Washingtons Best Decks and Siding

After searching through numerous pictures online my wife and I had chosen what we wanted. We really liked the no maintenance of the trex decking but definitely liked the look of a nice stained wood deck much more. We showed Cameron a picture of the deck and we came to the fact that what we wanted is a iron wood deck with a cable type railing system. First Cameron priced us out on both ways and we were definitely shocked to find out the difference in the cost. The cable railing and the ironwood upgrade definitely over doubled the cost from using a cedar deck and was even more than a complete composite decking system. We had seen a picture of iron wood and cable railings and we couldn't get away from it. That is what we wanted and we had to have it. We were nervous to pay that price for a deck but we understood the cost of the materials we wanted would significantly increase the cost. The deck looks beautiful and we are glad we paid more and got what we really wanted.

We had a lot of windows in our home we needed to replace and we knew it! We have actually known this for a couple years now. We decided to give Cameron at Modernized Exteriors a call since we spoke with him at the Everett Home show last year. When he came out he offered to price out the entire house as well as break out a smaller more manageable project. When we got to the cost of the projects he let me choose at what best fit our budget. He was very non-threatening, which we felt was a breath of fresh air. We decided since it all needed to be done we would do it all at once to take advantage of the volume discount. As far as the window is concerned, we just went middle of the line with a lifetime vinyl window and we wish we would have just done it a couple years ago:)

The deck these guys (Nick and Cameron) designed for us is the best investment we've ever made. We used steel beams, trex decking, and composite railings. It looks and feels better than any deck I've ever came across. The steel beam upgrade is simply fabulous. The price was high, but so was the quality and my overall satisfaction. Great experience.

Repeat customer. Had them do our back deck last year and couldn't be happier. Didn't have the cash to do the siding then so we had them out this year to do this project. Teddy was our project manager at our request. He helped on our project last year and things went great. The product we decided on is James Hardy Fiber board. After much debating between my wife and I we selected the color combo we wanted. The rest was simple. Teddy took the bull by the horns and made sure we got exactly what we wanted. The end result is better than the words of praise I could type. The house looks brand new. Next year we will be calling Teddy to help with the roof.

after receiving an estimate from this provider we decided to move forward with the project. after talking with nick I decided we had enough information to move forward with the window project. The only reason I gave them a "C" on price only because my neighbor had a different window put in there house for much less money. the thing is my neighbors windows also looks cheap and the install looks like it was rushed. I felt that using a lifetime window with True professional window installers was the right choice and we are glad we paid more for quality.

Project went fantastic from start to finish. We originally only wanted to do 2 windows along with our deck but they mentioned that there minimum was 3 windows due to the set up time and installation costs. We opted to add the door in as well. Once the deck was complete the windows went in the next day and we couldn't be happier. project start to finish once work was started was 5 days as the deck took quite some time to tear off and reframe.

It was time to get the windows on our house changed and we knew it. We had Single pane windows and they were gross. We chose Modernized Exteriors to do our project even though there price was much higher than the other two bids we got. Modernized Exteriors really sold us on the product and the installation and to be honest we felt more comfortable paying more for the job to get done right. We had 24 windows installed and we paid roughly 22k. The install was done seamlessly and efficiently.

Provider installed Lifetime siding on our home. 2400 sq ft of siding on the home and included trim on all the windows. home looks completely different now. 5 stars! provider was very professional and we really enjoyed them at our place as much as you can enjoy having a contractor at your home. ;)

Deck and Siding project. Was interested in having one company do both. We went with a james hardy siding product and Trex decking elevations for the decking system. What made Modernized stand out was they recommended the Trex elevations highly for the look and the stability. The difference is instead of using cedar beams we actually used steel beams. it looks great. We took the time to write this review because we were very please with the project start to finish. Janet

Paint was peeling off our rotten wood siding and we had been planning to change it for years. We met Modernized Exteriors at a home show and had them out for an estimate. Two estimators showed up and took measurements. They were able to work up a price on the spot. The total came out to 28,500 for 3100 sqft of siding. The estimator noticed our sliding door was foggy and said they had a door in the warehouse that was mismeasured for another job and that they would give it to us as a bonus for doing the siding project with them!!! The actual installation of the siding job was done about 3 weeks later and the sliding door was installed at the same time. The installation team was professional and and the work looks fabulous. We feel they went above and beyond by giving us the sliding door for free. We plan on doing solar panels in the near future and will be using Modernized as our contractor.

Bought the coupon, when the merchant contacted me to set up the job, the price is $2750 with $600 TOWARD the total and, oh yes, by the way, PUD is offering rebates...This is a classic bait and switch and I am quite unnerved that Angie's list ran this scam. I called Angie's list and they will refund my $149. Not a good experience.

