Pristine Sweeps came out to look at a water spot on the wall above the fireplace. A complete exam showed that the water issue is due to stucco missing on the chimney. They do not do stucco repair. They were polite and helpful, walking on the roof to get a complete look at the chimney. If the work needed was within their scope of practice I would have hired them.

Pristine sweeps were, punctual and polite throughout the many visits required to complete the work on our chimneys. The only exception was some communication with the office but they were quick to remedy my dissatisfaction.

I definitely wanted another assessment and actually got 3 more, only to discover that it definitely seemed Pristine had misdiagnosed the extent and type of work needed. I asked them to return to review their original assessment. They came (after several re-scheduled appts. over a period of more than 1 month). Upon my questioning and their re-review, they recommended what another company had recommended and apologized for having misdiagnosed what was needed. Then Aaron provided a completely new estimate (much more expensive than the company I went with who were 1st to correctly diagnose the problem). Aaron was very nice but I would not recommend using Pristine given my experience.
Description of Work: Aaron from Pristine came out with several workers and did a supposedly comprehensive assessment of what needed to be done, including a 10 pg written analysis with photos (primary need was a chimney liner).

Response from Pristine Sweeps LLC
[member name removed], Thank you so much for our feedback! I want to sincerely apologize for the issues that arose during our inspection. Improvement can only be achieved after such valuable feedback. I would like you to know this comment was a catalyst to make a giant change in our service and inspection procedure, and I would like to tell you exactly how below. The problem was (and has been): You and most of our customers originally call us out to inspect their fireplace and chimney. Most customers are not aware that their chimney also vents other appliances such as a furnace or hot water heater. We try to identify these over the phone, however, in most cases we need to wait until we are on site to know exactly what is present in your chimney. During our first appointment we spent a great deal of time inspecting your fireplace, and, during that inspection we also realized you have an oil furnace venting into the chimney as well. As a complementary service to you and all of our customers, we include all other systems and flues in our inspection for no additional charge (up to 3 flues). By the time we found the glaring issue that you had, we had ran out of time to do a more in depth inspection of the system. So, in our haste, we decided we would provide a ballpark estimate to repair the issue, with the anticipation of returning to finalize the inspection, measurements, and make a parts list. *This is where we made the mistake* We assumed your furnace chimney was constructed the same as everyone else we inspect, however, your home had one of the strangest venting systems I have ever come across for venting your oil furnace. Because we did not schedule the time to do a detailed inspection, we missed a very important issue that was buried underground and behind the foundation wall. Afterward, when you called other companies for estimates, they had the scheduled time to complete the full inspection and found the issue we overlooked. This is completely unacceptable by our standards and we have decided to make a monumental change to our inspection and service procedures. Here is what we have done: We have reduced the number of appointments we schedule for the day by 30%. This translates into us having 30% more time on each job to thoroughly inspect each and every system individually. We collect all necessary measurements and store them in your company file. We also have decided to video scan EVERY flue in your chimney system for no additional charge (up to 3 flues). This allows a more in depth inspection of your chimney system that any other company in the area. And the best part is: We didn't even raise our prices. This allows us to provide estimates, at any time, for any project from our office at an extremely expedited rate. I am sorry you were the final straw that made us realize this glaring issue. I want to sincerely apologize again and let you know that you have made a difference for many customers to come in the following years. Thank you so much for your time to write the review, and the honesty in your review. I hope you may still think of us in the future, and let us have the opportunity of making this mistake up to you. Take care, Aaron Woodward (owner) Pristine Sweeps, LLC

Aaron was great to work with! I was initially disappointed that he couldn't work on the stove that was installed in our house because it wasn't EPA certified. But the alternative would've been to hire someone who didn't care about that law, which I wasn't willing to do. So we decided to have the stove removed and now we have a more attractive hearth (albeit much less effective as heating agent). I especially liked the full report that Aaron supplied when he was done, complete with photographs and descriptions of what he observed. I would definitely hire Pristine Sweeps again, even though it seemed a little pricey.
Description of Work: Removed stove, inspected chimney and fireplace, applied protective coating to fireplace, and provided a full report with photos and recommendations.

Aaron and crew did fantastic work. The inspection provided me with all the information I was after regarding my two chimney's current condition, inside and out. I was given a detailed estimate of the suggested work. I chose to do the most pressing work. That work was scheduled and performed as promised. The site was left clean and they were very conscious of keeping soot and dirt inside the house to the lowest levels.

In hunting around to find folks to work on our chimney, it became pretty clear that there's a number of people in that line of business that are a little hard to deal with, but everybody at Pristine Sweeps was great. We had some cracking around the top of our chimney, and no crown or cap. So getting water and stuff all down in there. They came and fixed everything up pretty good, no problem. Maybe a little more debris around the place and in the gutters than I excepted to find, but I guess it can be a messy business.

great. They are in demand and I had to schedule about a week and a half out. they were on things and indicted the chimney. they advised me there wasn't enough buildup in the fireplace fire to justify a cleaning, but there was in the furnace flue, so we just cleaned that one. the inspection was pretty thorough and included a report with color photos that Andrew went through with me before accepting payment. away my request he prepared a quote for work that is needed.

