Description of Work: Had cracks in my foundation due to poor stormwater drainage and Wu Construction was highly recommended by two different people. Thomas showed up for the estimate and gave a thorough description of what would needed to be done Day of, They showed up on time, did great work, and was very impressed with their work. They installed two footers at the ends and all new underground drains for stormwater runoff. Probably going to call and ask for another bid shortly to handle a new drain project!
Description of Work: A channel drain needed to be installed.

Dave came out and had a quick look and I pointed out the where Rescue Rooter said my breaks were. He said he was suspicious about Rescue Rooter's analysis, saying that broken sewer lines are much more common in houses over 80 years old than ones that are 47 years old like mine is. He recommended that I call a company called Hydro Physics to come and analyze the line independently, saying that they'd also be able to mark exactly where those supposed breaks were, so even if there were actual breaks, this would let Wu Construction know exactly where they'd need to dig, which could make a big difference. I called Hydro Physics, and for $195, they came out and scoped my pipe, marked the relevant locations exactly, and gave us a detailed analysis including a DVD. They found that roots were coming in from a seam between pipes, not in an actual break as Rescue Rooter claimed. The other spot that Rescue Rooter identified as a break was actually just a T-joint where our sewer line met the common line. They said that I'd do just fine using some Root-X once annually and perhaps having the pipe rooted once every few years as needed, and said he'd be able to give a recommendation for companies that would do that much cheaper than anyone with "Rooter" in their name. Kudos to Wu Construction for recommending an independent analysis from a reputable company and not just giving us an estimate for work without asking critical questions. Their honesty saved us thousands of dollars!
Description of Work: I had previously called Rescue Rooter to unclog my sewer line, and they told me that the reason there were roots growing into it was that I had two breaks in my sewer pipe, for which they wanted to charge almost $7200 just to fix one. I called Wu Construction to give me an competing estimate.

Andy came out to do an estimate the day after I called and was the first person to say "this is not a big deal and simple to fix," which was nice to hear when we were panicked after getting so much water in the basement of our new house. The estimate was very reasonable, and they were able to schedule the installation for later that week. The crew arrived on time and was professional and courteous. They took special care to keep my house clean as it was a rainy, muddy day, including entering the house through a hatch in the deck and using some external stairs that run under the deck. They worked quickly, finishing in about 5 1/2 hours, and left the room as neat as possible. So far the system has worked well but we're looking forward to seeing it function under extreme rain.

They were quite good. Their representative came out to talk to us about our foundation. He was very good and gave us a lot information about our situation which was very helpful. He knew that his company couldn't provide the service that we wanted, but he was very helpful about giving us information of who to contact and what kind of work probably needs to be done. So, I had a good experience with them. If need be, then I would contact them in the future too.

He came out very quickly to take a look at the work. The guy seemed to really know what he was doing. He had good thoughts about what he could do to fix our problem. His bid was a little bit high, but based upon recommendations and reviews we've seen, we are asking him to do the work. We did have a miscommunication about when the work was going to be scheduled. I thought it was today and they said a week from today. I wasn't too happy about that, but they were very quick to address the concern and they are going to come out tomorrow. We'll see where we go from there.

Our basement flooded. They rented us a dehumidifier and commercial fan for cheap. Someone came out to evaluate our drainage situation and give us an estimate. We've used them before. They're so easy to work with, nice and reasonable. They said our flood was probably a one time thing (due to a neighbors garden hose that was running unattended for days) and that work wasn't really needed.

I found Wu Construction in Angies List and decided to give them a try. Dave (from the company) was able to come out the next day to give me an estimate. The price seemed a little high (but I don't really know the thought process behind this), but the description of the work seemed robust. I called back a week later to schedule the job and they said that they could probably come out the following week, but would give me a call when they had a better idea of their own schedule. A few days later they called again and scheduled to come out Friday the following week. On Monday of that week, I got a call from Wu saying that they had a last minute cancellation and asked if they could do the work that day instead of Friday. I'm thankful that they were able to do that because we had a pretty nasty rainstorm that evening and the next day where water might have gotten into the crawl space. They called me later that and left a message saying they needed access to a plug (I have no outdoor outlets) to saw some wood. When I called back, I got their voice mail and said that I wouldn't be able to get home to supply them an extension cord. My initial thought was that they wouldn't be able to do the work without it so I assumed they would postpone the work until Friday. But when I got home Monday, the work seemed practically complete! I say practically because something seemed off. I called Wu the next day and they said the work was in fact complete, but that the crew might have left some form boards up for the new concrete forms and that they would be by in a couple of days to remove them. Sure enough, three days later the form boards are gone and the new access (and cover to the access) of the crawl space looks absolutely superb. The price still seems a little steep, but you get what you pay for and I feel like I got a very high quality result in the end. So long as I can afford it, I would use these guys again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Collapsed foundation repair around access to crawl space of my home.
When I first contacted them, they told me to try having the line snaked first. After this was done and I got some clues about what the problem might be, I contacted them on Friday. Dave Maple came out on Wednesday, gave an estimate, and he and Kina did the work on Thursday. They used a camera with a signal emitter to find the end of the pipe. They tested the system after fixing the French drain at the end, and figured out that there was another clog further up. They exposed the last downspout's T, found the clogged part, and put in 2 Y's-one for the downspout, one for periodic clean out with my garden hose. They tested the system drainage again, and found everything worked. The drains work fine now.
Description of Work: My downspout drainage system was backing up, dumping water into my crawlspace. Dave Maple and Kina located two clogs, one under the last downspout and one at the French drain near the street curb. They replaced the clogged section and installed two catch basins (connected by a pipe running downhill and parallel to the curb) with proper drainage to the street. All digging was done by hand, so the water mains were not in danger of being broken.