I replaced the siding on my home with a lifetime fiberboard. I believe the product was James Hardy siding. It looks great. We got the look of a wood with zero maintenance. We got to choose a color that fit our home and I think it looks spiffy!

We have been putting off updating the outside of our home for a couple years now and knew we needed to do something. We went ahead with siding and a deck because we thought that would give us the most bang for our buck. The price was $29,000. Project lasted 9 days. guys were on time courteous and did excellent work.

Brad from Modernized Exteriors was the estimator for the job. we had two things that were pressing to us and that was a new deck and we wanted insulation blown into the attic. After a quick search online we found out that we could use a special insulation called cellulose and it is supposed to be rodent repelling. we thought that this was a excellent idea and asked Brad what the price difference was. He told us it was a couple dollars more and he would honor the price he quoted us for either choice. This all happened while they were building us a new cedar deck on our back porch. everything was on time and clean. We enjoyed brad and the Modernized Exteriors crew and we are excited to start saving money on our energy bills.

When I first bought this house the inspector told me that it would soon need a roof. I also knew that because of the age of the home that the insulation would be sub par. My first winter of heating bills confirmed this. I decided that it would be better to replace the roof before a leak happened. I called too make an appointment and an estimator came out the next day. I was given many different options including a lot of high end products which were very nice but simply out of my budget. I settled on a 30 year shingle and picked a color. I also asked about attic insulation and they said they were doing a few jobs down the street and could have my insulation done the next week. The roof was about three weeks out. When they arrived to do my insulation they brought everything they needed and the job was done quickly and they cleaned before they left and brought all the trash with them. They showed me before and after pictures they took with their phone. What a difference. My old insulation was basically non existent and now my attic has a nice thick layer. The roof install had to be moved twice due to the weather. They did not want to tear off my old roof in the rain. Wehn the weather eased up the crew came out and took care of the entire project in 4 days. They even let me throw my old dryer in the dumpster!! The roofers also cleaned before they left. This was a good experience and they never asked for more money that the original contract.

We have been wanting to do attic insulation for the last couple years. Once Modernized Exteriors came out and showed us the break down on pricing we wish we would have done it two years ago. we got our 1500 sq ft attic insulated for $2,400 and on top of that we are getting a $400 rebate from Puget Sound Energy. We expected to pay $3500 for it and we ended up only paying $2,000. The guys were clean efficient and a pleasure to work with.

We had them out to do a bid and felt the price was fair. They were able to start sooner than we had thought (1 week). The process was smooth and only took a couple hours. They swept when they were done and were on their way. One thing that surprised us was how much the noise was canceled. Our upstairs is much warmer now. There is also a 400$ rebate from PSE that we will be getting. Great deal.

After receiving several very annoying in home "consultations" and not finding what i was looking for my boss recommended Modernized exteriors. He had used them to for his windows and roof, and said he was very happy with the entire process. I knew I was looking at an expensive project. My entire house needed new siding and my roof was in bad shape. My homeowners association requires 50 year asphalt shingles and the cost is a lot more than standard roofing. I wanted siding that was maintenance free as well so I chose Hardie brand fiber cement siding. I had many different bids for these products and the range had quite the variance. For example my highest roof bid was 42k while the lowest was 26k. I'll never in my life trust the lowest bid because I don't want the contractor to cut corners, but I cant see paying 16k over the lowest bid either. I am not cheap, I understand that good things aren't cheap and cheap things aren't good. I called Modernized Exteriors to get an estimate and they sent and estimator out the next day. The appointment was streamlined because I knew what I wanted and I already trusted the company based on my bosses experience. Measurements and I price was all I needed. The estimator Nick was able too get all the measurements he needed in about 15 minutes and then it took him about another 10 minutes to come up with a price. The price was just about smack dab in the middle of all the quotes I had gathered. Not too high, not too low, sorta the Goldie Locks of pricing. I told the estimator that the pricing was fair and I liked him and his company enough to move forward with the project right away. The estimator told me that since I was willing to pull the trigger on the first visit that I qualified for a 10% efficiency discount. 10% doesn't sound like a lot, but on a project of this magnitude it was huge. I had agreed to a price around 47.5k and the discount brought it down to just 43k!!! That 4.5k i saved is now collecting interest in my IRA!! Now the fun part, the installation. I was told by Nick that the roof would be done before the siding so there wouldn't be any possibility of scratching my new siding(thoughtful). The roofing crew came out on time and were very polite and efficient. the entire roof took about 5 days and it looked gorgeous. The siding crew was out about a week later and the job went great besides a couple rotted places in the subsiding that the crew discovered. It took a total of 3 sheets of plywood to repair the rot and Modernized didn't charge me any extra for the labor or the materials. I cant think of how the process could have possibly gone any better. Once I get my bonus this year I am going to have them do my windows.

