Larry does several houses in the neighborhood. His work looks great and I got a contract for him to do my Mom's house in March of 2013. I live in Louisiana and Mom's house is in Port Angeles WA. My stepsister went to the house in October and told Larry not to do the lawn anymore. But that sale fell through and so we did need the lawn and garden tended too. . I had to go to Port Angeles in March of 2014, one year after I moved Mom out her house to Louisiana. The yard looked OK but it was dormant for the winter. I saw Larry working on a yard behind Mom's house and I went over to talk with him. He told me my stepsister had fired him and so he stopped doing the yard. I told Larry that I am the only one who could fire him. I asked him to start doing the lawn and garden again. Since he missed 4 months of work, months that the lawn is dormant but Larry and his crew do trimming and deep edging during those months, now in March of 2014 the yard the yard looked terrible. Larry said he could do the catch up work. I told him to start doing the catch since the Apple, Pear and Cherry trees needed to be trimmed. The next Saturday Larry showed up, without calling, along with two young teenagers. After I got out to the yard the teens were pulling weeds from an area where there were no plants. I asked Larry why he was weeding this area and if he was going to plant other things there. Larry said he planned to. I asked Larry how much he was going to charge for this lawn and garden work since this is outside of regular maintenance. If I had Larry for the entire year he would have charged $200.00 per month which is $800.00. Larry told me he would charge $35.00 per hour. He did just that but did not mention that this was per man or $70.00 per hour for two men. The bill came to $1,372.88. I had asked him to itemize each service since I had to explain to my step sister what I paid him to do since I have to split the costs with my stepsister. I got some sort of small receipt out of a generic sales book and he wrote in almost unreadable handwriting. He did break down the bill with the regular on a different line from the bill from the catch up work. It still came as a big surprise to know the bill was $1372.88. One of my Mom's former caregivers went past the house and told me it looked great. But then the realtor called me and told me the yard looked neglected. She asked me if weeding and trimming are part of the service Larry was supposed to do. I told her actual weeding is not that big of the deal on the lawn. but weeding the flower bed was important. The realtor sent me some images of the yard and I see the plants are growing over the edge of the walk and there were weed taking over the flower beds. Since the sale of the house is June 30, 2014 I really don't want to change lawn care service for just one month but from the images it looks like Larry is not doing anything anyway. I had Larry clean the carpets and everyone said they look really good. The cost was very reasonable, $150.00 to do the living room, dining room, hall, bedroom and the bathroom. Larry did a good job at a good at a fair price on the carpets.
Description of Work: We had a monthly contract for lawn and garden maintenance. But due to some error Larry thought that he was not needed since he was told the house was sold. But house did not sell and I needed the lawn and garden taken care of since the house was going to be on the market soon.

wThe house he is maintaining belongs to my mother's estate and it is vacant. Larry's lawn Maintenance has kept up with the lawn for almost a year. I live in Louisiana and can only rely on the word of neighbors and friends who check on the house. The yard work was OK except that some trimming of the bushes was not done during the off season for the grass. One day a friend checked the house and found an area of soft ground near where the water line enters the house. I called Larry and asked if he did such work. He said he could handle it, "I am a professional." Larry made an appointment to meet someone who had the key to the house. My friend waited for 1 hour and Larry did not show up. Finally after a few attempts Larry and my friend met and Larry checked under the house for leaks from the plumbing. He found non under the house After about 5 or 6 weeks I found out that the hole was filled and no one has done the lawn or since it is off season for the grass, someone should have been doing other maintenance like pruning the shrubs. I do not know if Larry intends to come back when the lawn starts to grow or if I should hire someone else. Sincerely Daniel Rawinsky 985 290 6172
Description of Work: There was some evidence of a water leak near where the water main enters the house. The ground was wet and muddy. I needed Larry to find and fix the leak. He found the leak and I asked him for an estimate before he started the job. I later found that he had started the job and thought he might need an excavator to dig the hole over the water line that seemed to have a leak. Next thing I know the realtor e-mailed me and asked why there was a huge hole in the front yard. I told her that there was a water leak and that I had called Larry to fix it. Apparently Larry dug a hole 4' by 4' and found the water link and fixed the leak with a repair sleeve. Larry did not give me an estimate. The next month I got the bill for the lawn care, $200.00 and on the same piece of paper, not a real receipt, he added $600.00 for finding and repairing the leak. I called Larry and left a message that I needed a real receipt with the name of his company and the phone number. I sent Larry a check for $200.00 for lawn care. A few weeks later I got another bill from Larry, on the same generic bill, stating that he checked the house and yard for leaks and found a leak in front of the house where the water line enters the house. I sent Larry a check for $600.00 for the repair of the water leak. Larry added that there were other water leaks but that the owner told him not to fix those leaks, and get the hole filled. I never got another bill from Larry, I do not know if he intends to start doing the lawn when the grass starts to grow again.
