After calling over 5 companies for estimates, I was immediately impressed by the professionalism, clear estimates and communication skills of Pristine Sweeps. And after getting blown off by several other companies often on short notice, either because the job was too big for their skills (it involved roof, structure and chimney)...or too small (since it was only a prefab and a couple days of work), I appreciated that they didn't treat us that way. We hired Aaron to do the teardown exploration...to see how far the damage went (which wasn't as bad as expected). And later we hired him to do the repair. He was super busy, but was up front about this, and willing to work us in. His prices were reasonable, and he did a great job spec'ing materials to match our house and gave us, literally, a VERY solid repair. Plus, he's a good guy! Happy to recommend him...and would use Pristine Sweeps again.
Description of Work: We had a prefab chimney that was rotting out on the bottom and pretty unstable. We weren't sure how far the damage went and needed advice, exploration of the problem, estimates and repairs.

It was a pleasure to work with Aaron from start to finish and to see how his work would hold up through a weeks of heavy Fall rain! He was eager to help us solve our problems. He returned our initial call promptly, and came out to our home on time. Took photos of what needed to be repaired and gave clear instructions on why and how he'd complete the work. He wrote up a worksheet and left us an estimate. Weeks later and after 3 other bids we got, he returned a call from us promptly again and answered other questions very professionally and honestly. Although not the lowest bid, his timely manner, pride in his work, knowledge and motivated spirit, helped us pick his company.Because he had several jobs lined up, the soonest we could schedule a start date, was three weeks out. Despite the weeks that had passed he gave us a call the day before to confirm and was here to work as scheduled. He worked the entire day and advised he would have to come back to finish. He kept his word and came out the following Saturday, finished the job , cleaned up the roof and left the place as clean as when he came. Later my husband climbed up to check on everything. He was very pleased with the work done. We waited until the next heavy rain to see how his work would solve our leak around the flashing and chimney. It's fixed. I forgot to mention that after he finished I mistakenly thought we were getting chimney caps as well. Luckily, he clearly showed me on our bid that IT DID NOT include them. He was very nice about MY mistake and was cool, calm and as nice as can be by offering to come out again to put them on. Not only does he do A++ work, his attitude and professionalism is sure to keep him in a very successful business.
Description of Work: Aaron Woodward found and fixed the problem to the stains that were appearing where the ceiling meets the chimney in our living room during heaving rain. He cleaned, mortared and sealed our chimney, repaired and sealed the crown, serviced the flashing, and installed 2 stainless chimney covers.

Aaron is great! My first call to him was to resolve a stinky fireplace. He worked me into his busy schedule and got the job done--no smell and no mess. Aaron did a thorough check of both of my old chimneys and we made a plan for further repairs--masonry and caps. He just completed this work and I am thoroughly pleased. Aaron does expert work. He is timely, professional, personable and a joy to work with.

Aaron is great. He is extremely personable, and he explains everything clearly. It is his business, and it is clear that his primary concern is to make the customer happy. He did the work himself, and he is meticulous. Overall the experience was perfect or better.
Description of Work: Aaron sealed the chimney brickwork, as we were getting efflorescence on the inside of the chimney in the living room. He also patched two cracks on the crown and caulked a joint on the front of the house. The sealer is guaranteed for 10 years.

Professional, Courteous and Easy to talk to is a great way to describe all the employees that I had contact with in getting this job done. Chimeny did not have a damper, and I needed a cap to keep the air and rain out. This Company usually saves the weekends for bigger construction site type jobs, and since my day job is Monday to Friday I was unable to be home during the week. Aaron, the owner talked with me and was willing to schedule a Saturday for a Single Family Home Job. Above and Beyond for the customer... KUDOS to Pristine Sweeps for making me feel important. Jeremy and Mike arrived on time. During the process they would tell me what was going on and what to expect. When finished they explained the whole job and even showed me photos of the job from start to finish. Great Experience. Would use them again and again.

