I was very pleased with all aspects of the job. Very courteous, fast worker and carefully cleaned up the area when he was finished. I would recommend Washington Door Service to my friends.
Description of Work: Lloyd showed up on time and replaced the rollers on two patio doors which were very difficult to open. He had all the parts required and completed the job in about one hour. The doors now open and close with minimal effort.

Lloyd and his men did an excellent job! He originally came out within of my contacting him and gave me a very competitive bid on the job. Once the replacement door arrived they were out the next day and did the install. They did a great job and left the place super clean when they were done. I will be using them again on another project real soon.

I called them in to fix a couple of doors before we put our house on the market. They came right on time, and fixed the doors as requested, very quickly. The service person then said that since we were paying for an hour minimum of service, were there any other doors they could fix for me while they were there? They fixed several other doors that were hard to open and close, etc. They did a great job!

The work was performed by two employees and the job took them about an hour and a half. I feel like it was a very fair exchange on both sides. After writing the check, they realized that the storm door lock was not functioning correctly. it would not lock. They just took care of it no charge.
Description of Work: I recently purchased a home which had several doors that would not latch and a couple that were rubbing/sticking on the door frame. This company provided an accurate estimate and performed the work the same day.

This company was professional and very accurate in their estimate of the install so that there were absolutely no surprises. Throughout the years we have dealt with numerous contractors within our home and can say from experience that Washington Door Service is simply outstanding. The space in our entry is so limited that accuracy of door openings and swings was critical and Lloyd did not disappoint. We would never hesitate to use them again and would highly recommend their services to others.
Description of Work: We had several bids (from AngiesList contractors) to replace our front door which happened to be an ugly sliding glass door. Lloyd not only gave us a quote for a replacement slider, but was the only one to suggest other door choices which we had not even considered. He ordered a new front door, gave us an estimated date of its arrival and contacted us quickly to schedule installation when it was ready. Upon the agreed install date, he arrived promptly with his crew and they quickly began work. He coordinated the delivery of our new french doors and glass side panel to coincide with the install. They worked efficiently and were pleasant throughout the entire process. This installation went beyond our expectations! They installed trim within the interior and exterior of the doors that match our contemporary home which up until then had been non-existent and installed handlesets/deadbolt/dummy handleset/door levers which we had purchased oursel. Upon completion, they cleaned up after themselves and hauled away all debris so there was no hint they had ever been there except for our great new door.

This is another example of an excellent contractor within the Angie's List universe. Our house is approximately 30 years old. A pocket door between the kitchen and dining room had slipped off the track when one of the rollers was damaged. I looked on the internet, found a few videos on how to simply repair the door and took several months to get around to the task and several trips to the hardware store(s) in an attempt to find the right replacement rollers. A few hours into the project I came to the realization that I was going to be making several mistakes that could eventually be very expensive. I looked on Angie's List and found Washington Door Service. I called and Lloyd and his son, Curtis, were able to come out within a few days. They were here at exactly the time Lloyd said they would be here. They were able to complete the project, correcting several approaches that I had initially attempted, and completed the project successfully within an hour. I was impressed on how Lloyd discussed the various options, their price, and complexity and went with what was best for us. After putting on the rollers that I had purchased, he recommended that we switch to those that he carried in his truck. He was absolutely right; the door works great. After the work was done I've asked for a quote to replace and repair several other doors in the house. It's a pleasure working with this team in solving problems that I have come to recognize are beyond my skill levels.

I got an estimate for a pre-hung fiberglass door from Lloyd and he scheduled me in really quickly since I'm from out of town and needed to have the work done before I left. Lloyd came at the scheduled time and quickly went to work. I'm not sure if I got a great deal on the price since he installed a generic brand of fiberglass door, but I was able to inspect the door before he hung it, and was happy with the quality of the door.

Our front door handle fell apart on Friday evening; we put it back together, but the screw holes were stripped and our huge and heavy door was so tight in the frame and required so much force to pull it open that the door knob just popped back out. We called and spoke to Lloyd on Saturday morning (he was one of the very, very few services who actually answered our call on a Saturday) and made an appointment to come out Tuesday morning. On Monday morning, Lloyd called and said he'd had a cancellation, and if it was convenient, he could come to our house at 9am. It was convenient, and he arrived right on time. Lloyd was friendly, efficient and quickly fixed both the fit of the door and the door handle. He also did a quick repair on a problem with the flashing on one of our other doors. The repairs were clean and the doors looked and worked great. Washington Door Service will be our first call if we need anything else done to the custom doors on our home.

I appreciated WDS' professionalism. I would have loved to work with a local company were it not for super high prices compared with other contractors.
Description of Work: Lee from Washington Door Service (WDS) is very professional, but was a bit slow in providing a quote. Once he finally did, the pricing was shockingly high. The quoted price for purchasing and installing a fiberglass entry door was at least $700 over the price quoted by a big box store and $800 over the price quoted by Millwork Outlet in Maple Valley (for a better door). When I called the big box store for just a price for the door, WDS' labor would have been almost $1,000 if he were buying the door at retail prices. I spoke with Lee, who proceeded to tell me that "perfectionist" door installers are hard to come by. That may be, but for $1,000 of labor, I'll take my chances.

