We received a personal confirmation e-mail on the same day of purchasing he big deal; welcoming us with contact information and inviting us to schedule an appointment. We had a straight forward project, rerouting and updating some bathroom electrical fixtures. Brian Wickman arrived promptly and the work was performed expertly and efficiently to our full satisfaction.
Description of Work: We purchased an Angie's List Big Deal; $99.00 for up to two hours of electrical labor.

Job went very well. He provided estimates for work that would go over and went and picked up the materials to complete the job.

Great. Brian is excellent. My reasons for him to come seemed pointless once I replaced the old lights. He was understanding of explanation on his arrival but asked if there was anything else he could do, as I had already paid for his services through The Big Deal. I did have him take care of two things that I wanted addressed. As I still had time, I also had him double check the lights I had called him to repair in the first place. While all was fine, he did suggest an upgrade which I had him do. He was quick and efficient with his work. What I appreciated most was after he was done, he told me what his hourly rate was and it would have been cheaper (as he was finished within an hour and I had purchased two hours). While true, I told him that I probably wouldn't have called his company if he I hadn't seen the Big Deal. I will use him in the furture, so the $99 was well worth the cost to me.
Description of Work: I purchased two hours of electrical work thru Angie's List Big Deal. Between the time I purchased the Big Deal and had the work done, I discovered that my "electrical problem" was no more than old flourensent lights that needed to be replaced. I had Brian, the owner, come on the scheduled day and time anyway. First, I told him that my problem was fixed, so could he look at a light socket that kept shorting out. He did. He discovered a bit of melted metal and it was quickly replaced. As that took all of 15 minutes, I asked if he could quickly take a look in the attic to confirm if I had older wiring (my house was built 1944). He did that. We discussed what a whole house rewiring would mean should I want to pursue that with an estimate that needed to be scheduled another time. As there was still time on the clock (he could have easily left), I had him check out the light fixture that I had originally scheduled to be repaired or replaced. While all was fine, he did recommend to upgrade the balast and use more energy efficient lights. I had him do that replacement (and I have to say, I am glad I did. The lights are much brighter and no more flickering when they are turned on).

Description of Work: He installed under the cabinet lights in my kitchen! When I called him he advised me on parts and lighting I had researched. I bought my coupon and he was prompt, professional and stayed a bit longer in a busy day to fix an indoor and an outdoor outlet!

I thought it went extremely well. Brian is professional, punctual, organized and knowledgeable...everything you want in a contractor. He didn't try to upsell on needless services and a really great job. Our theater looks and sounds great! I won't hesitate to call him again for our future electrical projects and would highly recommend his work...in fact I already have to two of my neighbors.
Description of Work: This review is long overdue....sorry Brian! I saw an add for Wickman Electric as an AngiesList coupon and since I already had some projects in mind, decided to give Brian a call. I got his assistant and left my name and number and was called back the same day....good start. I always wonder if contractors are doing so well that they can afford to so often not return a phone call for work for days. Anyway, Brian calls me back the same day and I ask him about the coupon. He says that they were sold out (I guess AngiesList coupons have limited numbers...l had no idea). Brian was nice enough to offer to honor the coupon anyway. We schedule some time for him to come by and estimate the various jobs I had in mind. Brian shows up right on time and we start to down my list of separate jobs which include additional light switches, addition of outdoor lighting, addition of receptacles and in-wall wiring for home theater. I ask Brian a ton of questions and he very patiently answers them all. What I really appreciated here was not only Brian's willingness to answer my questions, but that he appeared to know all about the electrical code for the work. With the in-wall wiring, he didn't try to pitch me any nonsense about needing to run a CAT5 to HDMI conversion for a run under 10 feet...which I've had other contractors try to convince me of. I tend to do a lot of research about the jobs I hire people to do for me and Brian seemed happy to hear my probing questions instead of exasperated or annoyed. That went a long way in selling me on his services. Before be leaves, he offers to send a written work proposal with all the cost breakdown. Now I've been promised work proposals from contractors before and have either received nothing or received a fairly underwhelming array of poorly written documents that inaccurately detail the work we talked about. For one job, a contractor, when presses for a work proposal, literally hand wrote it on a crumpled strap of paper! Again Brian builds my trust in him by sending me a very neatly formatted and concise work proposal breaking each of the jobs in to its own section and separating the labor from the materials. I was impressed. Before deciding on which jobs to proceed with, I had some questions. Now when I say 'some' what I really mean is I had a TON of questions. Not all at once, but I end up trading easily a dozen email with Brian asking questions and then asking more based on his responses. Brian patiently answered very single one without becoming agitated or impatient and not once did he press me to make a decision on doing any of the work. I end up deciding on the in-wall wiring which involved running 14 gauge in-wall rated speaker wire to my 4 wall mounted speakers, putting in an HDMI wall plate and running the HDMI to the back of my tv, putting in a 5.1 wall plate and adding a surge protected receptacle behind the tv. On the day of the job, Brian shows up early and gets right to work. He anticipates this to be a one day job. He gets it done by EOD the same day. The work looked very good and the price was very reasonable....especially since he honored the coupon. He did a very nice job cleaning up all the dust and debris as well. He had to cut holes in the wall to run the wire, but he put the cutout pieces of drywall back which made the patching super easy. He was very up front about the need to patch the drywall so no surprises there and he even recommended a drywall contractor that did a really great job patching and matching the texturing. The carpet around the floor trim where he ran the wire is a bit frayed, but again, he was very up front about not being a carpet guy and that we'd likely need to call in some pros of we wanted the carpet back to exactly the way it was. All in all its not hugely noticeable and since he was up front about it before the work began, I wasn't upset about. He cracked one of the floor trims when he pulled it off, but we have those really thin old trim so its surprising more of them didn't get damaged. Overall, he did a really nice job, on time and on budget.

