WATCH & CLOCK REPAIR

David is a remarkable gem. My wife brought a clock that was shipped to me from the east coast, the only thing I wanted from my parents' home after my mother passed away. David was very excited to see the clock and promised to restore it to original condition, even telling us that if any parts were needed, he knew a machinist with antique metals so the parts would be made of materials the same age as the clock. The restoration was done beautifully and at a very reasonable cost; David even brought the clock and hung it on an appropriate wall (I'm in a wheelchair, so unable to do so on my own). On leaving (after spending an hour or more with us), he said, "this clock is my responsibility for at least the next two years." You don't find craftsmen like this very often.

They told me there was a chance they couldn't fix it but they would try. A part had given out and they tried several times to repair or replace it. Unfortunately, they couldn't. They explained, and they didn't charge me anything. It wasn't what I hoped for, but it was a very old, idiosyncratic clock, so I can't fault them. And I am very appreciative of the fact that they refused any payment for their time.

I just got both clocks back and couldn't be happier. Four weeks ago Yakov Davydov. Came to my house to take a look at my antique clocks. The repairs came in at the price quoted and they are working beautifully. The repairs have two year warranty. Yakov was very professional. It is nice to have my grandfather clock running again

We will use them again and again! Absolutely impeccable customer service. Some of our furniture was damaged during a move. One piece was our grandfather clock. Since the moving company was responsible I do not know how much the repair cost was since David worked it out with them, but they did a great job. I've never had a vendor be so communicative during the whole process. He even jumped through the hoops to have a background check done because the moving company required it. In short, David and his colleague were: prompt, professional, highly knowledgeable, highly skilled, and meticulous! We will use them for all future maintenance. Not great. Provider quoted $76 flat or travel to residence. Fair deal. Sent a guy (not himself). NO problem. The guy looked at the clock, rocked the hand and didn't bother to wait to see if it worked. Simply said done. I had explained to David the problem that the hand would rock but would stop after 15 minutes. The word never got to the guy. The guy then tries to "sell" me services. Barely looking at the clock, he says $398.00 to clean it 5 hours. He would take $398 or I pay him $76 + tax + gas surcharge + ?? whatever else (none of which were mentioned in my phone call to David). I explained to him that none of this was mentioned by phone and that I would not pay anything more than $76 and he left. I was happy up until he used the salesman's ploy trying to up my original agreement. I also question the $398 which it feels upon reading all the reviews that this might be the targeted amount per residence, probably whether the clock needs it or not. Just my guess. I selected this location based on the reviews; but, I wad definitely not happy. The $398 was not the problem. The lack of communication and/or dishonesty I couldn't tell was what got to me. Consistency is very important. Will not be back.

He came out to my house and looked at my clock for free. Gave me an estimate and provided me with information as to why I might want to fix it and why I might not want to. I decided to have it fixed. He did a great job and provided me with a ton of information. He even called back a week after he finished just to check in to see how my clock was going. I would definitely recommend and go back.

I am submitting this one because our old clock developed a problem (sounded as though the cuckoo had a serious case of asthma or a bad cold). We called David and he returned to see if he could fix the problem in house. Unfortunately he could not, so he took our clock with him and returned it barely a week later. David said he had never seen a problem like the one he found and he had to look very hard to find it. David did all this gratis because he warranties his work. He then called a couple of weeks later to make sure it was ticking along just fine and cuckooing properly. Our clock is probably 125 years old and David is a gem who knows how to fix and care for such rare family heirlooms.