I just wanted a chimney sweep to clean the inside of the chimney. Aaron arrived a little late and said the upstairs fireplace didn't need cleaning, only the downstairs one, but he needed to go up on the roof and inspect the chimney from there. When he came down, he said that I needed a cap on the chimney, which was normally $169.00, but he'd give me $30 off since I was getting a cleaning too, which would make the cost $139, the same as the fee to clean the chimney. So I'm thinking I'm into this for $280. I'm not sure what he did downstairs besides clean the fireplace (how could he clean the chimney from down there?) but it didn't take long, and when he wrote up the bill, imagine my surprise when he said it's $470! He said that since there were two fireplaces, there were two flues and they both needed to be capped. This was the first I'd heard of two caps! So without asking if I wanted two (I would have declined both, I think) he went ahead and put two in. I'm on a fixed income, and this was already more than I counted on. Also, the second, "surprise" cap was at the regular price of $169.00! I was pretty upset, so he reduced the price of the second one to $139, too. He also recommended work on the masonry, and I may have it done, but it certainly won't be by this company! I feel victimized and won't use them again!

Response from Pristine Sweeps LLC
Member, Thank you for posting this review. My name is Aaron and I am the owner of this company. First I would like to say how sorry I am that I made you feel this way. I assure you this was not my intention and is an honest misunderstanding. I started this company as a result of having worked for another company that used to make their customers feel this way on a day to day basis. When I arrived the first thing I did was inspect your upstairs fireplace which had light use and didn't need cleaning (this is where that other company would have disagreed with me). Then I swept your downstairs chimney, which was extremely dirty. I started from the roof and swept the chimney down to the smoke chamber (this was the part you must not have seen) I then came inside and swept the smoke chamber, smoke shelf, firebox and removed all ashes. Concerning the cap misunderstanding: You were missing caps for both your fireplaces so I offered you cap"s" and stated the price per cap, you must have only heard "cap" or else you would have expressed your concern earlier. This is a common problem (and I admit I must work on being much more clear about this). You have ONE chimney that serves TWO fireplaces which have their own flues, this is the reason for the second cap. Again, I assumed you knew this but I admit I should have been much more clear. As far as the discount on the first cap but not the second: Our "On-Site Discout" is simply a discount we offer our customers for purchasing additional services that we can complete during the initial service visit. This allows us to not have to incur the expense of a return visit and it is the same whether you were buying 1 cap or 10 caps (since it is only 1 trip either way). When I realized you were surprised by the second cap I did offer to remove it and delete the charge on the invoice. But rather we agreed on a second $30 discount that I offered because of the mistakes I had made (mentioned above). You purchased both caps and seemed to be happy when I left. Again, I am extremely sorry that we made you feel this way and am still offering a removal of one or both caps with a full refund in order to remedy the situation. All companies make mistakes, however, I believe what separates a good company from a bad one is the ability to admit the mistake, offer a solution, and work diligently to not repeat the mistake with future customers. I am available by both phone and email and am looking forward to speaking with you soon. Happy Holidays. 206-574-8414; pristinesweeps@gmail.com

I found them through Angie's List. I made an appointment with them and they had a good pricing. I was going by the great reviews on Angie's List and the rating that they had. They made an appointment with me very quickly. They came out. They were very clean and very prompt. They told me that my chimney was really clean. He almost bordered it on that it did not need a cleaning and left it on to me. I thought that it was extremely honest of them. I went ahead anyway and had it cleaned. He went ahead and installed the chimney cap. He was very quick. He even took the time to explain the workings of the chimney to me. They did not leave a mess or anything. So, I was very happy and I would call them again.
Description of Work: I used the services of Pristine Sweeps LLC on the 2nd of November 2011. They swept my chimney and installed the chimney cap.

I was very pleased with the quality of work and professionalism. They arrived when they said they would, did what they said they were going to do, with no impact (soot, etc.) on the interior or exterior of my house. I might have found someone to do the work a little cheaper, but it was worth the peace of mind knowing that these guys are real professionals. I'll definitely be a repeat customer.

Description of Work: Contacted Pristine Sweeps via email from Angie's List site. Had a same day response and set up an appointment for a free inspection. I got their name off Angie's List. He typically charges for the estimate but he didn't do that because we are going to use him. The owner is Aaron and he is really knowledgeable about fireplace and chimney codes. He knows whether something needs code or not and the best way to update a chimney and fireplace so that it is up to code. He is really friendly, respectful and professional. There was a little bit of mis-communication between us but I wouldn't blame him for that. The guy that I talked to over the phone was really nice and friendly and returned my calls.