I contacted Wickman electric based on positive review from Angie's list and a promotional coupon. Brian completed several projects on my list: replacing about 10 fixtures, hung chandelier in dining area, replaced fire/carbon monoxide alarm. Very pleased with his work, clean, careful, made helpful recommendations- providing information on current safety codes and options in different price ranges; but never pushy. Also asked Brian to install wall mounted tv (wiring hidden behind the wall) and again was really pleased with the work he did. Would not hesitate to refer Wickman Electric and would use him again.
Description of Work: I have hired Brian to complete several projects on a couple of different dates including: replace multiple fixtures (5 recessed lights in kitchen, under cabinet fixture, dining room chandelier, 3 outdoor fixtures, bathroom fixture); carbon monoxide/fire alarm. He also installed wall mounted television (wall mount, tv, behind the wall wiring, replaced cable wires).

It's a little embarrassing really. Simple fix, 5 minutes for the whole job. I could have done it myself easily if I had just thought about it. Oh well, learned my lesson. The repairman was very nice, and seemed competent, though this wasn't a tough test. I would call him again for another problem.

After buying my first place I had several things on my list that I needed to get repaired by a qualified electrician. There was nothing urgent, but when I saw the Angie's List Big Deal it was just the excuse I needed to try out an electrical firm so I would have someone to call when it really was urgent. After purchasing the Big Deal I received an email from Wickman Electric to set-up an appointment. Despite their extremely packed schedule (due to all the Big Deal purchases) they were able to give me a morning appointment fairly quickly. Brian showed up right on time, fixed everything on my list in an hour, worked well on his own, and the guy was so tall he could change my lightbulbs (which I thought were non-functioning sockets) without a ladder! He rewired outside plugins that were not working, fixed an outside light, and even sent me follow-up information for items that would help me with my electrical needs in the future (like the best lightbulbs for my house, etc...). He also gave me time and part estimates for other small projects I had ideas for - like putting a dog door in the wall out to my balcony. Very reasonable! He was very helpful, pleasant, and definitely someone I would call to help me the next time I needed it. Don't hesitate to call them!

The owner came out the same day that I called and discovered by heaters weren't working because they hadn't been properly cleaned in years. He removed the covers and helped remove some of the dust/pet hair that was clogging the heaters and taught me how to clean them myself- all with no charge! I will definitely use him in the future and have recommended him to several of my friends.