Overall, the result was good, but management at the job site was poor. Workers left all lunch garbage right where they ate. I made several specific requests of the foreman which were roundly ignored. They had to return to move one drain line to where I'd asked that it be run initially. They tried a "quick fix" on a broken sprinkler line and had to return 3 times before it was finally fixed. I showed the foreman where I wanted the excess dirt placed, and he put it where he thought it should go instead. Foreman complained endlessly to me about the size of the job, the cost of material, and on and on. Andy, the manager, and Dave, the sales guy were both helpful. They are professional and intended to do the right thing. The end result was fine. I would use them again, but would ask for a different foreman.

He came in and did some caulking, roofing work as well as fixing my water heater. Again, he was punctual and I believe his pricing was fair. He was professional and left the work area clean.
Description of Work: WU provided pre-inspection services for items in my home.
It was during the heavy rain in early December 2007. I woke up on Monday to half my basement with about .5 inches of water. I didn't call Victor until the next day-I was too busy hanging carpet tiles and getting rid of the water. He came in two hours. He had many calls on Monday but was available to start the work on Friday. I decided to have them start the following Tuesday. It took them only one day to take out drywall, break up the concrete, lay the pipe and rocks, put in new concrete. It was at least 50 feet of drainage work. They also redirected my downspouts to away from the home. I'm getting landscaping done in the next couple of months so those pipes will be buried. I had another contractor do the finish work: painting the basement floor and walls, drywall work, reinstalling and painting trim, and reinstalling the carpet tiles. I was very happy with their work. It was fast.

Wu was able to get us on their schedule in quick time (within one week). They arrived at 8:30 a.m. and the work was completed by 5 p.m. (as promised). So far, it seems like everything is working great, but we'll need to live through a few serious rainstorms to see how the new system really works. The work crew was efficient and friendly. There were language barriers with the workers but the foreman, who was on and off-site throughout the day, spoke English and communicated things clearly. They were also relatively good about cleaning up, and the landscaping repair that we will have to do in the spring is pretty minimal.
Description of Work: We had some water leaking into our basement and Wu came out to give us an estimate. They suggested having French drains and sump pump installed in our basement, but also suggested we have our downspouts re-routed away from our house. We chose to do the latter project first, and then watch and see if we still have water issues in the basement. They dug ditches, installed pipe and re-routed all the downspouts to dry wells at the ends of our property.

Dave Maple came out to inspect the property and wrote up an estimate which was better than the other two I received. One of the other companies would not give any warranty whatsoever but Wu gave me a "5 year warranty on free flow of drainage pipe". The crew of 3 did all the work by hand which included bringing all the dirt out with buckets because there was no room for a wheelbarrow. They had to bring the new gravel in the same way. There were sprinkler pipes in the way which they had to deal with but they were careful and didn't break any. They installed 2 clean-outs; one at each corner of the garage so it will be easy to push a garden hose into the pipes and flush the silt out. They completed the job in one day, as expected, and cleaned up the yard before leaving. I found Wu Construction on Angie's List an am very glad I spent the time to do it. I am very pleased with this company and will definitely hire them again for any future drain work.
Description of Work: A trench drain was installed around the perimeter of my garage including a long run of solid pipe to transport the water to a hole filled with gravel in an area where it naturally seeps into the soil and runs down hill away from the yard. They also installed 2x8 treated lumber all along the uphill side of the drain to hold back the soil which used to accumulate and pile up against the garage due to the steep hill. This was extra work that had not been included in the original estimate so they did it at no charge. I was very impressed! One problem did come up when they first arrived to do the work. The foreman realized that the area where the water was to be drained away from the building was not going to work out well. So he had to find an alternate area and this required digging a longer ditch and more pipe. However, he gave me a good break on the price and it didn't add very much to the total. They also did some free work later: see below.

We received bid from 3 companies and the prices varied from $1316 up to $2400. We couldn't see any difference in product or layout of the drainage pipes to justify this huge difference to we chose Wu Construction. We were very happy with the job they did.
Description of Work: We had 3 gutters that were each draining a few feet from our house above the ground. Fortunately, we hadn't had any water in our basement yet! Wu Const. added 3 downspouts with a clean-out basin in the ground. They hand dug the trenches (a relief because it was above the gas line; the other company had planned to use a back hoe) and laid the new pipe above the old broken down system and piped the water onto the street gutter. Everything was completed quickly, quietly and neatly within 5 hours.

We were very pleased with the company's responsiveness. The work was done within one week of the time we accepted their bid. They were careful to minimize the damage to landscaping. They seemed very concerned to do a job that we would be happy with. The three man crew finished the work in a day.
Description of Work: We had a problem with downspouts backing up on one side of our house. We first tried a roto-rooter service, but that was unsuccessful. We decided we needed to install a new drain pipe to provide drainage to the street. Wu's bid was significantly below other bids. They excavated trenches for the plastic drain pipe, tied in all the downspouts on one side of the house into the new drain. They restored the gravel path and minimized the effect on landscaping.

Estimator was helpful and the work was done quickly and proficiently. Work was expensive for the amount of time it took (3 hours), but estimator was able to devise a solution without digging through concrete or re-running new pipe through the driveway.