Overall I like the results of Aaron's work. He promptly responded to my initial email and was out within the week. Aaron gave me the break down of the most critical problem areas and offered a few suggestions to help in my decision. I thought it over and decided to accept his bid. It would be another week before he could come out and begin the work but since I am no longer using the fireplace that was fine. He arrived when he said he would and began tearing down the chimney. Once he was up there tearing things apart, he could see the condition was worse off than his initial evaluation. In the process, some of the brick did fall apart just due to its age and condition. He replaced what he could and the project looks great. With all of the surprises the job did take a little longer than expected but I would rather have it completed properly than just thrown together. The last thing he has to do is put a sealant on the bricks to protect them from the elements. I will for sure use his services again.
Description of Work: Aaron removed the old crown and mortar and reset with new bricks and mortar. He added two standard caps. Sponge Cleaned and Acid Washed chimney and replaced fireplace Flashing. Aaron also conducted a Chimney Sweep, and Waterproofed with Chimney Saver Seal.

Overall, our experience was good. When Aaron came to give the initial estimate, he was very clear about what he would do and explained it in a way that a layperson could understand--this made me confident that he knew what he was doing. He also gave us the option of getting a custom chimney cap, which took a little longer, but was more cost effective for us, in addition to giving our chimney a nicer look. Scheduling the service was based upon the arrival of the chimney cap, so we didn't get scheduled as early as we would have liked, but that was not a big issue. On the day of the service, however, I believe it took a longer time for the service to be completed because it seemed like he left several times in order to take phonecalls; this was the only drawback to the experience. And, as mentioned above, before the chimney cap adhesive had time to fully cure, a windstorm knocked it off; Aaron came back promptly to reattach it at no extra cost.
Description of Work: Aaron from Pristine sweeps performed a deep cleaning on one of our chimneys and a regular cleaning on the other. He also fixed the masonry on the inside of one fireplace. Finally, he ordered a custom chimney cap for our chimneys and installed that. Soon after our service was completed, a strong windstorm blew the newly installed cap off the chimney; he happily came back and reintalled it for free.

Very professional, and, for what is a pretty filthy job, they left the place as clean as it was before they came.
Description of Work: Swept main chimney and inspected all other chimneys. Gave advice on tuck-pointing chimney and sealing interior with steel lining, possibly an insert. My wife and I had already decided to get an insert (haven't yet), so now we just have to save up for the work involved. I will probably go with Pristine Sweeps again when we finally get around to getting the chimney in shape.

Left a voice message and called back after few days to schedule the appointment. The tech reached 2hrs before the scheduled appointment. Sadly, I was not ready as was planning to cover everything around the fireplace. The tech was dressed in 100% black, including gloves and sox. The actual cleaning took less than 5min to complete. Post cleaning, I found several peaces of soot on the carpet and furniture. Mentioned it to the tech, but all he could say was "sorry" as he couldn't clean that stuff. PS: if possible, cover the stuff around the fireplace and all the carpet from the door to the fireplace. The tech will certainly try to protect your carpet, but with a black cloth which is likely to be covered with soot.

My only hesitation is that they recommended they a new cap, but didn't mention that a cap comes with a gas insert.

They informed us that our chimney was no longer safe for wood fires and that we needed a new cap, information we were very glad to get. We then got a gas insert. I was very pleased. I corresponded by email to schedule the appointment. When I asked about chimney caps they offered different options to make the price more affordable. They were first scheduled to come on November 24 but could not make it due to snow. They called promptly and rescheduled for the coming weekend. When the service person arrived he could not do the work because he needed help to remove the insert. They were able to schedule for the following weekend. They updated me on their arrival time and seemed very efficient and thorough. They also let me know the chimney needed resealing, but they didn't have the materials that day to do the work. We agreed they would come back when it was slower in the spring to handle that work. The only reason I gave them a lower score on pricing is because I have not needed this service before and had no experience with which to compare pricing or quality. I will be calling them again.

We had a leak in our house while we were on vacation. So I found Pristine Sweeps on Angie's list and gave them a call, 30 minutes later they were at the house.