Place a call a couple weeks before to setup an appointment. The person taking the call was took down everything and told me that the electrician would call before the scheduled date to clarify any details. The electrician actually did call a couple days before to make sure I had the equipment needed - he would end up bringing his own equipment in case. The job was to mount a plasma tv and also move an electrical outlet to the middle of the wall (for the tv). There was also a HDMI outlet added. Communication was clear and the electrician did the work in about 3 hours. He had all the additional equipment needed and I felt that the fees for the equipment were fair. At the end, he provided an invoice of labor and breakdown of parts pricing. Will definitely work with again in the future.

I purchased the Wickman coupon on Angie's List for two hours of work and scheduled the day after the counter tops were installed. Brian was excellent. He was prompt, courteous, and explained everything. He worked efficiently and did a great job. He finished the work early, and then asked me if there was anything else that I wanted him to look at and check out. Anything about my electrical systems that I might have questions about. He was not trying to rush out or create new work, and definitely wanted to help me out as much as possible. I asked him to look at some outdoor outlets, one in particular had a broken cover. He showed me that replacement and explained the different types, the cost of each, and how they worked. I also had him repair the outlet. He charged me for the parts. I would definitely call Brian again. He was very trustworthy and responsive. It's good to have someone I can count on.
Description of Work: I've been having work done in my crawlspace and kitchen. Several outlets were not working after the insulation replacement, and I needed to reconnect my stove top after my counters were replaced. Because I had additional time on my coupon, I had him replace an outside outlet.

Brian arrived early, but he called. He was courteous and professional and had all the tools he needed- he didn't need to constantly go back to his truck. Our problem turned out to be my own fault, a lousy wiring job, but Brian was very gracious and offered suggestions on how I could do better (without having to call an electrician). I would certainly call him again.

Brian was extremely competent, professional, and friendly. In the 2 hours of his Angie's List special he accomplished much more than we had hoped. He arrived on time and had exactly the equipment that was needed. He clearly explained everything that he was doing. He was neat and careful, and cleaned up after he had completed his work.
Description of Work: He replaced three balasts and installed better lights in our kitchen. He did trouble-shooting to discover how a heating lamp fixture in a bathroom was no longer wired and fixed the wiring. At the same time, he fixed some wiring that was not up to code by installing a junction box. While he was in the attic space, he reconnected a fan vent that was venting into the attic.

Brian was very knowledgable and helpful with both of our projects. He worked with us on fulfilling our wish lists while keeping our projects within budget, which was important to us. He helped us understand the residential codes and requirements and explained a variety of options for the work we needed. The work was done efficiently and professionally and we appreciated Brian's communication with us throughout. We are now adding another addition to our house to create a nursery and plan on hiring Brian again!
Description of Work: We've used Wickman Electric for two projects now. For the first, Brian helped us with electrical work and lighting for a major home remodel. He updated all of the old, unsafe wiring, reworked electrical lines to use in our new room configurations, added outlets, can lights, extended power to the garage, installed heaters and heated flooring, and a number of other projects. I am pleased to say that now our entire home is updated and permitted to 2012 code. The second time we hired Brian was to help us install a new TV and surround sound system in our living room. He turned our TV room into a great entertainment room with all the latest bells and whistles. Now all we have is a huge TV on our wall and everything else is hidden in a closet. All we have to do is point it at the TV and touch a couple of buttons. It's awesome! He also explained how to update the software and whenever we have a question about how to use it, he gets back to us quickly.

A great black friday deal convinced me to buy a fantastic home surround sound system from Bose. I brought the system home, unboxed it, and got it all wired up. It sounded amazing... until my better half came home and saw the mess of wires running across the living room. Knowing that I needed help if I wanted to keep my new toy I called Brian Wickman, an electrician I've worked with several times in the past. As usual, Brian showed a great deal of professionalism and skill. He was able to schedule us in for the next day and arrived a few minutes ahead of the scheduled time. Brian took the time to talk to both of us about what we wanted out of the project and presented a couple of options that we could choose between. Brian then installed the sound system exactly as we wanted, calibrated it, and had us both come in for both a visual check [for her] and an audio check [for me] to make sure everything was exactly as we wanted it. Once we were both happy Brian started the work of hiding the wires and repairing the openings he had to make in the process. The entire experience was very low-stress and we are both very happy with the results. I will certainly continue working with Brian in the future.
Description of Work: Installed 5.1 sound system. Ran cables from central area to speakers and sub woofer through walls and under the carpet so they were completely hidden. Patched and painted all openings made in walls.
