Jack's Painting

Jack did a great job. He price was very reasonable, He gave me good advice on color choices.

Battled off and on sprinkles but Jack managed to finish exterior painting in a very reasonable time. Great job on a home that has not been painted in 30 years. People passing by have said it looks like a new home - what a difference.

This rating concerns the interior work only, as once he finished that we decided to hire someone else to do the exterior work as well as fix the many deficiencies in the interior work. Workmanship was okay in the big areas, such as walls and ceilings. When it came to the finish work, such as cutting in around doors and windows, it was sloppy, if done at all (many areas he simply left unpainted), with runs, visible brush strokes, and paint slopped on doors and hinges. In painting the closets, he would paint the areas one could see readily upon opening the closet, but not finish painting the tops of shelves (paint would not go clear to the edge of the shelves), and not paint the wall sides and tops that are not visible when you open the closet doors. Painting around light fixtures and outlets was sloppy and patchy and there were a number of "holidays" in the paint of the walls and ceiling of the master bedroom, which necessitated a second coat by the second painter we hired. The utility room walls only had one coat. None of the walls, ceilings or windows had any prep; whatever was there was simply painted over. Any prep that was done I did myself after noticing the first day that he was not doing it. I felt bad for him that he had just lost his assistant, so volunteered to clean and prep the window frames. Later, I found he had painted over scotch tape in one room, and dirty baseboards...there was no sign that he did any prep on anything whatsoever. He did not remove light fixtures or outlet covers either; after the first day when I saw he had sprayed two light fixtures in the family room, I removed all the rest of the fixtures and covers myself. The materials he used were low quality. I had asked for semi-gloss or satin on the window and door frames, and he said he used a low sheen paint that would clean just as easily. Being ignorant of whether or not that was true, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I learned from the second painter that Jack used the least expensive, contractor grade, low sheen paint, and that it was NOT as cleanable as good old semi-gloss. He also used it on the ceiling of both bathrooms he refinished; the second painter then had to repaint them with a semi-gloss, as that will repel moisture there far better than the product Jack used. In conclusion, this was the worst experience I had in hiring work done on my house, and I would not recommend him to anyone. I bear some of the responsibility, as I was ignorant of what I should expect and continued to give him the benefit of the doubt long after I should have put a stop to it..

We can't imagine someone else doing such a exceptional job. Jack was punctual, professional, honest and had a great sense of humor. We were extremely blessed to have found him on Angie's List. We're going to use him again to paint the remaining rooms in our house. Jack's simply the BEST!

They look wonderful. It really adds class to my home. I am very picky about painting, having done a lot myself, and Jack more than meets my standards. I plan to have him back to repaint more trim and doors in my home.

We purchased an older home requiring some interior refreshing. We were not yet occupying the home and not otherwise able to be present during the job. Jack did an excellent job, performed the work on time, was honest and reliable in all respects. We plan on using his services again, and I recommend him highly.

They were very reasonalby priced (most people would charge double), easy to work with, and did an awesome job. I was especially impressed as he was able to do great work while I was not in the home. They give great customer service, and I would highly recommend them. We plan to have them out later this year to stain our deck.

Jack is a wonderful painter. He has great suggestions for colors and finishes. He's very easy to work with. A true craftsman. He and his assistant Chris work well together. Fast and efficient. We would recommend Jack and definitely use him in the future.

As an Angie?s List member I have engaged the services of a number of businesses through the directory and have always been well served. When I needed a painter I decided to go with my father?s recommendation of Jack?s Painting and was not disappointed in that case either. I had already been aware that dad had done a lot of business with Jack and had always been happy with his work. Dad also regarded Jack as a very nice and very likable person. Jack came to my home and gave me an estimate and I gave him samples of the colors that I wanted. I had to work the day that Jack wanted to start the job and dad told me that he believed there was no reason for me to feel uncomfortable about leaving Jack alone in the house to do the work. When I returned from work Jack had already left for the day. He had finished the ceilings and had put the color on several of the walls, but I was disappointed to see that the color was not right. When Jack arrived the next day and compared the sample I had given him with what was on the walls, he agreed that the color had not been properly mixed and immediately set about making it right. These efforts, along with having to repaint the walls, cost him a considerable amount of time, probably the equivalent of an entire days work in the end. It was a cost that he did not pass along to me. When I received his bill it was the exact amount of his original quote. He stated more than once that his top priority was that I was happy with the work. Needless to say he is the only painter that dad and I will ever use and we will pass his name along to anybody we know that is looking for a painter. Jack is the best!

He is honest and I have no problem leaving him in the house if I needed to run an errand. Jack is an over all nice guy, clean and hones.
