The final cost of the floors came in @ $300+ more than the initial contract. The general contractor explained that the carpet selected was $300+ pricier than what they based their initial contract bid on. However, during the selection process, Shelton Floors presented us with carpet samples which they claimed cost within the range of their initial contract bid and we made our selection from those samples. I do not feel that the additional cost of $300+ was justified. The installers did not vacuum the carpet when they finished. The carpets in all the rooms were covered with little pieces of loose thread & scraps from the installation process and it looked a mess when they were done. I have had carpet installed in three other homes in the past, from three different installers and I have NEVER walked into a mess when the installation was completed, until this job. We were satisfied with the end result of the Laminate floor installation. Shelton Floors did a nice job of removing the old linoleum floor and leveling the floor before installing the laminate. As this was a vacant home at the time of installation, we schedueled a time each day to meet the installers at the house and provide access. We had to drive 75 miles to the home each time we arranged to meet the installers at the house to let them inside. The installer was one to two hours late each day. The inability to show up when scheduled is unprofessional and rude. Unjustified cost overrun, lack of punctuality, and leaving the place a mess is why I give Shelton Floors a D- rating.

Installation was supposed to be on a Friday per serveral conversations and confimations. Did not show up for schedule date. Called after an hour of waiting. They said they would have to reschedule. Very upset after rescheduling other subs so that they would be able to be in house on Friday. They rescheduled for following week. Very dissappointed in quaility of installation of carpet. Trim was very dark and the carpet installer made a lot of scratches in trim. Transitions boards were not installed had to call to have them installed. Still no transition piece between carpet and tile. They did not place laminate under counter. After telling them that there is laminate there they ended up having to put a large transition piece instead a flowing laminate of hardwood. I have made several phone calls to owner in regards to questions about installation always having to leave a message because they have caller ID. It's been 5 months worth of messages on no return phone calls.
Description of Work: Vinyl, laminate and carpet.

In an old 1943 home, the original floors were uneven and included worn and damaged hardwood and layers of linoleum. Shelton Floor Covering's owner is Blaine Fladager, who is the chief installer, and is assisted by his sons at the store and in installations. Blaine is rare these days, as he is truly a trustworthy craftsman, with many years of experience and a big heart, too. He reassured us that the flooring issues were solvable and not as bad as we feared. He has his contractor's license, so he knows more than typical installers.
Description of Work: Removed old flooring, repaired uneven floors, and installed new engineered hardwood and tile in an old house, with attention to detail and a good price.