Response from Washington Door Service LLC
We take pride in our service and professionalism as we are a small two man company. Our craftsmanship is very important to us and we have never claimed to be the cheapest out there. High quality work does come at a higher cost. We are not a big box discount store and shouldn't be compaired to one. Our prices will compare with any other reputable contractor out there (materials and labor). However, we find that not many are willing to do small jobs. One of our potential clients compared our prices to that of a large discount box store. Also they said (assumed what our labor cost was) without considering the cost of: 1) carefully removing the old door and frame, 2) flashings, 3) shims, 4) caulking, 5) trims, 6) pre-finishing, 6) installing the old lockset, 7) installing a new (client supplied) storm door. The old door had to be removed carefully because they wanted it modified and installed in a different location. All things considered, our prices are not super high, for the service we are providing they're right on. For this type of job, to be done well, takes time and expertise and that is what we specialize in.

My house was broken into while I was on vacation. The front door had been kicked in and so I needed appropriate repairs to be made so that the door would lock securely. I had another contractor I had found on Angie's List attempt to make the repairs first, but it became an ordeal for what should have been a simple repair. So I contacted Washington Door Service. They came out a couple days later to give me an estimate on the repairs. They said it should be a straightforward job so I set up a time for them to do the repair. Lee came out a few days after that and completed the repairs to the door jam and installed new locks and deadbolts. He was friendly, professional, and did a quality job in a short amount of time. No one wants to have their front door kicked in, but this is the company to use if it ever happens to you.

Lee came by to evaluate the job before we purchased the door. He looked at the quotes we had for door options and made sure that we ordered the right door (i.e. which direction it slides, outside lock, size, flashing, etc). Once ordered, we scheduled the install and Lee was flexible with timing since the door delivery kept changing (not their fault). Once delivered, Lee and his team were there as scheduled, installed the door and trim, and sealed it up. They disposed of the old door and that was that. Highly recommend for your door installation needs.

Lee came to measure and offered me several styles of doors. I picked 2 styles of bi-fold doors. He actually did the measurements on more than one visit. Some of the doors were not in stock and had to be ordered, so the work was done on 2 separate visits. Lee did some of the fitting and finishing in his shop before the installation. The finished product looks great!
Description of Work: I needed to replace 6 accordion-style closet doors. I chose to go with bi-fold doors instead of accordion-style, which would have been prohibitively expensive.

AAA+++ I cannot say enough positive things about the workmanship, attitude, and overall quality of Washington Door Service! Upon purchasing an antique Art Deco door with original hardware, I contacted a local door service (not Washington Door) to get it installed. Being a well-used door which had previously been installed in a different house, it had a beveled top and dimensions that were out of square. The door company I spoke with told me all about how the door would not work in my existing frame, how inefficient it was, how my old hardware would not work without repair, and a whole slew of problems that had me thinking the project was next to impossible, or I would have to get a new door and put the old hardware on it in order to make it work. However, not giving up on having my beautiful old door installed, I contacted Lloyd with Washington Door Service and told him my situation. Over the phone Lloyd was extremely positive, saying the job could be done easily, and that he could come out that very day to evaluate the job. He arrived within a short time, and after seeing the door, hardware, and existing frame told me it would be no problem at all, and that it would actually be fun. On top of that, he said my old door hardware was just fine and that he could install the door in my existing frame, thus saving me money on not buying a new frame! Lloyd was very friendly, professional, and up-beat about the project. The next day he arrived punctually at the agreed upon time and set to work with the attitude of someone who loves what they do. Throughout the process you could see that he was enjoying the challenges the job posed, took personal pride in his work, and truly invested himself in making the door look great and operate perfectly, just as if it was his own door he was working on. Lloyd did a lot of extras to make the aesthetic appeal of the door just what I wanted and even better than what I expected! He matched up the dead bolt with the antique bronze of the existing hardware and provided beautifully appropriate hinges. Even the screws he used on the hardware was perfectly matched to the antique look I wanted. Lee, his partner, arrived awhile later and proceeded to not only stain the custom-fitted threshold to match the door, but he and Lloyd went one step further and stained the WHOLE door in order to fill the old scratches and discoloration on the old door. Wow, did it look great when they finished! Not only that, but the door fit, swung, closed, and locked PERFECTLY, as if it had been settled in that frame for years. Lloyd and Lee were a joy to work with. They really took pride in doing the work right, with both craftsmanship and artistry. I highly recommend them, and will use their services in the future.

We were very happy with the service we received from WA Door Service. Lloyd provided us with a detailed quote for the work and gave us several options for each item. He helped us select doors, materials, and stain colors. We chose to purchase the locking hardware on our own and he was fine with that. He performed the work over two separate days, one partial day to work on the quick repairs to our existing doors, the second trip he arrived with an assistant to install the new doors. On all occassions they were punctual, responsive to my inquiries, polite, friendly, and left clean work areas. The final price was exactly as bid, there were no "add-ons" along the way. I would definitely recommend WA Door Service to others.

Lloyd and Lee were super nice and easy to work with. The quotes on some of the other projects seemed a bit high for us, so we just had them stick to fixing the closet doors. Those remaining projects still need some work, but they got the doors functioning in a basic fashion and said to call them them again when we want to "do it right." I'll probably get some other quotes to be sure. Overall, they were easy to schedule with and very professional. They also did an excellent job of cleaning up and vacuuming when they were finished. I would use them again.

We started out last spring getting three bids, including one from Washington Door. They weren't the cheapest, but they gave me the greatest comfort that they would provide a quality product and service. The bid was higher than I was expecting (not really realizing what would be involved). Lee gave us different options to reduce the cost, including buying some of the hardware ourselves, discarding the removed doors and mouldings, and other options. We realized that the more we did ourselves, the more likely we were to mess things up. So we waited until this fall when we were in a better position to have them do as much as we felt uncomfortable doing ourselves. The work was great. They showed up on-time, they worked around my sleeping daughter, and they really shared the excitement with us as the work was done and looking fabulous. Without a doubt I would recommend their service.