We had already contracted with Modernized Exteriors to do our roof. after we did the roof we talked to Cameron about our small back deck that was 10X10. we wanted to make it larger and add stairs. because we wanted to go with a cedar deck as opposed to a composite deck he said it was very easy to calculate because there is not as many options. He said he gave me a previous customer discount and we enlarged the deck by about 25 sq ft. I think we ended up paying about $18,000 for a 50 year roof which was right in the middle of the three bids that we got and paid about 10,500 for the deck. We had gotten another bid for our deck and it was about $1,000 lower but we decided that because they had already done our roof and followed through with everything they had promised that that 1,000 was worth it to have someone do the work that we already trusted. Total price: 28,500 for cedar deck with stairs and 50 year roofing project.

We had a old crummy cedar deck to start with that we weren't even comfortable walking out on. Modernized Exteriors came out on time and talked to us about our options. basically the new cedar deck cost was right about where we thought it would cost ($15,000) and we were in shock about the price to put a composite deck although we had multiple bids and Cameron and modernized exteriors were not the lowest price but they were absolutely not the highest. we went with the cedar deck and it came out looking great. The whole install process took about a week. instantly when the deck was done I went right to Home Depot and bought a new BBQ to enjoy my new deck! Thanks again for the hard work guys!

We initially wanted vinyl replacement windows to replace our old aluminium windows because we had a lot of blown seals and the frames were sweaty and moldy. Our last house had vinyl windows and we liked them just fine. When the estimator came out he showed us some vinyl options and also took the time to show us some very nice fiberglass clad wood windows. We had always wanted wood windows but never the maintenance since we are recently retired. We saw the clad windows as a good option because they offer everything nice about a wood window minus the maintenance. The cost for the fiberglass clad windows was around the same as the very best vinyl windows they had. We wanted to invest in windows once and not have to do it again so the cheap options were not really an option at all. We also had a front deck in dire need of repair and they built that for us as well. The deck is very very nice that they built. The craftsmanship was top notch and the deck builder Kevin was a real gem. The star of the show was the window crew. The guys carefully and efficiently replaced all 28 of our windows in a very short period of time and when they were done they took the time to walk us around the house and show us how each one operated. We are beyond satisfied with the finished work and feel we got an excellent value. The estimator could have easily taken our order for vinyl windows and we would have never known the difference. The fact that he took the time to at least offer us another option speaks loudly for the level of customer service we received.

Everything that was promised was performed to perfection. I felt $7500 for 7 windows was a little high. All in all after everything was done Cameron came out to do a inspection and make sure I was thrilled with the final product and he said he had a surprise for me. Cameron showed up with a rebate form from my PSE and let me know that for the new year the company was offering a rebate of $75 per window installed as long as it met some energy code. My windows exceeded all of the expectations that were required by PSE and I have a rebate coming to me for $525! Awesome way to end the project. Cameron was great to work with and made this whole project a breeze.

They built us a new deck with Trex and lighted railings. We love it. We had them install a stone coated steel roof. Very Very nice roof. They also installed 14 windows and a french door. Beautiful windows, excellent install. We are very glad we used Modernized Exteriors. They even gave us a Boeing employees discount. We had several bids and Modernized was not the lowest. We paid a fair amount for what we got and the customer service and finished product is stellar.

We found Modernized Exteriors through a friend that used them last summer for the windows on their home. We had them come out and give us a estimate on the windows and door that go out to our old deck. The price to get the windows done was in the middle of the three bids we got. It wasn't quite as high as the first bid we got although it was still a couple thousand dollars more than the lowest. We felt that the window that Cameron from Modernized exteriors suggested to us was of a much higher quality and we felt that is was worth the couple extra thousand for the quality. Cameron was very knowledgeable and helped us design the perfect way for our windows to open around the house. The windows and the Sliding glass door looked great that it really brought out how terrible our deck looked. The installers measured it up while they were already out there and gave us a great deal on a cedar deck. great experience.

Cameron came out and talked to us and gave us a couple different options on new windows. we opted to go with a lifetime window product and have a Ply-GEM window installed. the reason we chose to go with ply gem is because we have previously done the upstairs window with Penguin Windows and Cameron said it would cost a couple dollars more although he can order the windows so the frames would match even though we had the penguin ones installed about 5 years ago. overall the price came out to about half of what we paid 5 years ago for the same windows. Needless to say we were beyond thrilled. We were soo happy that when the windows were finished being installed and Cameron was out checking out the final product we had him give us a estimate on the deck and we went ahead with that as well. we were extremely happy with the finished product and we will be using Modernized Exteriors in the future for our roof as well. - Judy Trudell
