggested we use pocket doors wherever possible to maximize the usable space.) We heartily recommend Select Build and will happily call them again.

Each job that has been done: Deck replacement was started and completed in a timely manner and was CLEANED UP each evening as to not disturb my tenants. The fencing they did and the Carport repair was done without any problems and the cost was worth every cent. My next job will be Doors. looking forward to having Shawn Hines the owner in my phone for a long time. He is Always available to talk with and has a knowledge of what it takes to complete a job well done.

hawn (owner) is was very approachable and accomodated a lot of last minute design changes. We did not account for additional space needed for blinds for the patio door when positioning the island and he was able to move it after installing for no additional cost and did it with a smile!! Price wise, we found them to be one of the lowest and ended up going with Shawn (and not the lowest bidder) just because we got a good vibe from him and that was the best decision we made! This is a family run business and they have some great contacts in the industry. Shawn was able to get us a custom garage door at cost and saved us a a lot of $$ along the way. He also offered to re-frame the door to accommodate the custome size! One of the things we really liked about them was they did not nickel and dime about small changes to the plan and did more than what was asked for! While they were working we had a over-the-range microwave delivered and he installed it for free!! Normally its a couple of 100 bucks and the headace of finding someone willing to do it! I should add that they did a awesome job cleaning up after themselves and worked around our schedule. We were quite comfortable letting them come and go as they pleased and were always pleasantly surprised to see the progress they made when we got back from work each day. Always stayed in touch with us and kept up updated on the project. To me a contractor who does what they promised and at the cost that was estimated, gets lots of point and Shawn and crew did that! If you are considering any re-model, big or small, make sure you atleast have Shawn come over for estimates and above all ideas!! Some of the suggestions he made were totally awesome and saved lots of $$ and made the place look really good. I would not hesitate to call him again for any job that needs done at our place in the future. Oh and he also offered flexible payment options!!

Overall the job went really well. Outside work is tricky in the wet weather here in Seattle. They had to time phases of the work for days when there wasnt any rain..particularly when they were colorizing and texturizing the concrete walls for the new planting beds.

He talked up the estimate to a whole new driveway rather than giving an estimate for just the patch work we requested. I would beware of him because he will try to talk you into having more work done than needed.

Shawn Hine, the owner, is hands on and has a wealth of people to call on to help with the jobs he is doing. I've never had anyone that did a cleaner job (picking up scaffolding, covering plants) and his price is right. It has been amazing working with them and are using them for future jobs.

This is an awesome company. It can be a bit intimidating making construction/ remodeling decisions, but they are very approachable. Shawn listens to what you have in mind, and gives helpful suggestions on how to make it happen. For me, he came up with many ideas that just made my projects better. The job they do is first rate, with a very courteous and skilled crew. I recommend Select Build highly. If I have another project, I know who to call.