Aaron was quick to respond to my email requesting an estimate. We scheduled a visit for August 1st and he arrived on time. He was very personable and we discussed the issues with the chimney and the options we would prefer. Aaron stated that he would send the estimate by the following Monday, August 5th. I never received the estimate. I called on August 9th and left a message telling him that we were still waiting for the estimate but we never heard from him again.

paid for a chimney inspection. He arrived on time, only inspected one of two chimneys, told me he would have to return to do the sweep, and would email me a quote for the requested services (sweep the chimney, install gas fireplace insert). I never received the quotes, nor did he return to do the sweep. He also neglected to inspect the second chimney. I have emailed twice (their preferred way to be contacted), but have yet to have them respond. Definitely feel ripped off.

Our chimney needed some work before we invested in a new roof. Several bricks were spalling and the mortar between the bricks had weathered away (with some help from woodpeckers) in many places. Most of the contractors from whom we solicited bids, including Pristine Sweeps, recommended rebuilding the chimney from the roof line up. Their bid was competitive and Aaron seemed to have his act together moreso than the competition in terms of his responsiveness and the thoroughness of his bid. Aaron told us the project would take two days and was able to fit us in his schedule within two weeks. He and his assistant arrived as scheduled and worked efficiently and carefully. Aaron's commitment to quality was obvious: he went to pick up new bricks (taking an old one to compare to the seller's pallet) but upon returning to our house realized that the ones provided by the seller weren't the best match so he returned the batch for a more suitable color. On day two, as they ground away old mortar to prepare to lay the new bricks, an unexpected downdraft sent dust billowing into our living room. I alerted Aaron immediately and he quickly left the roof, pulled his shopvac out of his van and brought it into the house to capture as much dust as he could before it settled. While the vac was running he helped to wipe down several of our son's toys that had dust on them. He set up a shield to prevent more dust from entering our home and apologized profusely for the inconvenience. I was impressed by how he handled this unanticipated mini-disaster; his quick actions left our living room at least as clean as it was before the dust mishap. Our new chimney looks fantastic and Pristine Sweeps will be our go-to contractor for any future chimney work.

I was very pleased with their work and the final product. They were prompt, professional, and reliable. The owner of the firm came to the job site to help with the cost estimate and he was there at least one more time to check on the progress of the work. I recommend them highly and would use them again for any future projects. the failed mortar
Description of Work: I chose Pristine Sweeps LLC to rehab (tuck-point ) my chimney. This involves chipping-out all the failed mortar and replacing it with new mortar. Clean-up is an important element because the chipping and replacing generates a lot of waste.

Aaron let me know that my chimneys were in great shape (yay!), and installed some caps so fast I couldn't believe it. He answered all my questions (I'm insatiably curious) and kindly explained how one particular code requirement has changed since my house was built. I'll definitely be calling him back to do that work, and to install a future insert once I am ready to tackle that job.

The experience overall was pretty good. It was fairly easy to get an appointment even though it was there busy season and they were able to squeeze me in at a time that was good for me. The actually chimney sweeping service seemed good, they were able to clean out a lot of build up from my chimney as well as answer several questions I had about adding a set of gas logs to my existing flu. I also asked them to remove an old furnace flu cap that was rusted out and they did it without an issue. The only complaint I have is that the chimney sweep forgot a drop cloth which wasn't a huge issue because I had one in my basement. Overall, I would use this company again.

I e-mailed with Pristine Sweeps in November, and Aaron didn't have time until a whole month later in December, so I went ahead and scheduled it. When the day came, he didn't show up, and didn't call to say he wouldn't make it. I left a voice mail asking when he'd come and he didn't call back, and subsequent attempts to call him went straight to voicemail. My wife stayed at home for several hours waiting when she could have been doing other stuff that she needed to. When people make appointments during the day, often they have to take off work to handle them. I really don't understand his aversion to using temporary help for at least customer contacts - even temporary employment helps the economy! I will be looking for someone else to sweep my chimney.

See above. Make sure you clearly understand the rates and charges, and just which services are available and unavailable, especially if you have an older installation.
Description of Work: Pristine Sweeps had cleaned my fireplace insert before in 2009. This time he charged me his full inspection fee to walk in the door, look at the insert and tell me that now that he is "certified" he can take it out to clean the chimney but could not put it back in. (Interestingly enough, they didn't take it out when they cleaned it the first time.) So, for a 10-minute look and decline he still charged me his full fee. In tne interest of full disclosure, he did ask if I wanted the rest of the inspection, but if he wasn't going to clean it, why bother. The next chimney sweep would inspect everything as well, and for his full fee. I agree that the vendor's time is valuable, but it is my opinion that the service I did receive was not worth $153.25 charged. He should have adjusted his fee to cover his time and gas for the negligible time and service. I guess I should have been more diligent up front, but having had no issues with their previous service, I had no reason to do so. My bad for that. Subsequently, we went to Thompson's Home and Hearth to check out new inserts. We also carried 8x10 pictures of our current installation and found out that, although we could not install our insert today, it has been grandfathered in under current code, and so could have been cleaned.