I called the number listed here and spoke with the owner who was very kind. Told him the problems with the clock, which was that it simply would not keep proper time....the Minute hand would go around one time when I wound the clock, then would " stick " for over 1/2 hour, then start up again...only the clock was always off by at least 1/2 hour. No amount of resetting the hands, stopping the clock, and various other things I was told to do......nothing helped. It was my secret Christmas wish to get my clock working, so they sent " Yakov Davdov" on December 24th. Very nice, very professional. I knew I was sort of " in trouble " when I saw him totally dismantling the actual clock out of the cabinet. My Mom had just had this clock " Fully Serviced" whereby they took the clock back to the shop...she paid almost $500 for this " service " just over a year ago. Upon her passing....I transported the clock from Nevada up to Washington. Even tho we took great care and every precaution, the clock would only sort-of-work. Lo and behold....in less than 15 minutes Yakov was able to place my extremely clean, well cared for, recently overhauled clock parts on the kitchen counter and " showed " me: when the last guy did his work...he did not put ANY bronze bushings in. Due to this, the plates wore out, the holes under the wheels became too big. He showed me that... here, here, (so on and so forth) that each of these places that look like 'steel pins' to me....each one of those " should " have had a bushing behind (or under neath) it preventing the steel pins from making holes larger in the wood...he needed to take the entire thing back to the shop...refill holes, drill new holes, put bushings in. He drew pictures for me AND showed me precisely on the clock what needed to be done ( all of this was before he took the clock away ). I was told 3 to 4 weeks and they called me exactly 4th week ( took it Dec 24 and came back Jan 24) When he returned yesterday to do the reinstall he brought back the envelope the bushings came in AND brought pictures of what he did...on the back of the picture it says " Both Plates were very worn out. I installed 11 bushings mostly on the time side wheels. I used bronze Swiss made--the best in the clock industry" I had several questions about the operation of the clock as I knew this would be probably my only time with a professional clock repair person to get them answered. He answered all of them and never rushed me through anything. Yakov installed the clock, ran it through all its paces...made sure all the different chimes worked at all the different/various settings. I did not like the way the clock was tilting forward and he made sure the top and the base were level. Then, also left me with an information page concerning how to adjust the clock if it is too fast or too slow, basic information for grandfather clocks, etc. On my Invoice it states " 2 Years of Warranty " - so they guarantee their work too boot. I am not happy that my mom got so ripped off and swindled by someone in Las Vegas...however, I am happy/glad that I have found these people who are kind/know what they are doing and are willing to help/show/explain and never at any point was anything rushed. As a matter-of-fact upon my initial telephone call INTO the company I was told that their " motto " (for better lack of words) is to make sure that their customers are 100% satisfied . Thank you so much, Yakov!!! It has been only.......24 hours since I have had my clock back, but everything is working beautifully...to the Minute!!

I had an old family Cuckoo Clock restored and made to work again. David from Watch and Clock Repair did an excellent job, I couldn't have been more satisfied with the overall experience !

The clock that needed repair was a wedding gift to my husband's grandparents in 1903 and it wasn't new then. In addition, he has called several times to check and see if the clock is working properly...it is...and to provide information about making any adjustments needed. We were very impressed with this young man's knowledge of this old clock and his enthusiasm for repairing, refurbishing and making sure this family heirloom continues to provide us with the correct time and a link to my husband's family and going forward to our children. Would recommend David K. without a single reservation.

David came to my home and provided an estimate for a clock I bought on eBay. He said he would need approximately 3 weeks to restore the clock and the estimate would not change. After getting to his shop, David called to say he'd done additional research and that my clock was actually 140 years old and very rare. He explained the likely history of the clock and why it was unique. Because of the extent of the restoration, he needed a few extra weeks to complete the work, which was completely fine with me. He reiterated the quote would not change. When David delivered the clock he took great care to explain how to operate and care for it. I've had the clock almost a week and it keeps time as accurately as my computer. Remarkable for any mechanical clock, but especially so for one that is 140 years old. David is more than a clock repairman. He's an artist who is passionate about his craft. And that passion is contagious. I give David the highest recommendation. You won't be disappointed.

I highly recommend David Khaimov - I believe he's a one-man show there. He is located INSIDE THE FRED MEYER Jewelers, but owns his business independently. He gave me options and advice on the repair, recommending a repair as opposed to a restore for my clock. He was extremely patient with helping me select the new hands for the clock, having me come back when I didn't like the first choice he had come up with. Even his explanation demonstrated that he had put thought behind it, they DID match the best, but weren't the style that were on it when I grew up with it. He gave me a pair backup pair of hands to make sure I'd be happy. He was extremely interested that I was happy with his work and clearly takes a lot of pride in doing his job well. He was also very personable and professional. I'll be going back with any other delicate clock or watch issues.

The service was exceptional -- not only skilled, but very knowledgeable as well. Really helped me evaluate the value of the investment. I also wanted to be sure to maintain some of the old charm and character (i.e., not make it look too new). The clock looks and works beautifully now -- just as it did in my Great Grandmother's home!

Overall, every thing went as planned and as I thought it should.

My grandmother's Ansonia mantle clock is over 100 years old and has not worked for some time. Hearing of David at this location, I contacted him about the clock. He told me that he would quote a price and stick to it no matter what, once he had examined it. I took it to him and he did quote the price. I felt that he knew what he was doing and left the clock with him. He called me 3 weeks later and said the last people who had fixed the clock had used a part that was not for this model and did not fit properly. He would search for the correct part and if he could not find it, he would use a template to manufacture one from material that was used at that time. He said the price would not go up, he just needed time. I was happy to give it to him. He eventually found the part and called me to pick up the clock. It took him 3 months to find the part and fix the clock but it was restored to its original working order with no modern parts or modifications. I am VERY happy with his service, especially since the last people who had worked on it had used the wrong part. Well worth the cost and time to get it right. They do not take credit cards, just checks or cash, but that was not a problem for me.
